Angels one of the largest and oldest Costume house. It was Established in 1840, Angels currently has 6 million items of clothing on 8 miles of rail and has won 34 oscars. Angels is now opening its doors to 3 new apprentices.
Angels Costume Apprenticeships Description
Angels are delighted to announce that once again in conjunction with Amersham & Wycombe College we are offering 3 Creative Apprenticeships (at Level 2). This is a unique opportunity to gain a nationally recognised qualification whilst working in paid employment at the worlds largest and most well known Costume House.
The Creative Apprenticeship in Technical Theatre is a course developed with the creative industries to find and train a new generation of technicians for this ever changing industry.
A strong academic background is not essential – more important is a strong interest in film, a love of history and fashion and a well organised mind. Do you love clothes and have a good eye for style but have no interest in design? Perhaps you have an interest in Military history or are interested in war-gaming?
The Apprenticeship framework consists of three elements:
The National Award in Technical Theatre (Costume & Wardrobe), Level 2, in which you will complete a total of 6 units which will be assessed in the work place by your personal assessor – units include topics like: Fitting and altering costumes and accessories; Dressing performers and maintaining costumes and equipment
Next is the Certificate in Creative and Cultural Practice Level 2
You will complete a supporting qualification to ensure you have the required knowledge to work in the creative industries. In some cases you will be required to submit written work and to deliver presentations as assessments.
Last, but not least, there is the Key Skills element. If you do not hold the relevant GCSE grades in Maths, English and ICT, you will need to complete key skills which will be assessed in the workplace and you may be required to take an exam depending on your current qualifications.
All three elements will all be delivered at Angels The Costumiers over a 12 month period. To apply you must be at least 17 years old and not have a level 4 or above qualification. So, if you already have a degree you are not eligible for this programme.

Applications must be received by 31 July 2012.
Successful candidates will be invited to an Open Day at Angels on 16 August.
Candidates that are then shortlisted will be invited for interview the following week.
The expected ‘start date’ for this scheme is 10 September 2012.
