Well done to Lesley, Kizzy and Summer yesterday on your clear rounds. Good luck to those competing today! Having scared myself yesterday at the course complexity I was relieved to find out they were grades 6 and 7! There's hope for Rosie and I, and I'm off to register this little lady!

Rehabilitation doesn't have to mean a halt to your training.
Nobody wants to be in a position of having to go through extensive rehabilitation following injury. The main priority is to get our horse fit and well but you can't help but ponder where they would be in their training and performance if it hadn't have happened.
Effective rehab requires hard work and dedication on the owners part. Many hours will be spent pondering the right treatment, feed supplements, shoeing ar...rangements, turn out regimes, physios and so on. I would ask you to also consider what training aspects you would like to work on whilst having to take things back to basics.
For this little mare building confidence is something that can be worked on whilst taking two weeks out of ridden work. One of the local bridlepaths which she has been down frequently both alone and in company has recently had to have a barrier installed for safety reasons on the bridge. It both looks peculiar and narrows the bridge by one third. Whilst confident on the roads she struggles with obstacles in a more natural environment. So before we tackle it ridden, I got my walking shoes on and went to practice it in hand as this is within the mares comfort zone affording her the time to assess it and giving her a lead where necessary.
Double win for me. When she comes back into ridden work she will have the confidence to hack alone past this. Her owner who sometimes struggles with nerves also now knows she can deal with this confidently! Bonus outcome: improvement in rider fitness!
When working with your physio make sure you discuss any training issues you would like to work on and we will do our best to include exercises to help with this if appropriate to the physical needs of the horse.
As a qualified coach I am also able to help you implement these plans or undertake them for you if time is not on your side.
NB: The video shows that with patience we built the foundations allowing us to travel over the bridge with confidence . Yes, I am on the wrong side, we have to use road work to get there, it's also a useful exercise to teach your horse to be led from both sides.

Talented rider and judge Gemma has started a regular column in the new Essex Equestrian Magazine. Her partner in crime is the wonderful Mozart who at 25, and not without his issues, is a credit to Gemmas hard work. I treat Mozart regularly enabling his 25yr old body capable of keeping up with his mind and Gemmas ambition. To progress Gemmas judging career they are now looking to compete at Medium - who said you can't teach an old horse new tricks?!

As well as the physio aspect of my work I am a BHS registered coach and have produced and ridden horses for HOYS, RIHS, dressage, jumping and eventing.
I am lucky enough to be trusted by my owners with their precious friends when there just aren't enough hours in the day to ride or keep up with rehabilitation plans.
This is one of my favourite pairs of ears, the wonderful Quinn, who I have worked with for some time now as part of his support team - thank you Lucy for your support, it's much appreciated x

Look at Annie fly to take a first and second place at her recent outing with owner Tina! Just as well Tina is a fabulous dog groomer with her own business to keep Annie looking so amazing.
Grooming your pet on a regular basis is good for their well being as the gentle use of a brush massages the underlying muscles thus promoting blood circulation and muscle tone. It also ensures that you pick up any suspicious lumps and bumps quickly!
In addition a dog that is used to being groomed is a lot more relaxed with any veterinary or physiotherapy work.

Well done Angel, big step up for you and looking great!

A little late, but an interesting read.

Another client enjoying a great weekend was Adelle and Paddy. Not only did they win both of their dressage classes, they helped their team qualify for the BD Team Quest finals! Well done on your great achievement.

One of the many reasons I love my job is hearing how my clients are getting on. I met Jester last week as he had started hesitating in front of fences or 'measuring' which at best slowed him down but also had the potential to have poles down and falls.
Sounds like he was definitely back on form for a truly fabulous weekend. Excellent work Jester!
Hi Charlotte... A quick update for you on Jester. He has had an amazing weekend he won six classes came second twice and third once. He did not measure very much at all I am so pleased. I will be booking another massage soon. Thank You Nina and Jester
