My study experience (HND in Computing & Systems Development) at Arden was superb. I studied 2 years online from Saudi Arabia & Pakistan and was able to receive the same quality of access and support. Arden tutors respect and provide equal level of support and feedback to all ethnicity.

I came to understand very well than ever before. Tutors are highly qualified and mentor students in a very supportive and critical manner. there is no compromise on plagiarism, collusion and poor presentation of facts. Arden prepared me to pursue my further higher education in any competitive University and progress in my professional career.

All what they need is a hardworking student with dedication to learn. Besides, highly competitive fees for world class education. I wish Arden University progresses leaps and bounds. Looking forward to pursue further education now.

Studying on the Ealing campus. So far the lecturers seem good but there's one problem...

The university doesn’t give you your maintenance loan until you are attending classes regularly. Pretty annoying since the whole point of getting a maintenance loan is to maintain living costs while attending uni??? Kind of defeats the whole purpose of the loan. If you fail to attend, you will not get your maintenance loan. The university shouldn’t have the rights to do this as the loan has nothing to do with them. I’ve attended two other unis and neither of them done this, we was getting our money before we started the course which makes perfect sense as it allowed us to purchase books, accommodation and travel. It’s funny how they only stop the students from getting their loan but the tuition fee loan doesn’t get put on hold for the lecturers lol.

User

I just started working here at the Tower Hill campus. The students, Tutors and Support Team are very friendly. It is a very good place to study and get your degree.

User

I certify on those student who have gone before me and they completed their learning at home with all condition they have faced in their study so I am very happy to your University that is why I decided to joint your school through distance learning.

User

Studying with Arden has been one of the most frustrating experiences I have ever come across in my life. I have had 1 good tutor (Darko) out of 4 modules, the rest were just rude and patroninsing. There is hardly any support and no feedback if you miss their self emposed deadlines. I have currently withdrawn from the course and waiting to get my refund.. only to be told that it will be given if it can go back into the bank account from which the funds were paid.. which doesn't take into account the fact that people change banks, so am now in a struggle to try and get back a refund which is owed to me just because I decided to change bank accounts. Stay away from this organisation the only thing good has been getting help from other students. Really needs a lot of work especially in terms of customer service.

I would agree with other comments that this organisation is only interested in money.

I hope Arden understands that I provide this rating very reluctantly. I was really looking forward to and working very very hard towards a first class. Everything seemed to be going so well and I am still trying to figure out what went wrong.

1. I was provided no constructive feedback whatsoever on the content for my practical project. In fact, the lecturer kept saying everything was fine. The only feedback received was that “the appendix should come after the reference section”. I think I was justified in thinking I would get a first class grade. I was very surprised when I barely got a second class grade. Once again, no reasons or areas that could have been improved in the “provisional results” comments. I almost wonder if there was something I did to offend the lecturer in some way.

I am a distance learning student trying to juggle work and study, which is not at all easy. I have no face to face contact with the lecturers and your emails are all I have to depend on to guide me. What is the purpose of formative feedback if it doesn’t at least nurture/encourage students to achieve their potential? That is what all my other lecturers in other programs have done. My apologies I guess for expecting the same from Arden.

2. The same goes for the Online Business Solution module. One piece of formative feedback was given. I am a contractor, I gave up a whole week of pay just to stay back and address the feedback that was provided. What happens again? I barely get a second class. Was any reason given for the low grade? None. Just that I did not address a single area enough. If that was the case, was it too much to expect that the formative feedback mentioned that it needed more work? Again, what is the purpose of formative feedback?

3. Finally, I raised the question of my classification immediately on receipt of my provisional grades to student support. It took 5 days and repeated reminders before a reply was provided.

4. In January 2017, we received an email signed by Dr. Phillip Hallam providing the option to transfer to an Arden degree if we had not finished our maximum registration period and our studies. I asked the student support staff if this was an option for another chance to try for a first class. I have just been informed by the student support team (rather bluntly, I thought) that “no such transfer email was sent”. Was this just a marketing ploy?

Overall a very, very disappointing experience, I am sad to say. I was reading the Student Survey 2015 with some interest, especially the part about Arden not knowing why the results on the assignment feedback process was lower than other institutions. I hope my experience above will provide some light into this.

I guess my time with Arden is over. I guess I'm just another student and my concerns above are not even worth replying to. My only thoughts for future students are, if you are simply after a degree at a low cost , I guess degrees from Arden University are ok. If you want a flexible learning experience where your lecturers are your mentors and help you reach your potential.. well you decide.

My apologies if these thoughts seem harsh, but I found no other forum to voice my thoughts.

Wishing Arden and all students all the best for the future!

I began my business marketing studies with Anglia Ruskin through RDI (now Arden Uni) back in 2014. I spent a long time trying to find the right place to do my degree through distant learning and I had saved for a long time to be able to fund my degree myself. I spoke to RDI at great length before joining and they couldn't have been more helpful and patient with me. Based on this, the learning material and the offer of a small discount for paying my course off in full with my own savings, I took the plunge and signed up.

My first year went reasonably smoothly with good results (one assignment resulting in a first) however I did find some tutors distant and unhelp and the learning material patchy (broken links, out of date information…).

Coming into my second year is when I began to experience issues was poor grades. My writing style hadn’t changed, my research theory hadn’t changed, my essay layout and style hadn’t changed. I aired my issues to the uni however I was met with blunt sharp responses and a complete lack of helpfulness, I was beginning to feel I couldn’t do this and I wasn’t good enough to do a degree.

I aired my grievance through the uni student forum (maybe not my best move now looking back) but I was met with comments of other students in a similar position to myself and I was told by a rep this would be discussed with the tutors.

Since raising my concerns on the forum my grades have further dropped, being forced to retake my assignments on several submissions since then. I feel the uni has in fact not dealt with the issue but instead black listed my name. Today I have received am email requesting that I pay them a further £285 to retake another assignment yet again, which I strongly feel is down to their poor grading.

I feel the uni completely disregards their students and is purely being used as a money-making scheme. On investigation of the real reason for RDI rebranding I believe it is because of the negative reviews out there regarding RDI and the renaming of ‘Arden Uni’ was to give them a clean new image. Unfortunately, since starting my degree Anglia Ruskin Uni has also distance themselves from their services and will no longer be offering their courses via distance learning through Arden Uni.

Tomorrow I will be contacting Arden Uni to discuss my future with them.

Hmmm I don't like the fact that this university isn't actually a university rather a shadow university meaning it does not have its OWN campuses but using other campuses to teach and make money. It doesn't have its own facilities such as assessment centres, accommodation, library, fields, gyms etc non of it.

I don't know if it offers any extra circular projects such as trips/international projects or work placements. Things like this.

You know uni life has got to be a life worth remember and not just learning.

Would I get that?

I need everything university related In order to study here.

I like things when they are internal.

I did like on the of the glass buildings. I'm wondering if that's actually an Arden Uni campus.

An absolutely appalling 'university'. Basically, it's just a corrupt, fake institution. I ended up quitting my course less than halfway through because it was so bad. I started FdSc Computing with them and oh my days was it a nightmare. Where to begin. The teachers don't even seem qualified to teach the subjects that they claim to be experts of. On one occasion, she didn't know how to close the browser window and the class had to teach her. Lessons mostly consist of them playing us various YouTube videos that you can find for free online. I sat there wondering, "Do I really need to have paid £6000 to watch a bunch of YouTube videos that I could have found at home?" The curriculum, they say is government approved. Even if that's true, it's absolute bullshit that is so random, off-topic and doesn't cover the basics of computing. It's like going back to pre-school or going to a school for retards. One assignment consisted of writing a 1000 word essay about Coca Cola. When you ask for help with the assignments, they tell you to get lost. One fellow student asked the teacher a simple question about how to draw a table in MS Word and she responded to him in such a rude way and told him that she's not obliged to answer because he was asking questions that was not in her field of expertise 🤔. We were also told that they could only mark the first 500 words of each draft that we sent them because apparently the teacher had too many students to mark. The feedback they give you is very vague and unhelpful. The teachers are extremely rude and unprofessional. There's this female teacher who's very loud and aggressive. I recorded her on my phone and sent it to the student office as evidence, on one occasion when she started personally attacking me. They defended her and took no action whatsoever. The way they handle complaints or criticism of any kind is pretty disappointing. They defend everything that they do insisting that there's no wrong on their part. No accountability whatsoever. Other students also told me that they were thinking of complaining about her as well. She was saying that women in Saudi Arabia are happy being oppressed, and when I challenged her, she got very personal about where I was born and how I was raised. There's this other male teacher from America, and he's a major bully. He's a smug, arrogant and obnoxious fellow. You can always hear him bellowing 10 classrooms away. He started humiliating and harassing me in front of the class and I stood up to him and left him feeling embarrassed instead.

Their campus facilities aren't great either. There's no library. Nowhere you can sit down and study. No printing. They have a restaurant where there aren't many food options (especially for Vegans like me). I had to order from Uber Eats each lunchtime. The lady there took 10 minutes to even serve even one cup of coffee. Another student started filming her to expose her behaviour and she became very alarmed and demanded that she stop filming and called security on her.

Arden are very good at advertising. They're good at promoting their company and making it look so appealing for people to join. It's especially tempting to those who are underprivileged in some way, busy, or lack basic qualifications. They even give current students a £250 voucher for referring new students to them. That's how desperate they are! My advice: DON'T DO IT. I know it seems like cheap way to get a degree. I know they offer Distance Learning. But seriously, don't. You'll be far better off doing an Apprenticeship or joining a proper Uni. These folks are preying on anyone stupid enough to join.
