This week sees the arrival of these active little guys to the Ark, yellow mongoose (a close cousin of the meerkat), their habitat can be found in the tropical house and you'll be able to say hello to them towards the end of the week, just in time for our second birthday!, more details on that to come.....

User

We need your help!! A new resident for the tropical house, a Nile monitor. Doesnt have a name yet so we need some help. Please comment below, the person who comes up with the best name (chosen by our head reptile keeper) wins a family ticket to come meet him/her (sex unknown as monitors can be tricky to determine.)

User

Thanks to the lovely person who sent us a hammock and some wicker balls that the lemurs are currently enjoying. Unfortunately there was no note so we are unable to thank you in person.
If you would like to send the animals something please see our Amazon wishlist for ideas big and small!

Marvel, the rusty spotted genet-not looking to happy at being woken up during the morning clean.

User

Autumn officially starts shortly on the 23rd Sept, and that's a good a reason as any to post a photo of Autumn-one of our meerkats.

User

Our goats do love a see-saw.

User

Enrichment time for the lemurs.

From our largest reptile, to one of our smallest, both demonstrating a similar hunting strategy, eyes and nostrils situated towards the top of the head, helping Becky the Morelet's crocodile to keep the rest of her body out of site under the water, in order to ambush prey at the waters edge. Kenyan sand boas like Zig, use the same tactic, but this time their body is hidden under the sand.

User

Benny, a very inquisitive Tanuki.

User

Echo the lynx, looking regal as always.

User

All lined up in a row, except for the one who has to be different.

User

This morning, Suns out-Guns out.

User

A couple of beauties who came in today as they were in need of a new home, a pair of red foot tortoises.

The Ark is open as usual but please bear in mind West Fen Lane is closed for essential road repairs at our end until 16th September. Please follow diversion and enter West Fen Lane directly off the A16 (just outside Stickney village). The turn is near the speed camera as you exit Stickney and is sign-posted. From Skegness please ignore the road closed sign before you get to Stickney and turn right after the speed camera. You are able to enter West Fen from here and follow signs for about 1/2 a mile to find the park on the left. Many thanks for your patience.

Hangry rabbit!

Tomorrow (Sept 1st) is International primate day, come and meet our new arrivals, a family of ring-tailed lemurs at Lincolnshire's first and only primate island, and if that's not enough, to mark the end of the summer hols, kids go free this weekend (1-2 Sept, one child free for every full paying adult).

User

***Kids free weekend 1st and 2nd September** Why not bring your little monkeys to see our little monkeys before they go back to school next week. 1st and 2nd September one child goes free per full paying adult. With daily encounters at 11:30 and 2:30 there is plenty to see and do at the Ark!!!

User

A couple more great shots from Helen Zealand, this time featuring a couple of our ring tailed lemurs, relaxing on their bridge.

Yesterday was our second visit to Ark as I had bought the meet the fox experience for my mum.

She had an amazing half hour spending time with sox and shadow! The info Jamie told us about them was very informative and his knowledge on every animal in the park is incredible.

This place is much better than a zoo and the dedication of the whole team and volunteers is clear to see.

It’s a shame people see the need to keep many of these wild animals as pets but without Ark being in place I hate to think what would have become of them, I will def be back again

User

Yesterday I fulfilled a lifelong dream... I had an incredible encounter with 3 gorgeous meerkats! <3 Whilst I was interacting with and hand-feeding them, Jamie told me some interesting facts about my favourite animal. I purchased an experience for two so that my son could also hand-feed and enjoy this playful trio and we have both come away with some incredible memories.

This was our first visit to Ark Wildlife Park, but it won't be our last. This isn't a zoo; it's a rescue centre giving a host of exotic animals the life they deserve. Keep up the great work, guys!

User

Wow. The kids loved this today. Not too many animals but enough to keep them very interested. The activity barn, and play areas wore them out and then they sat and decorated biscuits in the cafe area and made chicks and rabbits out of the assorted crafty bit there on the table. The ladies making cakes in the kitchen to sell and it smelt delicious. this is great to take the kids for the afternoon. We will definitely be back.

User

What a lovely place, not commercial, not in it for profits from what I could see but in it to rescue animals and enjoy! Lovely staff, very quaint place! My oldest daughter does not always enjoy animal places but got so involved feeding the meerkats, stroking the donkeys and goats! Lovely cafe and lots of play equipment all very fresh and maintained you should be proud, the best of all they have rescued the animals!

User

Went here yesterday was not sure what to expect......

Well what can I say what a place first off the people that work there so friendly happy to help and tell you the story’s of the animals and how they got there, never too busy to answer any questions and you can tell they love the animals and love what they do, the place is very well run and clean, the animal range from chickens and rabbits to a lynx (that is beautiful to look at) and well worth the wait for her to come out, spent most of the day there a great day for the family.

And one last thing make sure you have the cake it’s amazing.

We will be going again.

User

Well worth a visit here, staff all very friendly, explained about animals to my two young ones.

The windows at ground level were a good idea for my toddler so she could peek through at meerkats raccoons and rabbits.

Our favourite bit was the tropical stables, it was brilliantly thought out and staff explaining and handling the animals there. It was busy and everyone got a close up view.

Good play park, and undercover play area for bad weather.

The party area gazebo needed a tidy in activity barn, as it might put people off booking it.

Lovely cafe which you can sit indoors, we were lucky to come on a warm day, brought a little picnic (benches in playground.) And had a lovely fresh hot scones with clotted cream and coffee after.

We forgot our wellies but needed in some certain areas as it's been so wet this time of year.

We will definitely be back!!! X

We had a really good afternoon at ARK with extended family today. It was interesting to see and read about such a wide variety of animals and to know that they are well cared-for after past mistreatment or illegal keeping in the pet trade. The Reptile Encounter was a particular highlight for many in our group and the relaxed atmosphere during that, which encouraged all the children there to speak out and join in, was lovely.

In general it was a very busy day for the staff but they remained calm, friendly and relaxed and nothing was too much trouble. Particular mention should go to the café staff who really were rushed off their feet. I’ve been to a lot of these sort of places over the last 15 years of parenthood and it’s not always the case that you find polite, professional, cheerful staff especially at busy holiday times. In addition the food is a cut above most similar venues - there’s a good range of hot and cold meals, all freshly prepared on the premises (we were able to get sandwiches made without butter, for instance) and the food is of a high standard and good value. Vegetable chilli comes highly recommended, as do the homemade cakes.

User

We had a great family day out last week. We came for my daughter’s birthday treat, we booked her a mini-keeper experience as a surprise and she absolutely loved it. Jamie took her around the first part of her experience, where she helped him prepare food for some of the animals, and she even got to go into the skunk enclosure to put their food bowl down! Jamie was great with her, and very knowledgeable. The next part was led by Chloe, in the tropical house, where my daughter got to hold some snakes and lizards, and put some food down for the tortoises and lizards. All of the staff were brilliant, very knowledgeable and so friendly. It’s amazing that everyone there volunteers their time to look after these rescued animals. Some really weird and wonderful species you don’t usually get to see. Great playground for the kids as well. Thank you for a fantastic day, we’ll be back again soon

User

We did a fox encounter today and it was everything you would expect and way more. Jamie was so knowledgeable and told us all about them, the park and how they look after all the animals. Sox the fox was adorable, unbelievably social and came over for as much attention as he could get, he loves a good ear scratch.

The park itself has so much more than you expect for its size, loads of different animals including ones we have never even heard of let alone seen in real life.

We had a great time there and would definitely recommend it

User

We came along to watch our friends feed the meerkats - Amazing little park, you could spend all day here with young kids with activities like colouring in and parks and ride along toys!

But it's the staff that are 5* - you can tell they love what they do and are passionate about the animals they have rescued.

A warm welcome when we arrived, an informative and personal feeding experience and a sincere goodbye when we left.

If you're going to spend some pennies taking the kids out, go here!

Well done to you all, you were fab! x x

User

Visited for the first time today. This is a lovely little place, and all the animals are fab, and well cared for. My 7 year old daughter absolutely loved holding a Bearded Dragon, and my 3 year old son was very taken with all the rabbits. All the staff are helpful and friendly. The food in the cafe was a decent price and very tasty, and the home-made cakes were delicious. We will definitely visit again!

User

Really good fun for a day out with my toddler.

Not the largest place; which is actually a good thing so you can take your time and get to go back to see favourites.

Play areas were lovely and cafe reasonably priced with good food.

User

Our family visit (4 generations) was enjoyed by all. The staff are doing a wonderful job of looking after animals who have been rescued or passed on to them for various reasons.

It is well set out with information about each species and there is also plenty of equipment for children to play on. The cafe is lovely and well stocked with goodies for all ages.

A lovely few hours visit. They are doing a grand job.

User

My boyfriend and I visited Ark today, it was raining all day but we still had such an amazing time! My boyfriend paid for me to do the meerkat encounter which was incredible! It's so nice to see a sanctuary with rescued animals in, animals given a second chance and finally in the right hands! Well done Ark for everything you do and have achieved! Can't wait to come back and do the fox encounter! Thank you so much for such a fab day!

User

Had a lovely afternoon with our family. Worth the visit just to meet Chewbacca the goat and watch the Tanukis sqwable amongst them selves. Excellent cafe with amazing cake and lovely staff helped make the day even better. Will definitely be back if only to finally see the honey badger.
