Well NY Times this is interesting!

Lavender essential oil can be useful for anxiety. Evidence from multiple high-quality randomized trials suggests a role for lavender essential oil in the treatment of anxiety disorders. The calming effect of lavender without sedation is discussed, as well as a lack of dependence.

User

Be careful and store essential oils carefully around children. Small children put almost anything in their mouths. Check out the US poison center reports with adverse incidents from essential oils reported to poison centers in the USA 1995-2015. Most not serious and most accidental ..."but they show a worrying upward trend for children under 6, compared with older children or adults."

We are looking for entries that inform and inspire, move us, or all those things. You may already have a story to tell us and we’d love to hear it. Or if you need some help getting started you can consider aspects of experience such as: which essential oils did you use? How did you or your client feel before and after its use? Did aromatherapy change your thoughts and feelings about the labour? Do you think it worked more on the body or the mind? How did aromatherapy affect the atmosphere in the birth room?
To ENTER: Please send entries via Facebook - please click on SEND MESSAGE from our page facebook.com/AromatherapyForChildbirth Entries placed publicly on our page will not be accepted
Or by email to aroma.midwife@gmail.com

Consent must be gained from all those involved in stories shared, names can be changed for anonymity.
No judgement will be made about spelling or grammar mistakes, we are interested in your story not your writing ability.
The competition is free to enter.

You do not need to have attended an Aromatherapy for Childbirth study day to enter

Good aromatherapy tip. We are often asked about good general aromatherapy books. My favourite evidence based one at the moment which has recipes for different conditions is Aromatherapy and Essential Oils Handbook for everyday wellness by Nerys Purchon and Lora Cantele. Published by Robert Rose.

User

Very professional, enjoyable and informative. Can't wait for the next course.

User

This course is excellent. In depth and very practical information to use with women during childbirth. Everything gets to the point which is great because it means they are able to cover loads within a day. I highly recommend it.

User

The most enjoyable and inspirational study day I have done. Great balance of theory and practical sessions. Learnt so much and have already starting using what I learnt in my clinical practice. I gave two ladies who were in the induction of labour process a massage in a separate room so we could use the diffuser as well. Both women loved it and we all felt very relaxed. Looking forward to hearing about further courses.

User

The best aromatherapy workshop I have ever attended so far! Thank you.

User

Thank you to Jude and Lindsey for this brilliant study day. I loved the mix of theory and practise used to teach us and of course all the stories that were told by the ladies. I would recommend this course to any midwife interested in learning about aromatherapy as I would feel very confident in giving advice about suitable essential oils and their uses for pregancy. I will look forward to a second day of teaching should the other course become available! Hope you enjoy your other Irish days.

User
