If things are getting on top of you, why not try #Mindfulness? AMEND developed some free resources and podcasts so give them a try this World Mental Health Day. "Mindfulness can help us become aware of the choices we make in life, and make changes if we want to. By paying attention (through formal and informal practice) to our thoughts, feelings and body sensations we can better notice our responses to things, become more self-aware and able to manage our lives, emotions and circumstances positively." #worldmentalhealthday https://www.amend.org.uk/mindfulness/

The pituitary gland can be found at the base of the brain behind the nose, in a bony box called the sella turcica . It is very close to the optic nerves from the eyes and therefore, occasionally pituitary growths can cause problems with vision. They may also cause headaches. 3 out of 10 (30%) of MEN1 patients will develop a pituitary growth. https://www.amend.org.uk/patients/informa tion/men-1/ #OctoberPituitaryMonth #PituitaryAwareness

"Transition is a process, not a single event, and it takes time, planning, support, and children’s and adults’ services working together" A excellent patient's perspective of transition from paediatric to adult services. https://www.bmj.com/content/362/bmj.k3886

The level of support is outstanding and the charity works tirelessly to help all affected by MEN, not just those with the condition. Without AMEND and the Facebook groups in particular, we would feel isolated, and confused by this rare condition as finding non-medicalised information is difficult, but the information booklets written by Jo and other specialists are a valuable resource. Thank you for all that you do to help us feel like we are not alone, but part of a very understanding and very special family <3

I was so surprised that there was a group on Facebook for pheochromocytoma and Paraganglioma. My husband had a pheochromocytoma at 14 yrs old. Almost 50 yrs later he has a Paraganglioma on his chest wall! Had surgery on 1/12 now we start radiation therapy. It’s so great to read about this disease.

User
