"This year, like last, it has been virtually impossible for teachers to predict their students' results because of a lack of certainty in the new 9-1 grade boundaries."
- Dr Mary Bousted, joint general secretary of the National Education Union

"It is hard to avoid the conclusion that an incredible amount of time and energy – not to mention at least £745m, according to the National Audit Office – has been invested in a huge reorganisation that has delivered patchy benefits at best."

The end of term is imminent.
Schools in some areas have already closed for the summer.
Head teachers and their teaching staff do not know what is happening with regard to pay.
... Governing bodies cannot discuss how they will implement the pay increase.
Along with our fellow unions, we've written to @DamianHinds asking for urgent clarity on teachers' pay.

We’ve signed an open letter with School Cuts representing 39 Local Councils telling Damian Hinds that funding for children with special educational needs and disabilities is inadequate.
This has left 2,000 children with no education provision at all. We need urgent action on this.

A report commissioned by the National Literacy Trust has found that half of teachers feel that the national curriculum does not equip children with the literacy skills they need to identify fake news, and a third feel the critical literacy skills taught in schools are not transferable to the real world.

“As an English teacher, I have no problem with Shakespeare, with Pope, with Dryden, with Shelley...But I knew in a school where there are 38 first languages taught other than English, that I had to have Afro-Caribbean writers in that curriculum, I had to have Indian writers, I had to have Chinese writers to enable pupils to foreshadow their lives in the curriculum.”
