Join us for a spectacular evening of music, poetry and comedy from some of London's rising artists as they unite to raise money for Wind Up Penguin Theatre Company's summer projects and to celebrate our 6th birthday!
We'll kick off on a mellow note with poetry from the likes of Omar Bynon, musical comedy from Isabella Brownson and Bianca Watts, cheesy acoustic pop from Elisabeth Swedlund and Jo Hill, and some sweet music from our wonderful house band. Then as Friday evening ...turns into Friday night we'll have a set that's bound to get your feet a-tapping and your hips a-grooving!
Wind Up Penguin has been running for a number of years, taking music and drama students from London's leading drama schools and conservatoires out to perform musical drama to some of the most vulnerable communities of children around the world. In the past this has included trips to Peru, Bulgaria, India and Brazil and this year three groups of students will be visiting India, Greece and Jordan. Our aim is very simple; we believe laughter and fun should be a birth right of every child. The Wind-Up Penguin Theatre Company is an enormously precious project that works closely on the ground with local communities and groups to perform freshly devised works of musical theatre. These are performed without language and give the children back their power to laugh for the sake of laughing.
So head down to Babel for a nice tune, a pretty poem and a little movin' and groovin' to celebrate us making it this far and to help us move forward!
Entry: Standard £4 Student £3 (All profits will go towards funding our summer projects!)
House Band Drums: Sam Every Bass: Michael Dunlop Vocals: Meg Bird

After a non-stop open mic series since January, Babel Open Mic is getting ready to take a short break for the season and this means we need all our performers to get back so that we can have a "united" open mic, for one more time!
We will have distinguished featured guests coming from all genres of art, be it spoken word, music and/or performance art. Our in house piano is provided as always!
For 7 years, Babel Open Mic has been thriving in London's "open mic" scene, bringin...g talents from a wide range of genres and disciplines by establishing a solid "community".
We are proud to announce that acknowledged author, Jonathan Kemp will be reading on Thursday as our featured guest!
Come along and be with us on this significant evening!
Love, Onur
