About Banquet Records

We're an independent record shop based in Kingston who also put on bands and run club nights in and around the town. http://www. banquetrecords.com will tell you all you need to know!

Banquet Records Description

========== ========== ========== ========
Banquet is an independent record shop in Kingston, just on the outskirts of London. We're a real record shop run by real people. Our mail order is a big part of what we do, as we send out thousands of mail order packages a month. But we are and always will be, a real record shop on the High Street, or in our case, Eden Street. We sell new-copies-only vinyl, CDs and more from the worlds of indie, punk-rock, and modern dance music, as well as soundtracks and re-issues of classics. Navigating round our site should tell you more and give you a feel of what we're about.

As well as being a record shop, we're a concert and clubs promoter, putting on 200 events a year in and around Kingston. These range from intimate in-store gigs to a dozen people, to international touring bands playing our local 3-tiered theatre. Doing the small shows is just as important to us as doing the big gigs. Because we know it is to you too. Find out about our future shows from the events page.

Banquet as we know it today was formed in 2004 when jt and Mike took over the struggling business it was then from the ashes of the Beggars Banquet chain of shops. We continue to be run by and for music fans. We're very lucky to do this job and thank you for allowing us to do so.

Just before the release of his new album, Miles Kane returns to New Slang.
The third solo album from the awesome Kingston visitor Miles Kane, last heard on the second The Last Shadow Puppets album with Alex Turner. His shows are always something special and we can't wait to hear his new album 'Coup De Grace'.
... ŌĆ£This record for me is the most important record IŌĆÖve made to dateŌĆØ said Miles. ŌĆ£ItŌĆÖs been 5 years in the making, a lot of emotion and excitement has gone into making this album!ŌĆØ Since joining The Little Flames 14 years ago, Miles has seen the pop climate change considerably but still believes the magicŌĆÖs in the music. HeŌĆÖs like an excitable schoolboy who just went to his first gig. His enthusiasm is contagious. ŌĆ£For me to really love someone, I have to want to be them,ŌĆØ he enthuses. ŌĆ£You want to look the way they look, move the way they move. To me, going to my first gigs, it was always otherworldly: how do I get there?ŌĆØ
Doors & stage times TBC, but we expect doors to be at 9:00pm with Miles Kane on at 10:30pm.
After the show, it's New Slang as usual where you can expect to hear the likes of Arctic Monkeys, The Wombats, Wolf Alice, The Vaccines and many more until 2AM.
Albums + Tickets will be available from the events page: https://www.banquetrecords.com/events

On the eve of the release of their new album, Slaves play at New Slang.
The magnificent indie-punk-rockers are returning to New Slang once again to celebrate the release of another album, this time it's number 3, titled Acts Of Fear And Love. This duo shouldn't need too much of an introduction, they create gritty, solid, in-your-face British punk. Don't miss out on this, it'll be the first real hectic New Slang at our new venue, Pryzm.
... "While everyone's focused on hating each other, now feels like a good time to divert their attention to love."
Doors & stage times TBC, but we expect doors to be at 9:00pm with Slaves on at 10:30pm.
After the show, it's New Slang as usual where you can expect to hear the likes of Jamie T, The Wombats, Wolf Alice, The Vaccines and many more until 2AM.

have been to this shop for 2 record store days and load times just to shop plus 2 instores and will never have a bad word to say about the place, the online shop is great too think it's safe to say my favourate record shop in all of london by far

User

The ultimate record shop in London! Best staff, best music, best gigs, just the best all round. Big up Banquet!!

User

The best independent record shop I've seen - with world famous bands and up and coming talents on show multiple times a week and a great selection of music available in store, Banquet is faultless.

User

Spend most my time at the counter chatting to Claire and hoping to meet a dog. Also enjoy actually buying records here. Always happy to order in anything I ask for with no judgement and quick service. My favourite place in Kingston, despite Jon's terrible puns.

User

So much more than just a record store ’┐Į

User

Responsive staff and the Khruangbin LPs arrived rapidly. Great service!

User

Really kind staff, it's great to see a record shop outside of central london still doing really well. Great diversity in genre. I may have to use it for Record Store Day next year.

User

One of my favourite places ever, donŌĆÖt buy records anywhere else

User

Nothing bad to say about these guys. The service, always good, counting that I live in Spain. The service was excellent, and the prices, unbeatable. Long live Banquet Records!

User

Never been there before but any shop that has a double gatefold of OK Computer in its most prominent position (vinyl of course) and Oh Wonder playing next door deserves 5 stars at least in my books....

User

I was in the area working, got finished early & thought I'd take look. I'm really glad I did. I've been buying records for 30 odd years now & shops like Banquet are getting harder to find. I mean how many quality records do they have? Brilliant, a proper record shop. Staff were great too.

User

I ordered the Y kant tori read vinyl, the Record Store Day edition and I just received it today in France and well-packaged. Thanks.

User

Always order from banquet records online and visited the shop for the first time today. Staff really helpful and polite. Whenever there is a problem it gets fixed :) love this shop!

User

Always on time with Pre-orders and I've found so many new bands with the suggestion cards they add to the order. ’┐Į

User

waited a week in order to get a response about my order. i asked about it just to make sure they had it in stock, emails got ignored, dms on insta got ignored, and when i finally got to chat to somebody on twitter i was greeted by a very rude rep. you should probably invest in better pr and customer services.

User

So, I can only reiterate what has been said before; I pre-ordered the new limited edition Soulwax album which was due out on the 9th June. It wasn't sent out in time for release as stock was delayed. I was then informed that it was sent later that day and to expect it on Saturday or Monday. It didn't arrive so I contacted Banquet who told me to wait until Friday for delivery and if it didn't arrive, I'd be sent a replacement. It didn't arrive so I was told another copy was sent out First Class and to expect it on Saturday or Monday. It still hasn't arrived and I NEVER have issues with my post. I don't know what happens next, but it's safe to say that after reading that others have had similar issues, I will take my custom elsewhere!!

User

Same issue as others. Preordered a vinyl bundle, nothing received on release day. Emailed, was blanked until I harassed them on Twitter (I eventually received a response after multiple attempts to contact them. Whoever tweeted me was incredibly blunt, rude, and unhelpful on multiple occasions), was eventually told they had no record of my order and they'd resent it. A week later I'd received nothing and they ignored 3 emails in a row from me. AVOID!!!

User

Purchased an album with ticket to a show. Postponed for 18 months and not willing to replace or reissue lost tickets even though lots of time elapsed. I would expect this from a large multinational but would have liked a local Indy music store to be a little more helpful and friendly.

User

Ordered Say Anything - Is a Real Boy... in February 2016 with it being a pre-order for May 2016 which is fine, not a problem. It's now very nearly the end of the year and getting on for a year since my original order and I still don't have my record - they've had my money! Absolutely no communication/updates about my order unless I've contacted them which I have done twice, "supplier issues" is the reason supposedly. Won't be using this shop again, Amazon third party sellers are cheaper anyway. Gutted.
