I recommend this stall next time your at the Barras. Tourist love all the Scottish sweets to go home with them. I just love the sweets to eat at home. So remember to call in and see the Sweetie stall.

It is a work in progress but any thoughts or contributions are welcome.
We are also looking for current Barrowland pictures so if you have any good ones, please send them in and we will give you a credit and a virtual hug.

My dad has a stall here...spent many a day learning the who's who and what's where...looking for bargains?...you just have to know what you're looking for and where to look...sure, some folk will take you for a mug (my dad would NEVER btw...doesn't have a cruel bone in his body!!)...
It's a great place to visit. More people should come as they don't know what they are missing. Lovely stall holders and plenty of bargains to be had.
It's a great place to get Vintage Clothing, Antiques and listen to all the patter. Going down every week or once a month it's amazing stallholders get to know you and I think that's excellent.
I must say personality duz enthusiastically appeare whenst.I am hear ENJOY life. I do lucky me. Enjoy life friend's.
I have been going here all my life (45 years) and always love the atmosphere and the bargains. It is a bit quieter than it used to be due to the many car boot sales nowadays.
Fabulous place to have a rummage & find a hidden gem

Crap crap crap not the way it was years ago.full iv junkies n people selling dodgy gear.its a shame.mrs mciver will be turning in her grave the way that place is now
Brilliant place for picking up anything you need Saturday and Sundays
A must for glasgow touring !
bit rough now but still a gòod market lots for sale and lots of boxes to ratch through.
I remember going to The Barras with my Dad in the 70s, at that time it was heaving with people Tthere were traders selling huge piles of plates and blankets etc etc competing with each other for customers with their huge voices and effortless sales banter , and hilarious Glasgow Patter. You really could get anything you wanted there, it was noisy , the air filled with the smell of frying onions, and Glam Rock and Elvis blasting from some of the stalls
I was there on Sunday, it was very different, no traders selling their wares, no crowds, lots of empty stalls, but dyou know, it still felt the same. Smell of onions in the air, posters of old pop stars all over one huge wall, Elvis blasting from a shop, and there is a trader who sells old Glasgow prints and has a video playing of old Glasgow from the tram era , watching that video took me right back to 1973.
The Barras has changed, Vintage shops etc, not a bad thing, but the essence of it is still there. If you can, go and see it before its redeveloped, because once they knock down the old buildings, the whole atmosphere will change. As it is now, it's living history and some of the old characters are still there
It was evicting and a bit edgy when I went with my Dad, and I'm really glad that I got to see The Barras when it was full of life.
Haven't been here in years and had a great time walking through and listening to all the patter lol
Fantastic market full of everything you could think of and what you could never think of ...brilliant experience, lovely people and great old ,new & obscure items for sale
Very run down now - I realise it must be about 30 years ago now that the Barras was still a busy place, but not anymore. I think the Blochairn Car Boot Sale on a Sunday has taken over. If they got rid of the folk selling bootleg dvds/CDs, Tobacco and Viagra it might attract more stall holders and customers. Definitely not the Barras it used to be of years gone by. Shame. We did enjoy a nice plate of mussels all the same!
