Here's a few pics of our re-useable Beardy Folk pint cups. #refillnotlandfill. We were blown away by the small amount of waste onsite and have never seen such immaculate festival camping and food court areas. Many thanks to everyone who kept the site so incredibly tidy and for taking home recycling. We will have recycling stations in 2019. You are truly brilliant! THANK YOU x

Please read this fabulous review from Festival's For All. Thank you Barrie Festie x Here's to 2019!

User

Wonderful weekend. Plenty to do and see for everyone of all ages, very good choice of food outlets, good beer, all at very reasonable prices. Good mix of music and activities to keep us all entertained. Plenty of clean toilets. Didn't give the solar power shower a go, but looked interesting! Struggle to find a negative, can't even knock the weather! Please can we have better signage by the road for next year? Or can we do it all again next week please! Well done to all the team.

User

What an amazing festival! I can’t praise this this event enough as the attention to detail was just superb. The atmosphere was really welcoming and the line up great! We will be back next year definitely

User

What a great first festival! Well done to David, the team, all the stewards, artists and anyone else who helped out. An interesting mix of music for a folk festival but a brilliant weekend - the Tom Dibb band! what a great bunch of blokes. Well done booking the great weather, thank goodness for the tree :). It was well organised with only a few teething problems - remarkable really. As all the artists said, long may it continue!

Some asks - but by no means a criticism

Please issue the set list with the tickets

Dont give priority for the top of the field to the campervans - mix it up :)

More shade / cover - line part of the wall with gazebos?

Too late a finish on the Sunday for those traveling any distance. - missed some of the acts

an open mic / new acts stage outside the wall - encourage more spontaneous music

-

Thanks again, what a weekend x

User

What a brilliant weekend we had. The beer was great, plenty of choices of top quality foods, the kids had a whale of a time as there was tons for them to do. The setting was incredible - what a stunning venue!

To the organisers and all the folk behind the scenes, I just want to say a massive thank you. We had such a great time and everything seemed to run so smoothly, was hard to believe it was Beardy Folk's first year as it felt so established. We'll be back, that's for sure!

Lastly (and most importantly!) the music was perfect. The sound and lighting was incredible but all the acts (and the variety) were what made truly special for us, and the compare did a wonderful job of keeping us informed and entertained

.

All in all, a pretty perfect weekend. Thank you and we'll see you next year!

xx

User

This is the first music festival I have bought my 4 and 6 year old boys to and what an introduction!!! Fantastic music and great kids entertainment. Great Beer tent and selection of food stalls. Well done Beardy Folk Festival!!!!

User

Really lovely festival, clean, relaxed, friendly, well thought out and well planned. We came with our 3 children and my parents and we all thought it was great. We all enjoyed the music, entertainment and the surroundings and would definitely like to attend next year. Well done to all involved!

User

One of the best events held at Hopton Court. Our group ranged from 12 to 56 years old and there was something for everyone. My daughter loved the Ferris wheel & glitter tattoo. I loved the music, sun, cider, the venue & the Falafel feta pita. As a local I also enjoyed listening in my garden. See you next year hopefully and please bring the sun again x

User

Many congratulations to David and the team for a wonderfully organised, beautiful and harmonious midsummer weekend. We had such a lovely time. There was a real mixture of acts on - some were more to our taste than others, but that was fine as it gave us time to go and eat! Particular highlights were Kathryn Roberts and Sean Lakeman, False Lights, Granny's Attic and Grace Petrie. New to us and excellent was Tom Dibb. Camping was on good ground, spacious and close enough to the main site. Location was stunning. Stewards were welcoming and helpful. Tree outside the garden was wonderfully shady and provided welcome respite! I felt a bit anxious that the numbers seemed low despite the camping field seeming full, I worried that the organisers and the performers may feel it wasn't a success, but would imagine that if it hasn't blown the bank completely then numbers will only grow. Suggestions for next year (hope there is a next year), some additional form of shelter (for rain or blistering sun - many folkies are getting on a bit and may have avoided the risk of bad weather when booking - those of us who did sit it out have sunburn now!!). Visible backstage faffing was a bit distracting. A programme with running order handed out on arrival (we only discovered there was one at the end of Saturday!). And I am not sure if so late a finish on a Sunday before a work/school day is a great idea, we had to leave early and miss the last few acts - and we weren't the only ones. Leaving me worried about what the audience was for Nick Heyward who I would have liked to have seen. But these are just teething things, it was a lovely lovely festival. Thanks so much.

User

Loved it! The line-up was outstanding, the location superb and the food and drink were excellent. I was camping and was very happy with the site and facilities. It's hard to find a criticism - I suppose personally I would prefer the last band each night to play a little less loudly (but I'm probably in the minority there). I'm definitely going next year and will recommend it to all I know!

User

Great festival. Long may it live and grow (but not too big). Setting is idyllic and music fantastic. Session tent needed please, preferably close to the bar.

User

Great festival with nice beer and food. Loved how there was always live music to see, between the main and acoustic stage. In a brilliant setting I am sure it will grow in popularity.

User

First ever festival, first time camping with toddlers, all 3 of us enjoyed this family friendly festival. Kids were entertained by Ron the balloon man, Jitterbugs circus and the pizza guys. We had an amazing time and will be there next year! Thank you for the memories.!!!!

User

Fantastic weekend at this friendly festival! The highlights for us were Jitterbugs Circus, Ron the balloon modeller and Wyld Thyngz in the woods. The kids were kept enthralled by all three. Relaxing welcoming weekend for adults and children alike. Great food, nice chilling out listening to music. Thanks so much hope to see you again next year!

User

Fabulous Fabulous Festival!!! Excellent organisation, great food stall stalls and Beardy Bar and most of all the sound was absolutely amazingly clear and precise! Well done Dave, his crew and the Pacific Sound and Light team! We will definitely come back next year....provided it’s not sold out, which is very very likely! Get your 2019 tickets as soon as you can!!

User

Amazing festival which is going to become bigger year on year. Amazing staff, stalls and food! The music was great. Glad to have been a part of the first ever one!!

User

Absolutely glorious weekend! This kids adored the circus (especially bubbles!), Balloon and magic man and Wyld Things! Excellent selection of foods and great beers too. Lovely music (perfect venue with gently sloping field for main stage views), clean toilets (no queues!), Great camping! Please run again next year - we will definitely come!!

User

A brilliant weekend! Camping pitches were a good size and toilets well cared for. Not sure about the solar powered shower! Skerryvore were the highlight for me, hopefully they will come again. Weather was perfect, but will remember to bring a sun umbrella next time. I agree that the backstage activity was a bit annoying, but already looking forward to next year Well done!

User

Richard Digence a master of his art. Skerryvore, Orphan Colours, and 3 Daft Monkeys all excellent but not sure the right place for a protest singer.....

Wonderful setting and good staggering of main and acoustic stages.

The sound was top class too!

User

Great little festival which is going to grow in popularity over years to come. Almost guaranteed attendance from us as it is close to home and in a beautiful setting. Visitors from further afield will probably want to explore the beautiful Shropshire area beyond the site.

Choice of bands was excellent and varied and Skerryvore was the absolute highlight for us. Sound was superb as were the views on the grass sloping slightly towards the stage.

The all round atmosphere was friendly and welcoming. Good food choices and plenty of peripheral entertainment for those who want it. Lots said about that in other reviews.

Numbers attending seemed low this time, but it was the first year and the reputation of this festival will definitely grow.

A few small constructive criticisms:

The backstage activity behind the artists was extremely annoying, especially during the afternoon sessions before the stage was lit. I don't want to see roadies coming and going, or some bloke playing with his phone while artists are working hard to perform. It just needs a screen or curtain!

The camera work in the video clips you shared on social media was awful. Shaking, blurring, fingers over lenses and highlighting the empty areas in front of the stage etc etc. Just needs a bit more thought and care.

The MC was, frankly, annoying with his pink and gold jackets! Tried too hard to whip up enthusiasm and it was cringingly embarrassing at times.

Criticisms aside, we had a brilliant time so congratulations to the organisers and volunteers. We will definitely be back next year!
