Did you know we are an International Society of Feline Medicine Gold level 'Cat Friendly' clinic ? - one of only a handful in London! This global programme has been developed by the ISFM to help make vet clinics more cat (and cat owner) friendly. There are lots of ways in which we do this. To learn more - you can download our 'Cat Friendly Clinic' factsheet at https://buff.ly/2AO8Klj

Here are our very own Paul Pollard (Head Vet) and Nadene Stapleton (Vet - Exotic Pet Services) from RVC Beaumont Sainsbury Animal Hospital. They worked alongside other RVC staff at popular 'Night at the Vet College' event held at our Camden Campus. The event is very popular with local residents - both adults and older children. We hope the younger attendees have been inspired to become future vets and vet nurses! If you want to know more about studying at the RVC: visit https://www.rvc.ac.uk/study

Flash is a gorgeous 44 year old spur-thighed tortoise. She came to see our exotic specialists at the RVC Beaumont Sainsbury Animal Hospital because she wasn't eating very well. Our exotics team completed a investigation including blood sampling and ultrasound which revealed a condition called follicular stasis. This condition is common in reptiles and is when the ovaries make lots of yolk-like follicles. Instead of continuing the process to produce eggs, they stay in their y...olk form and build up inside the body. The follicles can build up so much that they compress on other organs. Many different factors can cause this disorder and treatment involves surgery. Flash was placed under general anesthesia and her shell was cut to take out these follicles (see photo below) then the shell piece was reinstated. Her shell will take many years -10+ years!- to fully heal! We wish Flash a speedy recovery and hope she will be back to her normal self soon! If you are worried about any of your pets please call and book an appointment with our exotics service on 020 7387 8134

We are delighted that RVC Beaumont Sainsbury Animal Hospital has been nominated as 'Practice of the Year' for the PetPlan awards. What makes this award particularly special is that we have been nominated by satisfied customers. Running the practice is truly a team effort involving not just staff but also our final year students who will become future vets and vet nurses. Thank you to all our clients for your support - we won't rest on our laurels so keep letting us know how we can help you further.

Thinking of getting a hamster this Christmas? They are often a childā€™s first experience in pet care. Our team at the RVC Beaumont Sainsbury Animal Hospital are keen to ensure they know to expect from the outset. We do not recommend gifting pets for Christmas. However, If you wish to gain a new pet this Christmas, please do your research and adopt, donā€™t shop. A good place to start is our ā€˜Caring for your Hamsterā€™ fact sheet so you can see whatā€™s involved in advance. https:/.../buff.ly/2r4Q2Bm Already have a hamster and need a health check? This is Percy, a lovely bearded dragon owned by one of our animal care assistants based here at the RVC Beaumont Sainsbury Animal Hospital. Percy hatched from his shell with his curly tail and is named after the 'Percy Pig' sweets. Our exotic specialists conducted an x-ray to make sure his tail was healthy and that, as he grows, his tail grows correctly as well. The x-rays showed Percy's tail was fine and that it should continue to grow without any issues! It is always best to be sure with reptile pets as they can often have bone problems due to their lighting. For advice about your exotic pet or to book an appointment, call us 020 7387 8134. Here at the RVC Beaumont Sainsbury Animal Hospital, we have had a young stray rat handed into us. If you have a lost a rat in the local area and think it may be yours, please give our reception a call on 0207 387 8134.
Please do not be offended if we ask you for a description of your lost pet, as we do so to ensure that we find our little visitors their correct home.

Calling all Border Collie owners .... are you able to help our team? You could help make a real difference to this breed's future health and wellbeing..

Thanks to all of our clients; friends and fellow pet lovers who attended our recent RVC Pet First Aid event. Carole and Paul from our RVC Beaumont Sainsbury Animal Hospital team along with students and colleagues led a fun and information-packed morning. We raised valuable funds for the RVC Animal Care Trust - our charity. This money will be re-invested to fund vital hospital equipment for our most poorly pets. Wanna say a big thank you from Den Den ( The spoilt bearded dragon ) for looking after me. Staff are fantastic and friendly. Going to recommend to everyone. ļæ½

User

This is a marvellous Animal Hospital which has so helped our two kitties Angel and Sooty. The staff is wonderful and skilled, caring and reassuring. We are very grateful. Thank you.

User

They are simply amazing, kind and knowledgable - cured my little Herbie and Iā€™m so grateful - thank you!

User

The best veterinary care & practice!! Although it's not local for us (1.5 hours drive one way) but 100% worth it! My Pharaoh Hound have had some health issues where our previous vet after all blood tests & scans done was not able to diagnose/confirm the cause. Really glad I've been recommended (by friend) Beaumont Sainsbury Animal Hospital. My "furry ginger friend little one" had surgery done last Thursday & recovering really well. A huge BIG thank you to all staff, nurses, Vets & Veterinary surgeons xxxxxxx

User

The best rabbit care care you could ever hope for. We've just moved from Camden to Peckham and we still take our two to Nadene and Jo at the Beaumont Sainsbury for vaccinations, check ups and emergencies - we can't imagine anywhere else coming close.

User

Such excellent care, even if the cat does not like going. All the vets, students and nurses are on the ball AND kind.

Sadly, we have had to say goodbye to an important part of our family ..as Randy (aged 18) became too unwell to carry on . The staff at the Beaumont Sainsbury Animal Hospital handled the difficult situation with compassion and understanding and immense professionalism .

We have just received a condolence card from the staff, which was gratefully received and so supportive, after all we all went through the event together.

We have not yet received the bill and I feel grateful for their respect .

A truly marvellous and trustworthy service .

User

Sadly had to put down our cat today ,very happy with the care given ,if we were to get a new kitten in the future ,I would definitely use Beaumont for their care.

User

Our Rabbit Rosey was sadly admitted to you following an ongoing stomach condition, itā€™s not the first time sheā€™s been in and she was given the best care possible. We were kept informed throughout, everyone was sympathetic and understanding, treating Rosey (and us) with compassion and care, and of course Rosey received unrivalled veterinary care. Thankfully Rosey is coming home today and we have nothing but admiration and thanks for what you do, the exotic vet team, Jo, Nadene, Vicki and Matt. Along with the nurses and reception staff, thank you all.

User

My go-to vet for my pet houseducks. I've been to several different clinics since moving to London, but Beaumont Sainsbury is the only one that that has substantial expertise with waterfowl.

Plus, the staff is so friendly, the equipment is all new, and they even have separate waiting rooms for different species so none of the patients get stressed out! Isn't that nice? I've never seen that at a veterinary hospital before, I don't know why it isn't more common.

User

My dog has been registered there for 10 years now.

We always had great experience and good advice. I called at 7pm one evening panicking about my dog, they were wonderful and told me to bring him in straight away and he will be seen asap. Was seen at 7.20 and they were marvellous.

Just want to say a big, big thank you to all the front of house staff, nurses and vets for the care that they have shown my dog Buster. Unfortunately Buster passed away peacefully 2 weeks ago and they have been so kind to me. I can't speak highly about them all, a special thank you to Nadine who Buster liked a lot lol x

Just joined before Christmas and so glad I changed vets. All the staff were great, extremely understanding and reassuring. Excellent service and fair pricing. Would highly recommend them and so does Muggie ļæ½ļæ½ļæ½

I have been delighted with the treatment my dog has received so far - fortunately, nothing major or 'critical' but just general visits have been thorough and follow up visits have been easy to attain. I'm delighted there are early morning hours during the week so one doesn't have to miss excessive time from work to take their little one in to be seen. Thank you, Beaumont Sainsbury Animal Hospital! Keep up the good work.

I have a wonderful German Shep who is very old, has no real history and gets anxious sometimes which I think may be due to her past - I was fortunate enough to adopt her two years ago and was told she might live a few weeks or months.

Your staff, vets, students and nurses are all wonderful my mutt. They also seem to indulge my questions etc despite me being utterly neurotic regarding her welfare.

The expertise, care of animals and their people and the obvious dedication there is absolutely invaluable. I wouldn't trust anyone else with my girl and cannot recommend you highly enough.

User

I cannot fault the care for any of my animals. The skill of the vets are amazing and the nurses are knowledgeable and compassionate. Couldn't ask for better

User

Had to say good bye to my dog today the service which they provided was excellent and the best vet I have ever been too. Would recommend this vet to all my friends and family.

User

Fantastic vet, very knowledgeable and caring. Huge fan!

User

Amazing staff, so knowledgeable, caring, helpful and friendly. My guinea pig Alistair was seen the same day as an urgent referral and admitted. The vets discussed the treatment plan and diagnostic options with me, and arrangements were made for me to visit. I was able to spend an hour with Alistair on each visit, and I even had a cup of coffee made for me. Each day I get a call to keep me informed of his progress, and also as soon as test results become available. Any questions I have are answered in a clear and reassuring manner. I have every confidence that Alistair is receiving excellent care, and that he is respected as a little character with his own personality.
