"Sir, when a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford"
Samuel Johnson.

Tread the paths which haven't changed in hundreds of years, the same streets, courtyards and alleyways as shown on John Roques map of 1746. Hear tales of Kings and highwaymen, murderers and mad men, artists, actors, courtesans and creatures of the night. Ghosts and costermongers, inventors, musicians, forgers, brawlers, pure finders, link boys and mud larks. Cutthroats, Queens and grave robbers... - take tea in a garden or a port in a cellar. Finish if you like in a pub which has some grisly secrets. Three walks every weekday in August at noon two pm. and 4:30 pm Leaving from the steps of St. Martins in the fields. From £10 pp.

Want to go and see the Houses of Parliament? Westminster Abbey? St. Pauls? The Tower of London? Tower Bridge? British museum maybe? Well good luck and hopefully you don't mind huge milling crowds. All excellent places ! All with their wonderful history and tales to tell.. We don't go there... we will show you the real London, the London of the people, places half forgotten, - poignant memories of the past.

Sunday city strolls... The city on a Sunday is practically deserted, a good chance to soak up some of its sights.. How about the churches from 'Oranges and lemons' ? .. all with their own tale to tell.... Now you've started humming the tune in your head why not book a Sunday afternoon?

'A whole day out in Greenwich' After meeting in Trafalgar square we will travel by boat down river to Greenwich passing by some of Londons most iconic landmarks. On arrival at Greenwich, a part of London saturated in London history and home to past Royals and great events through the past thousand years, we will board the Cutty sark ship, a beautifully elegant tea clipper now in dry dock. Then we can visit the historical naval hospital laid out by Wren and the wonderful work... of the artist Sir James Thornhill in the painted chapel. Close by is the first Baroque building in England the Queens house built by Inigo Jones in the early 17th century. On to the maritime museum and see the uniform Nelson was wearing when he was killed in battle in 1805.. All cultured out? How about a break at a pie and mash shop and try some traditional London food. On to the market for an unhurried browse and perhaps a couple of antique shops known for their quirky momentos. Through the beautiful Greenwich Royal park, itself with past tales to tell and on to the observatory with its wonderful exhibitions of the history of latitude and how it was discovered and of course have a chance to stand astride the meridian line where east meets west and time begins.. after this visit, time for tea in a very English setting, perhaps a stroll in a rose garden, there may be a game of cricket being played, then a stroll to an iconic London pub for a taste of English beer before catching the boat back up river to central London. On this walk which is designed to be all day, there is no rush or hurry, the pace will be set by you and the places we visit and the things to experience will depend on circumstance and of course the weather... makes it quite exciting really. All walks are fully insured and accompanied and we will return to the place we started from. Comfortable shoes and perhaps a brolly are advisable.
