Men’s 1s Match Report Saturday 23rd March
BBHC 1 - 2 Mid Sussex
The final game of the season saw BBHC travel to Mid Sussex with the knowledge of no teams being relegated from our league #winning (we didn’t but I’ll get in to that)
... Arriving in Sussex in good playing conditions and the first game this season in which the entire squad was available the boys were buoyed and ready to take all 3 points. The game started in favour of BBHC, pressing the opposition and causing the home side concern, however a quick counter caught us off guard and the attacker coolly slotted past Cook, 1-0.
We didn’t falter and continued to press and our diligence paid off! A hit to the back post meant Steve Porter was able to scramble the ball over the goal line, 1-1.
Unfortunately we couldn’t find the killer instinct before Mid Sussex carved a hole in our defence again, 2-1. After half time we continued to press and honours in the second half were split and remained goalless, meaning a gutting 2-1 loss when either side could have won on another day.
Man of the Match went to Scott in his last game for the club. A feisty and sometimes incomprehensible lad who was a great addition to the squad, we all wish him well.
DOD went to the captain, Dave Humber, for causing one car to arrive 45 minutes early before the meet time, sending an aerial over the fence and into a crowd for the fourth time this season and for having terrible hair. Despite this abuse, he has decided to remain captain for another year.
The 1s have had a tough season and despite all this our spirits have remained relatively high and we look forward to the season to come.

Not the nicest game of hockey🏑 to finish on for 🐝s L1s but it was quite eventful for our spectators - thank you🧐🤩 for coming to support🙌 We played 💩 away to Gore Court. Keels was yellow carded🤯 for seeing red😳, Becka now AKA 1 eyed willy👁 took a ball to the eye & that was just the first half!! We did not play the way we wanted to today😬😔 Shows we still have a loot to work on as always😴💪
HOWEVER - it is the last league game of 2018/19 season & we have h...ad a terrific season overall👏The commitment, fight🥋& team spirit💙the squad have shown this season would make any coach, manager, club proud. We are proud ladies, thank you🙏for your hardwork, enjoy celebrations🎊🎉this evening & at Club Dinner Dance in a few weeks💃🕺you certainly deserve it🥰
