Bidwell Farm Cottages Description
Our self catering holiday cottages which are both rated 5* Gold with Visit England are situated in the Blackdown Hills; a designated area of outstanding natural beauty. The 5 acres surrounding the properties offers a peaceful and idyllic setting for friends and families that are looking for a relaxing break.
Each cottage sleeps 6 in 3 en-suite bedrooms with all modern conveniences such as free Wi-fi, SKY tv, DVD player, i-pod docks. The cottages have log burners in the sitting room for cosy winter evenings. Logs are included in the price.
A gift pack of local produce awaits you on your arrival including fresh duck eggs, homemade bread and award winning wine, cheese and chutney.

The ground floor twin in the Cowbyre is our most accessible cottage with a paved ramp from the car park and the en-suite bedroom being on the same level as the kitchen diner. The Haybarton was renovated 20 years ago from scratch with barely a wall standing. Bidwell Farm was historically a working farm but it had been left to ruin and dereliction for many years. Our cottages have been renovated sensitively; trying to combine traditional features with modern comforts. There is nothing that makes us happier than when we see guests arrive and the kids immediately pour out of the car and into the garden. With 5 acres of private grounds there is space for epic family games of tag, rounders and cricket. We provide outdoor games equipment in both cottages and we have wooden swings (including one for smaller kids) too. We all spend too much time inside and nothing makes me happier than when we, as a family disconnect from technology and reconnect with nature. It’s one of those days today where you can feel the warmth of Spring finally creeping in. The sun is a little higher in the sky and the crocuses are beginning to appear. This is one of our favourite walks at Castle Neroche in the Blackdown Hills. We stayed in both cottages last week; a big family holiday for my Dad's 70th. No photos can do this beautiful gem of a place justice, with its big sweeping vistas of the Blackdown Hills and attention to detail inside the cottages anyone staying here is in for a treat. When you venture out there is so much to do in the area, beaches, gardens, farms, walks, forest bike rides.... And plenty of good places to eat, although cooking in the main kitchen is a joy, too. A special mention to Richard and Patsy, who are delightful friendly hosts, always time to chat and happy to help out when needed. A fantastic week. We stayed in Cowbyre Cottage here, one of two cottages adjoining the owners parents home in the delightful village of Upottery. The cottage has three bedrooms all with en-suite bathrooms, a living and dining area with a great wood burner and a well equipped kitchen. The cottage is finished to a high standard and is warm and comfy and spotlessly clean. Views from the cottage are out to the extensive grounds and adjoining countryside which is really beautiful. Great base to explore this beautiful area and a pub within 10 minutes easy walk, even in the dark (although torch advisable!). Richard and Patsy, the owners parents make you very welcome and are on hand should you need any help/advice. A welcome pack including local produce and a treat for our dog was much appreciated.
Many thanks for another fantastic week at Bidwell Farm. The peace and tranquility were just what we needed. Accommodation first class, extremely comfortable, and had everything we needed for a family of four adults with space to spare. The welcome from Richard, Patsy and Caroline lovely and we are looking forward to seeing you again soon. X
