Another solid day of Charity bike factory delivery this week to KPMG's senior management development programme and great that they are on board for a further year. This relationship alone will have produced by next year 192 childrens bikes that have been donated to fellow social enterprise The London Early Years Foundation with a value of £28,800.00. As a result of this partnership we are really able to lay foundations to tackle childhood obesity and rebuild inner city parental cycling habits.

Test riding our new 8 seater human powered vehicle !!
We are very excited to have test ridden the first 8 seater Ricksycle in UK. We can increase this to a maximum of 14 currently but you can go as big as you want. This will be a game changer in our approach to activating those furthest from physical exercise, looking at reducing car journey's and allowing people with a barrier to cycling get active and mobile.

We've been going to the Feb half term club for the last three year. And today was one of the most happiest days- my daughter ride a bike for the first time! Thanks for your support

User

Very good customer service .

cool lads .. highly recommended ... !!

User

Very friendly and helpful staff. The mechanics are great, they care about your bike and always give you advice. They don't try to rip you off, they are actually very helpful and let me use their tools and repair my bike in their shop for nothing. Thanks!

User

Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent service every time I'm there. I'd be lost without these guys.

User

Today I took my dad to an all ability cycling event run by Bikeworks at the Olympic Park VeloPark. The staff were fantastic and it is a brilliant service.

My 88 yr old dad who has cycled all his life until 2 years ago because of a stoke got on a recumbent bike and cycled round the park.

Fantastic for his physical and mental wellbeing.

Thank you!!!!

User

The fix your own bike sessions are brilliant. Do go if you vaguely know how to use an Allen key. For the love of god, don't go if you hate ska (I am dead serious). Honest advice and guidance and reasonably priced second hand parts.

No fancy road bikes or head to toe Lycra here - most people who go here use their bikes for everyday transport, and bikeworks clearly care about getting you (back) on the road with as little damage to your wallet as possible.

User

Thanks, over the moon with my new fsa headset brilliant customer service very helpful staff and a very nice shop, thanks again be back soon

User

My sons and I had the good fortune to meet some of the staff and volunteers of Bike Works outside The Velodrome at Olympic Park on Tuesday. My sons participated in the free cycling event and got to try out several different bikes. They had a fabulous time. Thank you so much.

User

I'v been there many times to fix my own bike and find difficult small parts for my bikes. They always friendly and helpful. Thx to do this enthusiastic job.

User

I work with adults with learning difficulties and we reguarly go to the all ability cycle group on Wednesday's (Victoria Park Hackney) and The Olympic Park. Very good, supportive people and this is an activity my client looks forward to; indeed this is a great opportunity to learn new skills and promote further independance.

User

I had a great experience this morning at BikeWorks, after a huge plastic bag got completely twisted up in the back wheel of my bike, including in the gear. They were super helpful, at first cutting it out and then removing the wheel to free my poor bike of this twisted piece of plastic. I go to BikeWorks for all of my cycling needs. Thanks so much, I'm very grateful!

User

I am extremely grateful to Bikeworks for patiently guiding me through the process of replacing my disc brake pads and adjusting the brakes. What’s more, they wouldn’t even accept a penny off me.

Dave was very helpful and I have learned a skill for life now so I no longer feel nervous about working on these tasks myself, nor will I have to wait until I have enough cash spare to take it in to get serviced.

I will certainly be considering one of their beginner’s maintenance courses in future so I can learn even more.

Thank you, guys!

User

Great service and communication and info from henry

Thanks

User

Bikeworks is absolutely great. They are all super friendly and with amazing mechanics. As a social enterprise, they are very different than other bicycle shops, where they just think about money and sell you stuff. There they really care to people and the bikes, and that is wonderful!

Thanks for everything!

All-Abilities @ Bikeworks

Happy Christmas & Happy New Year!

I had the good fortune to meet such friendly staff & volunteers at the Saturday all-abilities Victoria Park/Olympic Velodrome in June! There support, encouragement and patience in my aim to successfully learning to cycle a bicycle is appreciated. when obstacles came about they were very professional in finding solutions. It's been an achievement of mine for many years that I care to mention. A massive thank you to the all-abilities club!!!

Warmest wishes

After four hours of patient and thoughtful tuition I have finally been able to achieve my first ride-very wobbly and am not yet fit for the public highway - am so delighted and thankful (not to mention rather emotional). Many have failed in the past to 'teach' me.

The all ablitty cycling is nice in wormwood srucbs.

I had a terrible experience with a recent "full works" service here and I would not recommend the mechanics.

Following my fairly old chain coming off my bike mid-cycle, I dropped in to bikeworks to sort it and while there decided to book in for a full service.

I have a pashley 5 speed with a sturmey archer hub. Three main issues with the service as follows:

1) rear axle nuts not done up, only finger tight. Caused significant slipping of axle meaning the gears quickly went out of alignment while cycling then the tyre also wedged against the frame causing the wheel to seize and forcing me to emergency stop midway across a major road junction

2) rear brake-arm stabilising arm was not screwed to the chainstay, with 1mm of thread showing before the nut. This affects brake performance, as well as being a potential source of the wheel locking up while cycling. Plus, not doing nuts up is really bad form.

3) the bike's sturmey archer 5-speed hub is in good working order. When the bike shop called to say the 5th wasn't engaging, it showed a lack of awareness of this quite common, long-established bike component. Makes me question the mechanics technical knowledge and competence. In fact they suggested I replace it with a three speed? Never had any issues with my five gears before or with any other shop. And it works perfectly now btw (thanks to my husband).

These are fairly basic errors yet potentially very dangerous and I would urge caution to anyone thinking of using their mechanics as I really question their competence.

To their credit, when I went back to the shop to complain, the retail manager handled it well and I was given a full refund. Customer service might be good but the technical knowledge is lacking, not great for a bike shop.
