Join us for a 'bring and share' lunch after the morning service at Perry Street. For those of you who haven’t experienced one before, here are some ideas about what to expect:
*Relax Bring and Share lunches are not meant to be stressful or burdensome for anyone! Eating together is a wonderful way to share life with one another; we welcome new people, get to know each other better, share conversations and make friends...as well as enjoy some wonderful food!
... *No rotas Each Bring and Share lunch has a character of its own. We don’t make lists or rotas to coordinate things ... preferring to enjoy whatever food is brought to be shared. Just come prepared to play a part in setting up, washing up and tidying away, if you are able – many hands make light work!
*Enough and a little bit more You may be asking what food you should bring. As a guide, bring a savoury and/or sweet dish in quantities that would feed yourself/your own family plus a little bit more. Some amongst us are eager cooks and will be happy to prepare food in bulk, whilst others will find this prospect daunting and still others will be having a crazy week or simply forget! Personally, I have found myself in all these categories over the years but the welcome is the same. Wonderfully it all seems to even out and there is always enough to go round. Dishes that work well include (but are not limited to): - Savoury: Salads, pizzas, quiches, baked potatoes, slow cooked casseroles/chilli, sandwiches, bread, cold meats, cheeses, dips, savoury snacks, etc. - Sweet: Crumbles, cheesecakes, chilled desserts, cakes etc. We have facilities to cook pizzas etc and encourage you to make use of the church fridges when bringing cold dishes. The meal usually starts around 12:45pm, so there’s time to nip home to collect food if needed.
*Family-friendly Bring and share lunches welcome all ages and are particularly enjoyed by children. We simply ask that you supervise your own children, as they enjoy time together with their friends, and encourage them to tidy away any toys/equipment they have used. Thank you
We hope to see you there! If you have any further questions, please contact Fiona Burgess, or the church office (01277 654316)
