We are selling a limited quantity of asparagus this weekend. Not sure how long it will last so best to phone 01892 862940 to avoid a wasted journey.

Only 10 days left to go! We will finish cutting at the end of next week, and close the shop finally on Saturday 23rd June. Grab it while you can!
Cutting has begun, if a little slowly, and asparagus is for sale 7 days a week from Birchden Farm. Opening hours are 9am to 6pm Monday to Saturday and 9am to 4pm on Sunday. We will be open on the Bank holidays too. How to find us: we are on the road from Groombridge village heading towards Frant, opposite the end of the bird reserve. We have plenty of off-road parking.

Another asparagus season over. We had a final cut last Friday, it's all been sold and the sun hasn't stopped shining! This balmy weather will be good to get the asparagus up to fern quickly, then it can start the photosynthesis process and start storing sugars in the fleshy roots for next years crop. Thanks to all our customers at our retail outlets in Groombridge, Ightham and Westerham. Also our trade customers locally and further afield. Lastly, the boys cutting in the field and the girls sorting in the building.
End of season relaxation!
Just two weeks to go for this season😢. We will take our last cut of asparagus on Friday 16th June and sell it over the next couple of days. Today we a at Lewes farmers market, and next Saturday we will be at Tunbridge Wells farmers market ( outside the Town Hall).
The season has started! The shop will be open for sales of daily cut asparagus from Monday 10th April, our earliest start to the season ever! Open 9am - 6pm Mon - Sat and 9am - 4pm on Sunday.
No April fool! We cut this this evening (2nd April) and are going to cut the rest of the field tomorrow. Exciting times.
One week after the end of cutting and the fern is starting to grow. We could really do with some hot weather to encourage quick growth so the fern needles can start their work of photosynthesis, and turning sugars into carbohydrate to be stored in the fleshy storage roots of the crown. Plenty of moisture in the soil, where's the sun?
