Gabriel Jones
- Gabriel is a published poet and music producer from Aberystwyth in West Wales. He has performed his poetry around the U.K including Bestival, Camp Bestival, Bradford Literature festival and Lovebox. He has made work for BBC Falling Tree Project, Edinburgh Fringe, Everyman and Playhouse. He is a Barbican Young Poet alumni and current Roundhouse Resident artist where he is working on the project 'Let me out my room please' putting soundscapes and beats to poetry.
Kit Finnie
- Kit Finnie writes poems that are honest and particular, looking slant-ways at her childhood in the East Midlands, Britishness and, mostly, the ravages of time. According to A Younger Theatre, she makes spoken word ‘ripe and ready for the taking for every single member of the audience’, and the Morning Star has called her performances 'effervescent'. Kit is a Roundhouse Resident Artist, member of Barbican Young Poets and Spit The Atom, and has been published in several zines and anthologies.
Since 2015, SpeakEasy, the night she founded, runs and hosts has held a monthly residency at the Phoenix Artist Club in the heart of Soho. The aim is to give a platform for spoken word artists (broadly defined) to share new, experimental, raw work. Her podcast, The Patch Project, about lost text, experimental to-do lists, and found poetry, was first released in early 2018. This Edinburgh Fringe, she will be taking her debut solo show to Underbelly- a ghost story about women in the early days of Hollywood, titled 'Mabel and Mickey'.

OPEN MIC
Our open mic is often a bit special, isn't it? Wanna be part of it? Read on.
All you have to do is comment on this page to let us know you'd like a spot, then on 27/09/18, we'll put all those names in a hat and draw them out live for Facebook.
Didn't get a spot that way? No worries, you can still sign up on the night - open mic sign up starts from 7:30pm.
THE VENUE: We don't think we're exaggerating when we say we've got one of the nicest poetry venues out there. We're right on the river in the upstairs room of the gorgeous Rutland Arms - we've got our own bar and even balconies for you to have a smoke, a chat or even just take in the views. You're going to love it. We do.
YOU GET A HUG AND YOU GET A HUG!
Love, The Boom Team (Tyrone and the 4 J's)

i think that my favourite bit is when they're good at poems and so every bit is my favourite

User

This event seems to always have such a friendly and receptive crowd! Whether it's a feature or the high standard of open mic performers, like a boomerang, you'll end up coming back!

User

Talent galore and the laughs left me on the floor definitely heading back to this again:)

User

So welcoming! Can't wait to go back next month! BOOMEROOMEROOMERANG

Seriously stunning panoramic views of the Thames as you perform at one of the highest quality open mics in London.

User

One of the best spoken word nights in London, without a shadow of a doubt. Fantastic hosts, consistently stellar line-ups, brilliant crowd. What more could you ask for? :)

User

One of the best nights I've been to! Great hosts, great poets, great audience!

User

Not only a wonderful night but the hub of a genuine, lovely community of poets. Supportive and hilarious in equal measure.

User

I've been to many a poetry night in London, but Boomerang is easily my favourite. I rarely venture so far from my East London nook otherwise, but the journey is always worthwhile. The venue is spacious and delightful, the hosts are a joy and the level of talent across both features and open mic is unparalleled. I'd highly recommend it to anyone, aficionado of poetry or not!

User

I've been going to spoken word nights for nearly 7 years and this is one of the friendliest and most fun nights out there. Stellar bills every time, warm and inclusive open mic.

User

I would say I average 8 or so poetry nights a month and honestly I don't think there is any one I look forward to more than Boomerang Club. The hosts are incredibly welcoming, the audience are always supportive and the line up is always always filled with diverse and wonderful pieces from standard 'spoken word' style poets to much more reserved introspective pieces to the weird and theatrical. Going here for a year now it is easy to see why they secure such great features every month. Also BY FAR the most beautiful venue I have performed in with a view overlooking Hammersmith bridge. Top night. Simple as

User

Honestly one of the best spoken word nights in London. The location is amazing, it's literally on the river, with a balcony overlooking it. It's spacious, there is a bar, you can have food served to you if you so wish, and the feature poets are always on point, not to mention the open micers! Also the hosting is wonderful and it's a very welcoming community, if you're shy you have nothing to worry about. I would highly reccommend this night to pretty much anyone who's into poetry.

User

Cracking night, great features. Beautiful people. And the best view of any poetry night in London!

User

By far the best poetry night I’ve been too!

And what a venue/view!

User

Boomerang is totally amazing and everyone should go ok

User

Boomerang is one of my favourite spoken word nights in London. With energetic, talented and welcoming hosts Joel Auterson and Jake Wild Hall how could it be anything but? There is always a great warmth in the room and NEW SHIT is both encouraged and applauded. If you haven't gone, GO!

User

Boomerang Club is a consistently high quality variety performance show packed to the rafters of exceptionally unique performance artists. Many of the acts you'll see here every month are seasoned professionals in their own right, others come here and experiment their one man scratch shows and micro-dramatica before it hits the stages of EdFringe and further.

The riverbank room with a bang - Boomerang Club.

User

Awesome event. Friendly atmosphere, always has a high quality open mic and headline acts worth paying to see.

User

An excellent night with consistently out-of-this-world feature acts, a tradition of a strong open mic section, and some of the loveliest, most welcoming hosts on the scene
