We went here last night to celebrate my mums 70th birthday... there were 12 of us in the party.. food was great and the service was absolutely fantastic! They were really helpful even though the place was packed... would highly recommend it! Thank you so much to all the staff... u made my mum's evening very special!!
We stopped for lunch on our way through the town. It wasn't that busy mind you it was 2.30. Our meal was lovely as were the staff. Couldn't fault anything.
Visited garden centre at Wendover, called in for lunch before heading home. Excellent service, food fab nothing too much trouble for the young waitress (shame didn’t see a name badge)! Definitely will return.
The kids menu great for the cost
Good size portions
Jacket potatoes are gorgeous
Friendly staff (if they are a bit slow at service because they busy they do apologise )
The food was very good & the staff were very helpful & wonderful service. The drinks were very good.
Second time we have been here, once for our Anniversary and today for my Birthday... both times the food has been excellent, hot and cooked fresh and very tasty, and both times excellent polite service even though we had not booked in advance we were made to feel welcome with nice quiet tables each time..... Being on a low income a meal out for us is a real treat and it was nice to have a good experience each time so far.. Disabled parking is always available and I like the way the staff don't "hover" waiting for you to finish and get out like other places seem to do lately. Thank you very much.. we shall be back :)
Lovely food only thing,on line booking didn't work booked on line but no reservation but managed to get in and a lovely meal.
Good atmosphere. Staff were friendly & polite. A lovely family pub. Food was very good.Welcomes people with all disabilities. Would go back there again.
Four of us came for lunch, Staff were attentive, food was very nice. Will recommend to others!
Celebrating 3 family birthdays, had a lovely meal, food very good , service was friendly and attentive. Mostly looked after by a lovely waitress called Georgia. Would definitely go again , excellent overall experience..
Called late in the afternoon on a Sunday after another local restaurant let us down last minute, for a booking of 14 Adults and 3 kids, you managed to seat us in the same area very very close together on 3 tables, your service was second to none, and the waitresses worked extra hard to ensure all our needs were met, on top of that you impressed every single one of us with the food, presentation and taste were spot on and we were all very very happy. And the price was very reasonable. I can highly recommend this restaurant for large or small parties, you will receive A1 service with enjoyable and delicious food at great prices.
Nice old style pub, quite a wait for food, basic but ok, nothing out of the ordinary was tempted to ask if you've got a kitchen hand going ..... scampi minimal chips tiny portion mushy peas dried up in a tiny dish ...... no presentation ,,, ohh let me in the kitchen and plate it up ....
The pub us in a nice location the service was good..
As for the food was above average had the Gammon which was ok but the new potatoes where very dehydrated as what the peas..
The food here has always been fine it’s the service that always seems to be very slow. I understand Sunday’s are a busy time for pubs but having booked an early lunchtime and there only being 5 full tables I’m not sure why after being shown to our seats it took so long to take our orders for drinks and food. Especially as we could see the young waiting staff freely chatting to each other. I eventually went over to whom I can only assume was the manager to ask if we could have our orders taken and it was then that he snapped at one of the girls to take our orders. The food took an age to come as well with people who’d arrived after us receiving their mains at least 10 minutes before us. I was hoping having experienced this below average service about a year ago that things may have changed for the better but obviously not.
Spacious pub and restaurant, with good quality food at reasonable prices. The dining area is sufficiently segregated from the bar area if you want to enjoy a peaceful meal.
The staff are pleasant and helpful too.
The only negative aspect is the garden, the grass of which is covered in discarded cigarettes, and so not particularly family-friendly or welcoming to anyone who doesn’t smoke. Non-smoking customers should also be able to enjoy a drink or some food outside without having to inhale second-hand fumes.
Most pubs now provide a separate area for smokers, making the other customers the priority, so I am disappointed that at the Boot & Slipper their approach isn’t likewise.
We have eaten at the Boot and Slipper more than 20 times in the last couple of years and it is usually excellent but today's Sunday roast was so disappointing. The 2 roast potatoes we all got with our roast were hard and not crispy, a bit like eating a part boiled potato and the Yorkshire puddings, well you couldn't really call them that they were completely flat like eating a pancake. Usually the service is very good but we had to wait 20mins before our drinks order was taken and it was a good hour before our food arrived. Sorry Boot and Slipper but I don't know what has happened but it was really poor today.
Food was good but when we where ordering was told that the roast pork might be finished it was 6.30pm we had booked a table
For 6.00pm it was quite when we got there but it took ages to get served the service was very poor the 4 adults had finished their pudding and I was still waiting for my coffee it was only when my daughter in law asked where was coffee and it was cold we also had my 15 month old grandson with us it took two and half hours in the end we asked for the bill and left will not be going back there
Having used this pub for many years with several generations of my family I was insulted the other day by Ijaz the manager .
We were sat at a no smoking table in the Garden. No one else anywhere near.
We were asked by the manager to move over to the smoking area !!!
Being a vaper I do not wish to sit with or around smoke . My Grandaughter has Asthma.
Not impressed having the manager raise his voice to us .
Even though a table was booked no one seemed to know anything about the booking @1pm ..they found us a table for 6 adults and 3 children. Took an hour to get our main meal..Sunday roasts looked hot ..but everything else was luke warm.
No fillet steak ..not available
No sudaes and no cheesecake.
Puds were ok but not warm as stated...
We finally left the pub at 4pm ..3 hours for service annoying to say the least.
Now having said all this i fully understand why the meal was delayed ..it was quite clear they were under staffed ..being under staffed is managements fault no one elses ..I was outside having a smoke to hear a member of staff obviously the cook. so stressed out screaming and shouting with quite a few choice words .. and i can hardly blame him "only 1 person in the kitchen and that was him" And in no way did i blame him ..you cannot push someone as in 1 person to cook for a full pub of people and get it right ..your management needs a serious shake up ..I really felt sorry for the lad cooking as to get that stressed he clearly wasnt being listen too .. and by the sounds of it it wasnt the first time either .. If you dont value your staff and just keep pushing and pushing you will lose customers .. it is managements fault ..no doubt
Finally they did knock a round of drinks off the bill .. but quite frankly i would like to buy the cook a round of drinks as he did his best ..and he deserves better.
