We're delighted to be taking part in Cocktails In The City for the first time this year, and will be bringing our uniquely botanical aesthetic to our pop up bar at this quite excellent, al fresco drinking festival. We've partnered with St-Germain to create a delicious, seasonal menu of refreshing cocktails. We do hope you'll join us (RSVP to the event in the comments): https://www.cocktailsinthecity.com/events /london-summer #CITCLDN

Discarded is an intriguing new vermouth, made with cascara - the leftover fruit from the coffee berry, a waste product in coffee production. Deep red in colour, rich and fruity in flavour, the cascara has been steeped in alcohol and blended into fortified wine. We are one of the first bars to carry Discarded and you can try one of their perfectly crafted signature serves here, now.

In case you missed the news, The Telegraph didn't and are spreading the word that Beautiful Allotment is coming. Mark your calendars:

This year, we're bringing together Father's Day and National Martini Day - because everyone's dad is James Bond to them!
So we've worked with the award-winning folks at Four Pillars Gin, all the way from the Yarra Valley in Australia to create a complex, elegant, boozy Martini which will be available here at B&H Buildings, as well as at Bourne & Hollingsworth Bar & Reverend JW Simpson from the 11th - 19th of June.
Four Pillars Rare Dry gin stirred with Martini Ambrato Riserva vermouth, Taylor's Port Wine Chip Dry White Port, a dash of orange bitter and a hint of grapefruit, served ice cold and up with a twist of lemon.

We had an early evening meal here and the whole experience was great - with friendly, efficient service and delicious food! The ambiance was very relaxing and comfortable too. Our daughters definitely want to return (me too!)! Thanks!

Super vibe and great service and food!!!

I visited yesterday with 3 of my friends, it wasn't my first visit, but they had never been before. We booked in for brunch at 12.30 and were served by a wonderfully attentive man (name on the receipt is Danilo) he really looked after our table and made us feel very special, bringing top ups promptly and without being asked! As always the food was gorgeous, the venue is beautiful and prices are very very reasonable! Thank you for making our brunch wonderful, we can't wait to come back again!

User

I hosted a hen party there this Saturday, and the service and food was outstanding. There was a bit of a mix up during the booking process, so I did have reservations about how it would go but it was brilliant. Thank you for turning it around, I will be returning!! Big big thank you to Jamie and his team! They really looked after us !

User

Had such a lovely time celebrating my friends birthday/Bon voyage. Such hospital staff; at your service at all times. Everything runs very slick and you leave feeling very spoilt. And of course the food, how can I forget the food! All freshly prepared and each course came very quickly! The bottomless drinks just kept coming too! Thank you. Will definitely return to your most decadent and bespoke venue.

User

Fantastic brunch. Staff very friendly and accommodating. They get really busy for brunch booked up two weeks in advance, so top tip would be just to turn up and they can usually fit you in by the bar. Which is actually a really nice place to sit. Would always recommend this place

User

Brunch was amazing. If only it was around the corner from me, I would be there almost every Saturday for breakfast

User

We had a lovely evening the service was excellent as were the food, drinks and cocktails. It had a informal relaxed atmosphere - on a Wednesday evening in mid January.

Would have been 5 stars if were not for two things:

1. We were told we couldn't have the promoted 'cocktail of the month', as 'it would take too long to infuse'.... a very strange response to being asked to make the cocktail you are specifically promoting. However they eventually came back and said we could now have it 'as they worked out a way to do it'..... hhmmmm - goodness knows what they did

2. The women's toilets smelt a bit like urinals...not good

Also, I think you could make more of the history of the building by explaining/interpreting what is was originally - the HQ of the Bourne and Hollingsworth department store - and making sure your staff are aware of this when customers ask about it.

User

I always enjoy brunches at B&H buildings. It is a solid brunch place!

Group of ladies out for brunch ! Service was very good , our table wasn't ready but we were asked to take a seat and drinks arrived. Happened to be a welcome hair of the Dog. We ordered from a decent brunch menu and the drinks kept coming (botom less deal) .One issue was one 'lady' was served much later as her burger had fallen on the floor (full marks for honesty). The food was good (bacon a bit over cooked ) we ordered several different dishes between the 7 of us and had no complaints. The bottomless drinks get a bit sickly after awhile with so much pear juice in the billinis. Would have preferred the option of paying slightly more for pure prosecco to go with the food. Have to mention the loos. Not really bothered that I had to mention to staff that the loo rolls had run out ((tissue in bag lady, me ) the sink, ney bath to wash your hands, is maybe an interior design statement, so ok, however the dirty moss sitting in the bath accessorie was a nasty step too far. We had a nice brunch and a good experience, just a few things that could be tweeked.

User

The Venue is super stylish, the food is good, the reservation system was not acceptable, reply after 3 workings days??? and when we finally walk in the hostess was too busy on her laptop, no time to attain us. Nevertheless the waitors were friendly and helpful.

User

Really poor service. Ordered the bottomless brunch and had a total of 5 drinks within over two hours (by drinks I mean Bellini's). We had to wait over 15-20 minutes in between which was really unfortunate given we were at a hens and had high expectations.

User

Food was very average and bland. The chicken dish with the sloppy mash and watery sauce was disappointing. The poached pear was still hard. I could go on. Service was ok and the general ambience on Saturday was good. Go for drinks but there are way better places to eat in London than this.

User

Average food and very salty bacon. They were also unable to substitute orange juice in to my friends Bellini when she started to have a reaction to the apple. Our waiter was fantastic but the management were difficult and unhelpful.

User

Went for an friends birthday- we booked the conservatory area and were really looking forward to it. The staff were very rude and unaccommodating when we were disappointed to be seated in a dark corner of the bar. The manager said he couldn't help us - we were then left without anyone taking a drinks order for 25 mins. We were then rushed out - the waiter brought the bill to us without us asking and he asked us to pay and leave. When we complained for the poor service we received no apology. We will not be returning.

This review is for bourne and hollingsworth at the winter house on December 1st 2017. I would like to start by saying we were extremely excited to experience the winter house pop up! I came across it, and knew we had to try and get a reservation. Luckily I was able to secure one before the venue was booked out. Unfortunately this event was highly disorganized and utterly disappointing. It started with with the reservation. I made a reservation a week in advance and was told I would get an email with a confirmation and menu selection shortly. I never got that email. I had to reach out to the company to get this sorted. A red flag, I know, but I was so excited I looked past it. On the day of the event, we arrive At 8:15 as instructed by the instructions. They’re not ready and ask us to return at 8:30. No problem, we do so. When we return we’re asked to leave our belongings in the cloak room and wait by the bar, someone will come to seat us. Most of the bar clears up and we’re still waiting. I ask one of the managers what’s going on; as we were one of the first parties to enter and still haven’t been seated. She apologizes and is extremely polite, then shows us to our seats. Great! The waiter takes our drink order and it takes about 25 mins for us to receive them! Around 9:30 the waiter asks us if we’re ready for bread. Rhetorical question considering our time slot is almost over. We get bread at about 9:40pm. At this point we start to write everything down as this service is unbelievable! We get our appetizers shortly after at 9:50. We ordered the chicken pâté which was great, however the warm sourdough was non existent. It seemed like they ran out of bread and instead served a cheap store bought 2 slices of awful “baguette”. the bread wasn’t even warm or toasted making it extremely hard to spread the pâté. The bread pretty much crumbled in your hands. Disappointed but eager for the next course, we stay positive and waited. The waiter kept apologizing for the delay, and we felt bad for the waiter as it wasn’t his fault, but at this point we were extremely frustrated! 10:20 approaches and we still have no mains. Just before 10:30 my partner gets his plate however mine is no where to be found. 15 minutes later they bring me the risotto which isn’t what I ordered. They take it back and in other 10 ten minutes bring my fish. However the problem is my partners food is cold while he waited for mine. they inform us that was the last beef and take both plates away. They warm my partners food in the microwave and bring both plates back. At this point we’re furious! We ask if they heated it and the waiter says yes. We inform him that beef over cooks when placed in a microwave, and always tastes funny after. Now the event has officially run out of food. The manger sits with us to talk and apologize about the evening. However instead of totally apologizing he makes excuses and says the venue was a construction zone just a few days ago and how it’s a miracle they’re operating. I’m sorry but this isn’t my problem. If the venue wasn’t ready for customers, they shouldn’t have had us. They definitely shouldn’t have had us pay ahead of time either! As we’re leaving the manager tries to give us advice of where to eat, I thought this was a joke! How dare he give any suggestions after we just wasted 3 hours at his pop up without eating!...about he venue, yes it was an interesting venue, I loved the decor and though they could’ve tried a little more it was good. However they failed epically when it came to comfort! The venue was ice cold! They barely had heat. You know it’s cold when most of the staff including “managers” are walking around with coats on. They kept the doors wide open which didn’t help either. Overall this place was a disaster! They dropped the ball on this event. Being new to London we were extremely excited to kick off our first holiday season right, however this event only showed us exactly what to avoid in the future. Horrendous job by bourne and hollingsworth at the winter house!

User

Not recommended at all, we tried to go there twice, we couldn’t, either to get a table nor standing at the bar. Despite i called them in the morning for a reservation for breakfast/lunch time. They told me on the phone: "Just walk in and you'll find a table or any available space" but when we got there we couldn't find a place to stay, not even for a Coffee, they sent us outside of the “pub”. Not organized and also the girls at the desk, they are not friendly, no customer service. The impression was that they think to be posh. We just waste time walking there for the second time.

Completely forgotten we were at the back of the restaurant we waited 20 mn for someone to come but apparently we were invisible! ! Shame the place looked nice

Nous avons ete completement ignores et delaisses au bout de 20 mn nous sommes partis en exprimant clairement notre deception

We had an early evening meal here and the whole experience was great - with friendly, efficient service and delicious food! The ambiance was very relaxing and comfortable too. Our daughters definitely want to return (me too!)! Thanks!
