Bronafallen is a homely EMI residential care home in the rural area of Uwchaled. We are situated in a quiet location on the A5 next to open fields yet minutes from the village of Cerrig Y Drudion. Bronafallen is registered with the Care Standards Inspectorate for Wales for eleven residents and provides care for the physical, emotional and psychological needs for the elderly with dementia.

The weather stayed fine for the highlight in our May schedule which was our support of the Alzheimer’s Society action week. We are proud to say that with the generous support or our staff, our visitors and the local community, we were able to raise £230.00. Our proprietor, Dawn Gittings, doubled what we raised, so we have sent the Alzheimer’s Society a cheque for £460.00. A huge thank you to everyone who worked so hard and helped us achieve this figure more than 25% than our... last year’s total.We celebrated dementia action week with a special program of events to raise awareness of dementia in the community, raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Society and provide an extra special week of activities for our residents.
Entertaining was provided by Dawns i Bawb and Gina. Janet Williams kindly gave us a wonderful spinning wheel and demonstration whilst singing traditional Welsh songs. This complimented our Welsh history quiz. We would also like to thank Janet for the Welsh song book and the 2 CD she kindly gave to us. Our Friday reminiscing session was enlivened by the visit from some of the staff from the Corwen Museum, Who brought various artifacts for us to examine and to bring to life memories of days gone by. We would like to thank Mary and Dilwyn jones along with Miles Wyett for spending their afternoon with us.
We had a community open day, serving tea and cakes all day with a charity car wash. We held a cake sale, a raffle and a guess how many sweets in the jar competition This was a hugely enjoyable week so thanks to everyone who made this possible. The Alzheimer’s Society have thanked us for our donation. They commented that this will enable them to continue their campaigning activity to stand up for the people with dementia, fund research to develop a cure and deliver vital services for people living with dementia.
