Look how adorable Chip is. Chip has been in for his first vaccination and microchip. He was very brave for his first visit and enjoyed his cuddle with Helen. 🐾🐶❤️

This is Rusty, unfortunately he inhaled this corn husk. We had to send him to a specialist referral centre where they removed it using a special camera bronchoscope. Rusty has made a full recovery. 🐶🐾❤️👏

Did you know that rabbits’ teeth grow continuously?? A good quality diet with lots of hay is essential! Rabbits need to graze constantly just like cows or horses, not only to wear down their teeth but to provide the bulk and fibre to ferment in their intestines. In cases where the incisors (front teeth) don’t wear down evenly, extraction of these very curly teeth is sometimes necessary as in Gizmo’s case. You may remember Poppy and her life saving surgery. This is Bonnie who donated her blood for poppy’s blood transfusion. We would like to say a huge thank to her and her owners!! What a hero! 👏❤️🐶

Many of you will remember Alison, who opened Brookend Vets and was the owner for many years. Unfortunately her dog Poppy collapsed because she was bleeding internally from a tumour. Following emergency surgery at Brookend and a blood transfusion (using another dog called Bonnie as a blood donor), we were able to transfer her to a specialist centre for further surgery and blood transfusions. Poppy has taken everything in her stride and is well on the road to recovery. 🐶❤️

Some of the Brookend ladies are taking part in Pretty Muddy 5km run this Sunday to raise money for cancer research. We would love to raise £1000, and we need your help to reach this target. Use the link below if you would like to donate to this great cause.

Top marks for everyone who spotted the grass seed!?👏👏
We are amazed how Pablo’s owners managed to see it while he was awake. This grass seed managed to get stuck at the back of his throat near his tonsils. We managed to retrieve it while he was under sedation before it caused too much trauma. Pablo has recovered fully and is doing great. 😁🐶❤️👏

We moved to Brookend from another local vet practice because we never saw the same vet twice. At Brookend we always feel like we get the best care, the vets all know us and clearly all care very much about the animals they see. Our 3 Newfoundlands and cat are always happy to visit and we know that they are always well looked after. I especially like the fact that the Vet will explain exactly what they are doing and are happy to listen to your opinion. It's a truly lovely place and very highly recommended. Thanks to everyone there for your care.

We have only been using Brookend Vets for a couple of months but in that time, the care our bunnies have received has been excellent. Everyone is friendly and happy to assist - either in person or on the phone. We would highly recommend their services.

We have been using Brookend since they opened in their present premises. They are all so efficient and their love of animals is always apparent. I can't thank them enough for their recent care of our beloved Lenny. Thank you everyone and especially Rebecca.

Really cannot fault the brookend team everyone from the receptionists nurses all the way to the head vets are friendly helpful and very good at what they do, me and Lola have been with brookend nearly 8years and now live in clacton but happily travel the distance to stay with this practice, big thanks to all the team for everything you have done for me and Lola over the years, and I'm sorry Mike I'm not picking favourites but I do have a soft spot for Rebecca �� her people and pet skills are amazing she really does make you feel she really does genuinly care even called me one sat afternoon just to see how Lola was doing, it's sometimes the little things that mean a lot lol, again thank you all

I've been with this practice for about 9 years for them to look out for my staffy Sox throughout her short life. My appreciation for Mike the vet is out of this world for the care he gave to her along with the nurses who have now been caring for my new staffy with as much care and love as Sox recieved. I would highly recommend this practice to anyone seeking the need of a thorough caring vets for a pet.

I would publicly like to thank everyone at Bookend especially Mike for all the love and care shown to Mills over the last 14 years.

For the last 5 years Mills has been treated for Cushings Disease with the help of her pills she has led a full and happy life

Sadly last week I had to make the hard decision of having her put to sleep :-( as her quality of life deterioted

I would like to thank Mike and all of the team at Brookend Veterinary Practice. The care and kindness they have shown to my extremely ill dog Cushtie over the past several weeks has been second to none. The team at Brookend worked tirelessly to save his life and I will never forget their compassion and humanity. He is now back at home, happy and thriving. I have never experienced veterinary care for my animals like this before. Thank you all so much.

Mike has just performed quite a large operation on one of my dogs, which involved a large lump being removed from her mouth, as ever he was awesome, explained what he had done in the operation and just popped back for a post op check and all is well....Thank you Mike and the whole team, you truly deserve a medal for your all you have done to help us and our now getting older spaniel.

I have been going to this vets since I got my kitten 5 years ago. They have always been amazing, I see Mike and he really checks over Smiffy everytime he goes in (he goes in a lot as he is not a well cat) I would highly recommend Mike and his staff, they are really friendly every time I go in or call up. There is great parking and a separate seating area for cats and dogs which helps as my cat is very nervous. Sadly I have to visit at least 1 month because my cat was sick from birth but it's nice to know that Mike cares so much about him and does everything possible to make him comfortable.

I am the locum vet from Australia who has had the pleasure of working at Brookend twice over the past 8 years and would like to comment that it is one of my favorite places to work. It is friendly and well organised. Hope to make a few return visits before my old bones give up on me. Thanks Mike and everyone for making my brief stay so pleasurable.

Brookend Veterinary Practice is by far the best I have been to with any of my animals but especially my furry daughter Bonnie, literally all the staff are amazing, receptionists are very friendly and they all care about you as well as your animal.

Mike especially for me and Bonnie has been absolutely brilliant, he has been treating Bonnie who was diagnosed with Copper liver disease a couple of months ago and she was in a critical state, and it was him who knew exactly what was wrong with her. He saved her life!!

I have to go in regularly as Bonnie is on lifetime medication and a strict diet, they all know me and know exactly what I'm there for so no stress or fuss, if Mike pops out to get another client and sees me picking up pills and food he will always stop and ask me how Bonnie is doing...he really is a fantastic vet as they all are. Appointments are always available usually within 24hrs so no waiting for days.

All round 5***** from us and a lifetime if greatfulness ���

Been bringing our Little terrier cross (Dolly) here for years Superb service from start to finish, recently had a very upsetting situation with her, the whole family honestly thought it was the end for Dolly � but with all the expert help, knowledge & compassion from Mike & the team, they worked extremely hard & we honestly believe saved her life!! We can not thank you enough!! The best veterinary surgery ever!

Highly recommend whether it’s for your dog, cat, goat chickens or any pet, they will do the job properly in looking after them! Once again thank you so much for helping our little rascal Dolly! �

Always there to offer advice and excellent service. Friendly and obliging and wonderfully empathetic when the worst comes. So lucky to have them!
