Mighty Max is our final engine to depart Brookside on his way to a new home at Grosvenor Park Miniature Railway Chester

Jean and the troublesome trucks departed Brookside on there way to Barnards Miniature Railway to join Jeremy one BMR to another

The junction signal that was brought to Brookside around 1998 from Miles Platting has departed. It is now on it's way to the Churnet Valley Railway where it will be brought back to full working order.

Sir Richard departed Brookside today to pastures new on his way to Thompson Park Burnley

Come and join us with Keeling's old time fun fair for our final day of running trains

Just a reminder this is our final week of operations our last of train running is the 2nd September. Keeling's old time fun fair will also be with us on the 1st and 2nd September we hope you can join us.

Due to the road being closed near the entrance of the garden centre we will not be running trains on Sunday but we will be open as normal on Monday

It took us two days to rebuild her then last Saturday she was fired up and steamed. She did a couple of laps light engine all working correctly . Here she is being blown down for the last time at Brookside and is being sent to Wakefield on Tuesday.

Last Wednesday Jane's boiler had been repaired and returned to us for reassembly

Jane's boiler failed a few weeks ago and had to be stripped down and sent away for retubing

Mighty Max is in service this week to take you on your journey

the railway is excellent and part of many childhood memories. I am so sad to hear that the railway is closing and my son will be gutted. Is there no way we can set up a petition or group to stop this happening? The garden centre and future families will ultimately lose out if it goes.

We only go to the garden centre here because of the railway. It would be incredibly short sighted to close it.

We love this place and are absolutely gutted to hear it is to be sold off :(

We came yesterday, really impressed by the attitude, knowledge and enthusiasm of the volunteers, they make it a very enjoyable day out, only reason we go to Brookside Garden Centre.

So sad to hear the news. If Wyevale intend to reopen, why have all the traons had to be sold off!

My little boy loved his first train journey... nearly as much as us! Thank you for looking after us and being so friendly throughout!

Just great fun. Me (43) and my daughter (6) love it.

Its brilliant. The people who run it do a wonderful job and i hope they won't retire for a long while.

I've visited in the past, but visited again today with my 1 year old daughter. In my humble opinion, it is the best miniature layout in the country. The tunnels, bridges, gradients and railway items give a surprise at every turn me the way it interacts with the paths of the garden centre always gives someone to wave to.



The only thing I would like to see is a little more variation in the steam locos. Jeremy is the only one that really stands out. I really love the little Exmoor 0-4-2T locos, but if there was something different to see, perhaps even just visiting locos in gala days, that would be lovely.



I also like to see the 5" gauge locos in the station building as a reminder of the history of how it all began.



I'm not the only happy customer, my daughter loved it too. We'll be back this summer, hopefully on a day the funfair is running too.

I went as a kid and now enjoy taking my own kids on- they all love it.

I hope this place never changes. It's a proper trip down memory lane. The shop and station are perfect. The train rude us brilliant and great value for money and the guys running it are so friendly. It's a shame about the rest of the garden centre. But the train is Def worth visiting! (I'm a little sad you can't go on Katie anymore tho)

A huge thank you to those that looked after and ran the railway, you have made truly magical memories every Christmas for my children. I appreciate all you have done and sorry you now have to leave.

We visited yesterday for the first time. My 3 year old daughter had a fantastic time so much so we had 2 trips on the train! My only negative comment is that on the way round it would be nice to have things to look at rather than the areas that the rubbish gets dumped.

It is worth visiting the garden centre just to have a ride on the train, especially if they are running the steam engines, & it doesn't matter how old you are!

A great little place. The chaps who work on the miniature railway are lovely. A nice place to kill a couple of hours with the kids. If I was to offer any constructive criticism it would be that the railway route could do with a bit of a revamp and a paint job, and the new restaurants prices seem a bit all over the place. Kids meals and coffee/cake etc reasonably priced, but then nearly £5 for a pork pie and a bit of side salad, or nearly £8 for a Cesar salad is a joke and off putting. Brookside pottery great as always and the garden centre is varied and well stocked.

I have visited every summer and Christmas with my family and now my own children! I was so sad to hear the railway has gone but to actually see what the garden centre now has become is heartbreaking the Averies are empty the garden train in the flower beds is all over grown and most of the paths through the trees alongside the railway are blocked off the garden centre was very commercial and over priced along with the restaurant
