▫️What is SULFATE?
... • Sulfates are chemicals used as cleansing agents. They're found in household cleaners, detergents, and even shampoo. •Two main types of sulfates are used in shampoo: sodium lauryl sulfate and sodium laureth sulfate. •The purpose of these sulfates is to create a lathering effect to remove oil and dirt from your hair. • ‘’Customers who want to avoid sulphates should look for ingredients like decyl glucoside, cocamidopropyl betaine, and ocamidopropyl hydroxysultaine, which are free of residual sulphates’’
▫️Why is SULFATE ‘bad’?
• Sulfates have been in hair products for years and it what causes the shampoo to ‘lather’ • Sulfates dry out your hair of its natural oils • Can cause irritation to the skin • Is what stings if shampoo gets in yours eyes
▫️So do I need to bin my current shampoo?
• No!- everything in moderation, but I advise my clients who colour there hair which is most of you- to use Sulfate free to pro-long your colour and minimise fading! • If you want a shampoo with less chemicals and that is kinder to your hair then make the switch!
