Rebecca Thickbroom is a well known artist who creates distinctive, sculptured and wearable art using polymer clay and mixed media materials and techniques. Her creations have been published in a number of publications, both in print “Polymer Art Projects – Organic” and on-line The Daily Polymer Arts blog. Rebecca kindly agreed to road test our Acrylic Paint Pens on polymer clay, here are her thoughts.
First I tested the pens on uncured polymer clay as I was interested to se...e if the colours would retain their pigment through the curing process, this can be a problem with some paints and pens. I was pleased to see the colours on my sample retained their pigmentation and I was especially impressed with how vibrant the scarlet red remained throughout the process as red is renowned for colour shifting. I did the same test on cured polymer clay and found that the colours went on very smoothly, remained true to application and stayed vivid. The paint dries quickly making the pens easy to use although some of the lighter pens required a second coat to ensure durability and solid colour coverage.
I thought them a good product for polymer clay and loved the versatile range of colours in the pack, including the metallic gold and silver that would be good for many jewellery projects.
