About Buggyfit Primrose Hill, Regents Park And Parkmum

Post natal exercise classes, which include group exercises specifically selected to strengthen and tone muscles weakened during pregnancy.

Buggyfit Primrose Hill, Regents Park And Parkmum Description

Buggyfit is the best way to get back into shape after the birth of your baby (or babies). Whatever your post-natal stage we have a programme that will suit your needs, instructed by experts in the field of post-natal exercise.

Buggyfit classes last 60 minutes and provide a full body workout. They start with a warm up, moving into a cardiovascular element involving power walking, circuit training, exercises to strengthen and tone particular muscle groups, and stretches to retain flexibility. The level of intensity depends on your own level of fitness, and all mums are encouraged to work at their own pace and concentrate on technique and form.

It is a great way to get fit, chat to other local mums, and give your baby some fresh air - no childcare required.

The classes are suitable for pre-natal women and mums who have had their GP check-ups (6 or 12 weeks for C-section births).

Class times and locations:
PRIMROSE HILL - meeting point "Trim Trail Entrance, next to toilet block".
Thursday - 11am

REGENTS PARK - meeting point "The Hub entrance to toilet tunnel".
Monday - 10am
Wednesday - 10am
(PARKMUM - Saturday 8. 30 (no kids))

HIGHGATE WOODS - Meeting Point - "Outside wildlife information hut next to café"
Thursday - 1. 30pm

Prices - drop in classes £10, block of 5 classes £45, block of 10 classes £90.

Limited to 20 per class, and will be on a first come serve basis.

"Would you rather?"
"Would you rather" questions are a great way to get a conversation started in a fun and interesting way. For the exercise version of the question, I will give you two options and allow you to pick? I may also let some of you bring your own "would you rather" questions for the group and I will join in. So have some interesting questions ready!!
None of you are allowed to ask "would you rather come to buggyfit or not?"
... There is NO CARDIO MONDAY this week but all other session are running as normal. Parkmum is called Se7en, so if you have not made it to a Saturday session yet why not come and try it!

My Baby's Birthday Circuit Training...
As my youngest is turning three this week I am going to use his birthday as my inspiration for a little circuit training. His date of birth is 7-8-2015, so, 15 reps of each exercises with 7 stations and a little bonus (8) station, 3 times round. You won't be bored when you do circuit training. Who is coming to celebrate his birthday?
... Do not forget Cardio Monday which is about shuttle runs, strengthening and toning exercises and there is No Parkmum this Saturday.

Time to get your Resistance Training On Strength training is a key component of overall health and fitness, and it provides an important balance to aerobic workouts. Muscle mass diminishes with age. You can counteract this loss through strength training. The percentage of fat on your body increases as you get older if you don’t do anything to replace the muscle you lose. Strength training helps preserve and enhance your muscle mass, regardless of your age. A regular strength ...training program helps you increase lean body mass and burn calories more efficiently, which can result in healthy weight loss.
Because of hormonal changes that women experience as they get older, they naturally lose bone density, putting them at increased risk for developing osteoporosis. Routinely adding resistance training slows bone deterioration and can help your bones grow stronger, help you maintain strength, and reduce your chance of developing, or slow the effects of osteoporosis. There are many ways apart from lifting weights to get resistance training in, and we cover these in our classes.
Cardio Monday is about shuttle runs and bum burner and Saturday Parkmum is called killer four circuit workout.

Bring on the Tan lines..... With the heat wave still going strong we are going to bring out the old exercise mat and reinstate it as one of the key pieces of equipment needed to achieve a full body workout. Through incorporating the floor mat into your exercise routine, you can develop core strength, muscular endurance, and flexibility.
So, remember your Mat/towel/picnic blanket, and turn up to see me this week. Do not forget Cardio Monday which is about shuttle runs and AM...RAP (as many rounds as possible) and Saturday Parkmum which is called Stampede.

Blackjack.... The game: to get as close as possible to 21 points without exceeding 21. The points are the same as the numbers on the cards with the picture cards (Jack, Queen, King) being worth 10 points each and the Ace card can count as either 1 or 11, as desired. If the player exceeds 21 they instantly lose (bust). Whoever is closest to 21 wins. For the buggyfit version I will bring out my exercise pack of cards to have some counting fitness fun. You get to stick or twist... when it comes to adding exercises!
Cardio Monday is about shuttle runs and a little upper body circuit. Parkmum this Saturday is CANCELLED!

Strawberry Scones Recipe
This week at buggyfit we are celebrating Wimbledon. So here is the recipe for the scones I am bringing or bought to class.
Ingredients.... 2 ½ cups of self raising flour 2 Tbsp granulated Sugar 1 Tbsp baking powder ¼ tsp salt ½ cup chopped strawberries (though I like to add more) 2 eggs ½ cup heavy whipping cream 1 Tbsp milk to brush the top ½ Tbsp course sugar to sprinkle on top
How to make
Preheat the oven to 200c. In a large bowl, stir together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Add diced cubed butter and rub together with hands until the mixture resembles pea sized coarse crumbs. Gentle toss in the chopped strawberries. In a second bowl beat two eggs and stir in the cream. Add the egg mixture to the flour and use a large spoon to gentle stir. Do not over mix. The mixture should just come together but some times you need to use hands and maybe add a little more cream. On a lightly floured surface lightly flattened out the mixture into a circle about 2cm thick and cut in any shape you like. Place on a parchment lined backing sheet and glaze with milk then sprinkle with sugar and place in the oven for 15-16 ingminutes, or until puffed and golden. Best served warm with more strawberries and cream. Enjoy.

Anyone for Tennis?
Nothing says Great British Summer like Wimbledon! Wimbledon is back on our screens, everyone has gone tennis mad and the weather has been rather HOT. That’s right, it’s the two weeks of the year when the sports channels and the news are taken over by men and women in white outfits playing for that all-important space on the winner’s board. Well maybe not as much this year due to the World cup!
If the recent tennis has left you feeling inspired get your whi...tes on and head to Buggyfit this week, every exercise we undertake will include a tennis ball, but no racquets or nets are needed. We might even have some strawberries and cream after class.
Cardio Monday is about shuttle runs and an upper body circuit. Saturday Parkmum is called Double Double Toil and Trouble.

UP UP AND AWAY, PARCHUTE MADNESS
This week we are going to include the babies by whipping out my multi-coloured parachute. This versatile parachute provides loads of fun for all. We can exercise our arms waving the parachute and of course get a few squats and lunges in too. All whilst we entertain the babies who will hopefully be loving the entertainment.
Cardio Monday is about shuttle runs and the mini band, and Saturday Parkmum is going to be called Killer Countdown.

Buggyfit's Sports Day 2018.

Expect egg and spoon races, tug of war, two-legged race and silly relays and it is the last week of our 100 hundred lunge challenge!
... Bring your competive spirit and start rehearsing for your child's first sports day when the mothers race will be a breeze thanks to buggyfit.

Buggyfit's World Cup 2018
The 2018 FIFA world Cup is finally upon us, and we will be taking on a World Cup theme for the week.
We are not going to play an actual game nor will we get knocked out, but we will take on some football fitness drills with some speed, agility, endurance with a little goal scoring and of course we have to fit in our 100 lunges.
... Represent your country and we will see who wins the buggyfit World Cup 2018! Also just a reminder to you all that Wednesday Regent's Park is for one week only going to move to 11am. All other session will run as normal.
Cardio Monday is about shuttle runs and a sleek and strong circuit and on Saturday's Parkmum we carry on the football madness.

The Belly-less Mums
Become a healthier you, start with accepting and loving yourself first. The Buggyfit Trainer from Peterbough DR Sports & Health incl Buggyfit Peterborough has started the #loveyourmumbelly #realmumbellies campaign.
If you want to join, start by taking a picture of your bare tummy (no face, just tummy) with a smiley face drawn on. See my Mummy image. I have had three children and bare the stretch marks and a Hernia Operation scare which are all pregnancy ...related. I love exercise but these things will not fade or go away so wear your tummy with pride!

It takes a community to raise a child, then who raises a mum?
Yes, its ok to have it all…. without the guilt! But we all need some help along the way and the biggest help we have is helping each other!
Hats off to us working mums! How many people would take on a non-paid (money) job with no training and a promise of huge rewards that you have to trust are there? Then you have huge expectations from all and sundry of what you should be doing…all whilst being sleep deprived…the...n just when you have steadied the ship, add back your paid job on top of all the other work! and then we do it again (baby number two or more). This week’s theme is sticking together and with this in mind we will complete team and partner challenges. We are all in the same boat so come and enjoy the ride together.
Cardio Monday is about shuttle runs and battle ropes and Saturdays Parkmum is called 4 & More and, in every class, we will fit in 100 lunges to continue our 100 lunge June challenge.

Buggyfit is a great way to workout for an hour whilst you have your little one. I feel sore after every class - a sure sign that the workouts are effective! The instructor, Becky, makes the workouts challenging (without even realising it) and fun. It is also a great way to meet other Mums in the area. I definitely recommend it!

Buggyfit at Regents Park and Primrose Hill was a regular fixture in my maternity leave weekly routine. I joined Becky and the other mums when my second daughter was 8 weeks old - the stopwatch reading on my first park bench shuttle runs on the Broadwalk was almost 4 minutes walking, which over time turned into 2 1/2 minutes running. I am hugely grateful for having come across Becky and the buggyfit crew for not only helping me improve my fitness but also for giving me an instant mummy support network of like minded people interested in exercise, healthy eating...and the odd glass of pimms!

I’m back at work full time now and these are a few of my happiest memories...

- Watching the seasons pass and colours change in the park from spring to autumn

- Seeing my daughter watching the leaves on the trees

- Celeb spotting David Mitchell and Dermot O’Leary in Regents Park

- Post workout coffees in the Hub and inner circle cafe

- Racing Becky’s kids on the Broadwalk (they were both significantly faster than me!)

- The ‘lets wear shorts’ pact during the heatwave!

- Jogging backwards up Primrose Hill

- Kids on a school trip cheering me on doing my agility ladder drills

- Those battle ropes...heavier than you think

- Sports day races with plastic eggs and spoons!

- Wimbledon week post workout Pimms

- Running laps around the Regents Park bandstand

- (Friendly) turf wars with the Tai Chi man at the bandstand

- Workouts in the pouring rain, blazing sun and everything in between!

- Squatting it out in front of 20 French teenagers hiding from the rain in the bandstand

- Talking of squats....the 100 squat challenge week

- Arriving thinking ‘I’m so not feeling up for this’ and leaving on an exercise high

I miss living in my leggings and trainers and hitting the park whatever the weather, but I’m so grateful for the experience and thinking back to my Buggyfit days takes me to a happy place. Thanks Becky - keep doing what you’re doing for NW mums!

BuggyFit is a great, enjoyable way to exercise outdoors. Becky is a great instructor, who puts lots of effort and thoughts into her sessions. I really like how she incorporated a sports day theme in the class; it was fun playing tug of war and egg and spoon race.... It might all sound very easy, but Becky makes sure that everyone works hard to their own ability; I can now hardly walk up the stairs after today's session.... Thank you Becky, it was a great class. Xx
