The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “When Allah created the creation, He decreed something for Himself, and a clear record is with Him confirming that, ‘Truly, My mercy prevails over My wrath.’” [Bukhari; Kitab Bad al-Wahiy]
The one whose hope in Allah’s forgiveness guides him to obedience of Allah and deters him from rebelling against Him has true hope; whereas the hope which leads a person on to idleness and being immersed in wrong actions is only stu...pidity in disguise.
Yahya ibn Muadh said, “In my opinion, the worst kind of self-delusion is for someone to sin excessively and then to hope for forgiveness without feeling any remorse; or it is to expect to draw near to Allah, the Exalted, without obeying or worshipping Him; or it is to hope for the fruits of the Garden after having only planted the seeds for the Fire; or it is to seek the abode of the obedient through committing wrong actions; or it is to expect a reward after having done nothing worthwhile; or it is to place hope in Allah, Glorious and Mighty is He, after having exceeded all the limits.”
The poet Abu’l Atahiyyah said, “Do you hope for forgiveness when you have not trodden its paths? A ship does not sail on dry land.

The prophet ﷺ is reported to have said: “The one who generously spends on his family on 'Ashura (10th of Muharram), Allah will be generous on him for the entire year.” (Al-Bayhaqi)
In this regard, Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal quotes Sufyan ibn Uyayna as saying, “I have practiced this [spending on the family] for fifty or sixty years, and have found nothing but good in it.” (Lata’if al-Ma’arif)

Virtues of Muharram
Narrated Ibn `Abbas: When Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) arrived at Medina, he found the Jews observing the fast on the day of 'Ashura' (10th of Muharram). The Prophet (ﷺ) asked them (about it) and they replied, "This is the day when Moses became victorious over Pharaoh." The Prophet (ﷺ) said (to the Muslims), "We are nearer to Moses than they, so fast on this day." [Bukhari]
... It was narrated from Ibn ‘Abbas that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “If I live until next year, I will fast the ninth day (of Muharram) too.” [Ibn Majah]
Abu Hurairah narrated that: Allah's Messenger ﷺ said: "The most virtuous fasting after the month of Ramadan is that of Allah's month of Al-Muharram. And the most virtuous Salat after the obligatory is the night prayer." [Tirmidhi]

Frequently on Fridays
The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “Among the most excellent of your days is Friday because on that day Adam was created, and on it he died, and on that day the Trumpet will be sounded, and on it shall come the Hour. So invoke blessings on me frequently on that day, for your blessings will be brought to me.” He was asked: “O Messenger of Allah, how will our blessings be conveyed to you when your body has become part of the decaying earth?” He replied: “Allah has prohibited the earth from destroying the bodies of the prophets.” [Ibn Majah; Kitab al-Janaiz]
Frequently invoke blessings on the Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam), especially on Fridays. The blessings you send on him will be conveyed to him.

Definitely Get One of Three
The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “No Muslim makes a dua to Allah, without being granted one of three things by Allah: it hastens the fulfillment of what he has asked for; or it is saved up for him until the Day of Judgement; or it prevents a similar kind of trouble from happening to him – unless it was for something bad, or something that might break family ties.” [Tirmidhi, Kitab ad-Da’awat]
Duas bring only Khair (goodnes...s). They either hurry the arrival of desired things or keep calamities away or turn into good deeds for you on the Day of Judgement.
The only thing is that your need should be pure and you do not ask for something bad or something that might cause the breaking of family ties.

Fasting on the Day of ‘Arafah
Abu Hafsah, may Allah be pleased with him, reported that the Prophet, upon whom be peace, said:
"Fasting on the Day of 'Arafah absolves the sins for two years: the previous year and the coming year, and fasting on 'Ashura, (the tenth day of Muharram) atones for the sins of previous years."
... - Reported by all except Al-Bukhari and At-Tirmidhi
In another saying the Prophet's wife Hafsah, may Allah be pleased with her, said:
"Four things the Messenger of Allâh never neglected: Observing fast on the day of 'Ashura, 'Arafat, three days every month, and offering fajr sunnah prayers early in the morning."

Polish Your Heart
The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “Temptations are presented to the heart, one by one. Any heart that accepts them will be left with a black stain, but any heart that rejects them will be left with a mark of purity, so that hearts are of two types: a dark heart that has turned away and become like an overturned vessel, and a pure heart that will never be harmed by temptation for as long as the earth and the heavens exist. The dark he...art only recognizes good and denounces evil when this suits its desires and whims.” [Muslim, Kitab al-Iman]
Acts of obedience are essential to the well being of the heart of the servant of Allah, just in the same way that food and drink are to that of the body. All wrong actions are the same as poisonous foods, and they inevitably harm the heart.
The well being of the servant of Allah’s heart, however, is far more important than that of his body, for while the well being of his body enables him to lead a life that is free from illnesses in this world, that of the heart ensures him both a fortunate life in this world and eternal bliss in the next.
Giving in to temptations and disobeying Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) poison the heart and cause its sickness and ruin. Like an overturned bowl cannot hold any water in it, an overturned heart cannot hold any Iman in it.
Refusing temptations, on the other hand, polish and illuminate the heart, filling it with Iman and making it more beloved to Allah (subhana wa ta’ala).

Good Deeds Rewarded by Intentions
The Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “Actions are only by intention, and every man shall only have what he intended. Thus, he whose migration was for Allah and His Messenger, his migration was for Allah and His Messenger, and he whose migration was to achieve some worldly benefit or to take some woman in marriage, his migration was for that for which he migrated.” [Bukhari]
This hadith means that the reward for an action depends up...on the intention behind it. This relates to obligatory, recommended, or permissible actions and not to forbidden ones. Bad intentions can spoil the fruit of good deeds but having good intentions do not make forbidden acts permissible.
Good deeds which are apparently identical may differ because the intentions behind them are different in degrees of goodness and badness from one person to another. The Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) explained this point with the example of Hijra (migration).
Some of our pious predecessors said: “Many small actions are made great by the intentions behind them. Many great actions, on the other hand, are made small because the intentions behind them are lacking.”

Wasted Mountains
The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “People will come on the Day of Judgement with good deeds like the mountains of Tihaamah and Allah will make their deeds like scattered dust.” The Companions (radi Allahu anhum) asked: “Will they not be Muslims?” He (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) replied: “Of course! They will have prayed as you pray, they will have fasted as you fast, they will have spent in charity from their excess wealth and will h...ave given their portion of the night (Tahajjud). However, when they were alone they would violate the Sanctuary of Allah (i.e. trespass into what is unlawful).” [Ibn Majah]
A hypocrite undertakes actions for the sake of people and reputation. He behaves differently when people are not around to witness his deeds. The purpose of his performing good deeds is to win acclaim from people for them. It is important for him to have his good deeds witnessed and known.
Why should Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) reward deeds that are done not for Him but for other people? Good deeds should be done only for Allah if the reward is desired from Him.
We ask Allah to purify our intentions and save us from showing off and from seeking fame. This is the most dangerous of diseases because when a servant is inflicted with it, it corrupts all his actions.
