We are both sad and immensely proud to announce that Madani Younis will step down as Artistic Director of Bush Theatre to take on the role of Creative Director of Southbank Centre. Associate Director Omar Elerian will also be stepping down.
‘My time at the Bush Theatre is undoubtedly one of my proudest achievements to date. The Bush invested in a vision that celebrated not just the best of theatre but the best of our country’s inherent culture. The result was a more reflective community of artists and a breadth of new audiences that represent the diversity of the city around us. None of what we’ve achieved would have happened without the deep, thoughtful commitment of so many.’

Inside the rehearsal room for 'An Adventure' by Vinay Patel.
According to Vinay, a play gets written three times - "when you're writing it, when it is rehearsed, and when the audience sees it". Agree?

Wonderful experience at the Bush theatre last night. Saw the powerful and electrifying Parliament Square, fantastic acting all round. Said hello to ''Pirate'', the theatre cat!

User

Went to see an Incognito matinee. Managed to nab a return. Wasn't sure what to expect from the play and afterwards I couldn't flaw the show at all. Fantastic story, script and performances.

Also a lovely venue, I will definitely go back to just hang out. Great great spot.

User

Small theatre but not cramped, comfortable seats, plenty of leg room,

Guard the Taj was absolutely brilliant

Saw 'While We're Here' on Friday May 5th in the new studio theatre. The space is small and intimate, reminding me of the original Bush Theatre, perfect for this play. A beautifully written exchange between two people who meet, apparently,by chance after many years. It is intriguing, funny and unbearably touching; though uncomfortable at times being a voyeur, ultimately you feel privileged to be let in. The performances are superb, so raw with an honesty you don't often see.Thank you Tessa Peake Jones and Andrew French. The writer has written two such distinct voices and the director must have created such a safe space to allow these wonderful performances to emerge.

This bodes well for The Bush to return to the brilliant new writing and acting of the past.

The only irritation was the extremely loud and jarring tannoy announcements, about the play in the main house, which stopped all conversation if sitting in the conservatory bit, somebody needs to listen to them and turn them done - worse than a station!

User

Misty - amazing, what a talent! Thank you

User

Love this theatre. Never seen a bad show there. Plus all the venue staff have always been really lovely. Just wish I lived closer so I could visit more often.

User

Just got done seeing Parliament Square. WOW!! Amazing performances. Some of the most courageous and thought provoking theater I've seen in awhile!! Dangerous and subversive. Loved it!! As an actor, I want to be part of this.

User

I went to watch 'Boys will be Boys' tonight and have to say it's a really well written play, excellently acted out by all cast members, and in particular by Kirsty Bushall. I hope you will be doing another play soon as I can't wait to see you perform again. The theatre itself is small and cosy, I will definitely be watching another show here soon.

User

I went for coffee with my two friend and had a lovely chat enjoyed sitting outside the member of staff that served us was very helpfull loved it and will come again and thank you to the member of staff

User

User

Fabulous space, friendly staff. Great theatres! great food and drink prices. Culture on your doorstep!

User

Exceptional staff, great space with fantastic atmosphere. We came to see Hir and it didn't disappoint. It was an uncomfortable watch but compelling viewing with an incredible cast who more than delivered. Would highly recommend both the venue and the play.

Also- the toilets were awesome ! Loved the theme !

User

Brilliant refurbishment of an iconic space that consistently shows new or under appreciated plays. Great bar too

User

Brilliant newly refurbished theatre staging an awesome new play......'Guards at the Taj'. A must watch!

User

Beautiful play "Leave Talking". Great cast, funny, poignant, sad. Can't wait to visit again.

User

Went last night watched a play by Rikki beadle-Blair , amazing talented young cast. Absolutely fantastic performance by all. Lots of laughter and also left with a lots to think about. He has got to take that play to the next level.

User

Venue is great, just tricky getting served in the busy bar. Venue holds 70?people but there were more than that in the bar area. Set was fantastic 😊

User

It's newly opened after refit but bar staff and food were disappointing. Needs to improve service rapidly. Was much better before.
