C-Tennis Description
My name is Chris and I’m currently a Sussex & Hampshire based tennis coach. C-tennis is not only here to promote myself and my services but to share some of my experiences as a coach and player through my blog and forum and to hopefully evoke others in the tennis world to engage with their own thoughts to build an active online community. I also hope this can serve as a place for aspiring young coaches to get an insight into the life of a tennis coach and what comes along with it.
To tell you more about myself I am currently an LTA level 4 coach primarily based at the Avenue Lawn Tennis Club. Before joining Advantage Tennis Academy in 2013 I had spent time in Greece running hotel coaching programmes in top Neilson resorts catering for thousands of players of all ages and abilities. It was in this period I received a Thomas Cook proud award for being ‘results orientated’ and maintaining 90% + CSQ scores.
Since arriving at the Avenue I have worked with a wide range of players from ITF veteran players, competing juniors to complete beginners. In addition i have captained the men’s first team ensuring we are regularly competing in a strong division and handing match opportunities to young talent. I am also responsible for running team practices for any team players wanting coaching. Alongside my club work, I have also spent time in public schools and state schools working with kids of all ages and abilities trying to inspire more youngsters to play the game.
My most recent experience was coaching ITF futures players at the academy of world famous coach Gunther Bresnik (Coach of Dominic Thiem ATP Top 10) who I had the pleasure to spend time with in Austria.
Finally my playing days have seen me win multiple singles and doubles club championships at different venues as well as competing in LTA sanctioned events across the country and Aegon Team Tennis representing Chichester and Avenue first teams.

When the captains of the Harbour Way Ladies 1st team approached me to help them before the start of the season, the ladies expectations were to try and stay up and look to build next summer. I can't deny that i like a challenge.
The results don't lie, a great achievement for them in gaining promotion into Division 1, I am proud of how they all became receptive to learning new things, and to be able to swiftly apply what was taught in the competitive arena in such a short space of time is impressive. Well Chichester finals day was a fun experience. A pleasant surprise to find out we would have an LTA umpire and line judge for the Men's Singles Final 😄(They did a good job besides a shocker here and there)
It wasn't my day to celebrate after losing 6-4 6-4. I take no shame in losing to one of the best active players in the county and it was going to need to be somebody playing well to stop me with my current form. I know what I need to do a little better for next time but ...overall I can be very pleased with how I served and my level of aggression. I feel if I keep on the road I'm on it's just a matter of time before I make my next step up.
After a productive 7 months of work, it's time to take a break and get some renewed energy and drive to keep dedicated.

Feeling very pleased about my tennis this weekend. Probably the most positive weekend of tennis to date and some good wins.
It's been a while since I have played four matches in two days of the back of hard trainings, especially while trying to swing at full intensity at any opportunity and unfortunately for me a shoulder ailment and muscle fatigue didn't allow me to quite get over the line in my final match.

The Avenue junior tennis player of the year has been awarded to Luke Hooper! He has showed huge improvement in the last year and has proven himself to be a reliable match player with a good head on his shoulders, regularly competing and training with players older than himself. We are particularly impressed considering he only plays a couple of hours a week!
