Cafe Des Amis

About Cafe Des Amis

Tucked away from the vibrancy of Covent Garden and London’s theatre district lies the cozy and romantic Café des Amis. We invite you to enter the warmth of our restaurant, and to experience exquisite French cuisine served with passion and finesse.

Cafe Des Amis Description

Someone once suggested that the magic of French cuisine was such that it could even produce a culinary masterpiece from cigar stumps and empty matchboxes. An exaggeration? Perhaps, but what is beyond a cuisine that has the power to enchant one’s palate through the sheer flavour of a rich and tangy porc a la normande or the fresh ocean aroma exuded by a bouillabaisse?

At Café des Amis, our ambition is to channel the brilliance of this tradition, whilst adding our own touch of London-inspired artistry. Dishes like our homemade foie gras served with toasted brioche and caramelized apples soaked in calvados or roast duck breast glazed in a prune and Armangac sauce evoke authentic French cooking, much like the fare one would find at a harbor restaurant in Honfleur or in a bistrot hidden on a quaint Parisian street.

Yet as our menu slowly immerses you into the French, you begin to see flickers of something more modern, innovative and patently London – warm goat’s cheese served with beetroot carpaccio and drizzled with a walnut dressing or venison medallions on grain mustard mash with a shallot and port jus.

Hand-in-hand with a digestif – a fragrant calvados or cognac – we recommend that you finish with what is by far Café des Amis’ most-loved dish over nearly three decades of service – la soupe au chocolat, a decadent chocolate soup served with black pepper ice cream.
