The customer service was nothing short of impeccable! The afternoon tea was wonderful but the bread on some of the sandwiches was stale this didn't retract from the lovely flavours however. Would MASSIVELY recommend!

Excellent, lovely hour and a half spent eating scrummy cakes, nattering with great company. Coffee was excellent too.

Every time I go to London, yes EVERY time,i end up in a Caffe C! If I want a little breakfast? Caffe C. If I want something yummy for lunch? Caffe C. If I need a cup of tea and a slice of something sweet? Caffe C. If I want to impress a friend? Caffe C. Dinner? Caffe C. Want some cake and/or macaroons to take home and enjoy later...? You get the picture?



Only tiniest thing I would change to make the experience absolutely perfect? Fine bone China tea cups! There is something so sophisticated about bone China, and as you have put such effort into making our experience as elegant as possible this would be my only suggestion!



Also, I'd like to take a moment to congratulate you on having such smiley, polite, friendly patient staff. We arrived with 4 kids 2 in buggies and 3 adults. The youngest was happily breastfed and we were all looked after. The kids were a tad disappointed you had no marshmallows for your concerto hot chocolate. But we were well looked after! Thank you.

Service was very bad, although a cup of coffee was £5 the waiter asked me to collect my own coffee.

But the food was duperb.

Had a group on for afternoon tea



Was sat down they couldn't find our booking the manager came over and said she was going to ring head office to confirm as "Any one could come in with a piece of paper"



Not a good start to our experience, the waitress bought tea and sandwiches and cakes didn't come back and ask if everything was ok some of the sandwiches where dry had to call the waitress to change them.



Hardly any interaction from the staff if you don't like people with group on don't sell them, wouldn't go back there.



Certainly wouldn't have paid full price for afternoon tea which was about £40.

Cute place but horrible service. I had to continuously ask for things like silverware, my cakes, and the bill. In my opinion its ok.

Chocolate gataue cake delicious and the service is excellent and the staff are friendly

The plate smelled of detergent and the food was poorly presented. Service was good, hot chocolate was OK but overall it's not that great. Don't be fooled by the nice stock photos outside and on the website: that's not how it's served! False advertising!

The bacon was over cooked the mushrooms were deep fried so when I bite one got a month full off oil sorry won't be going back at that price you expect better

Sandwiches dry & first waiter that sat us down didn't smile or seem friendly treated my dad to afternoon tea it could have been better bit disappointed

So this evening I ordered the 2 course for £11.95, my friend 3 courses for £13.95. My starter of calamari and prawns were overcooked and rubbery. I barely touched it but didn't complain.



My friend's starter was great. Main meals were fine. However, we were both full after our mains. My friend asked to cancel dessert as soon as our plates were cleared (dessert for him was a slice of gateau).



Now, you would expect the response to be 'of course no problem'. Instead we got bee stung pout from waitress followed by 'I need to check with manager'. We were like - seriously?!



She leaves to have a 5 mins discussion with him. Manager comes over and my friend says again - he's totally full and wants to cancel the dessert.



The response: "oh sorry can't cancel dessert - it throws off our cook - it's already been allocated and accounted for in the kitchen and gone through our till - you want a take away bag?" After arguing with the manager for a few minutes we got the bill.



You guys need to learn what customer service is. You actually spoiled our dining experience over nothing! Your reason for not allowing us to cancel your £2 dessert was ridiculous. If it had been heated or cooked from scratch I would totally understand. But it wasn't.



We were actually going to stay for a cocktail and coffee but immediately left. Sort your attitude out.



We won't be coming back. And I'll be telling everyone I know about gateaugate.

I thought the decor was Fabulous the lovely cakes and menu.What let it down was the lack of service.There was plenty of staff all doing other jobs, it took over 20 minutes after we ordered it to get a coffee by this time and asking 2 members of staff we had eaten our cakes long before the beverages arrived.
