After almost 14 years at the Holiday Inn Bloomsbury my time at the hotel will come to an end on the 21st of July 2017.
During that time I made some good friends and met some great people. We had some fabulous events, themed buffets, Champions League finals, several European and World cups, with 2014 being the absolute highlights. To celebrate my departure in style I would like to invite you all to have a couple of drinks with me in Callaghans. In old tradition we will have a “£10 All you can eat German Buffet”. I hope to see as many as possible of you on the 21st!

On the buffet: pork schnitzel, turkey schnitzel in sesame, all that with creamy mushroom sauce, "Zigeuner sauce" and vegetarian schnitzel with creamy curry sauce. To go with that are: sauteed potatoes, green beans, potato salad and mixed salad. Followed by something sweet! Start is at 6.30pm. If you decide to go for the buffet, there will be a discount... of 20% for the drinks.

On Thursday the 4th February, we will have a „£10 All you can eat Weiberfastnacht buffet“ in Callaghans.
A little back ground on the celebration ( source: Wikipedia) Fat Thursday (German Fetter Donnerstag, Schmotziger Donnerstag, in areas where carnival is celebrated Weiberfastnacht;) is a traditional Catholic Christian feast marking the last Thursday before Lent and is associated with the celebration of Carnival. Because Lent is a time of fasting, the next opportunity to fea...st would not be until Easter. Traditionally it is a day dedicated to eating, when people meet in their homes or cafés with their friends and relatives and eat large quantities of sweets, cakes and other meals usually not eaten during Lent. In many towns across the state of North Rhine Westphalia, a ritual "takeover" of the town halls by local women has become tradition. Among other established customs, on that day women cut off the ties of men, which are seen as a symbol of men’s status
On the buffet: Pasta salad Potato salad Herrings salad Meat balls Goulash Braised leg of turkey Smoked pork loin and Sauerkraut Sea trout on cucumber and dill Potato pancakes Crème cheese puffs Buffet opens at 6.30pm

I visited here last week (5-7th) and was staying nearby in the Royal National. We were looking for somewhere different to drink and last time I was over (the previous year) I happened upon this little beauty. The only thing was last year, for some reason the pub shut at 6pm.

We visited this year and we weren't disappointed. The pub was lively (a footie match was on).

The bar staff were very friendly and service was fast. The atmosphere was electric and while we didn't eat there, as we had eaten before we came out (regretting it now) the food they served late into the night looked and smelt fantastic.

I am travelling back over in November and will definitely be frequenting again.

User

the staf are hard working and very friendly nothing is too much trouble for them

you will always get a smile and a warm welcome. wether its for a quiet drink and

a quick snack or to watch sports on the 3 tv"s in the bar. give them a visit

User

Your portions of food for the game are completely overpriced! £7 for a Schnitzel the size of my tiny palm and 8 pieces of potato is just outrageous.

User

Got food order wrong charged for stuff we never got and food tasted awful. Wouldn't bother wasting your money on food here
