About Campaign For National Parks

The only national charity dedicated to protecting and improving the National Parks of England and Wales.

Campaign For National Parks Description

Campaign for National Parks is here to protect, stand up for and expand the National Parks family.

We are the only national charity dedicated to campaigning to protect and promote all of the National Parks of England and Wales.

We work with a wide variety of people and organisations, representing shared concerns, views and voices. We come together to address issues affecting National Parks and take action to keep these beautiful places safe.

It’s our belief that the Parks of England and Wales are national treasures that are worth fighting for. We need your help to take our messages to decision makers and to make our voice heard in the corridors of power.

Last year two breeding female hen harriers attempted to nest in the Yorkshire Dales but failed due to natural causes, and this year the Park had one successful nest – the first since 2007.
Ian Courts, wildlife officer at Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority, tells us about their determination that the illegal persecution of raptors in the Dales should end so that iconic species such as the peregrine falcon and hen harrier can return to the uplands.

Fantastic to see our call for big and ambitious changes to wildlife conservation in the National Parks in this month's edition of New Nature
Changing our approach to wildlife conservation is a matter of urgency and in our opinion National Parks should be leading the way as exemplars to the wider country!

Ospreys were functionally extinct in Britain up until the 1950's. In 2009 the first osprey chicks in 200 years were born in Northumberland.
Katy Barke of Northumberland Wildlife Trust tells us more about this incredible story of survival in the Kielder forest on the edge of Northumberland National Park as part of our #summerofbeauty series.

One of the many difficulties for creating change in National Parks is the many different land owners. But in the latest #summerofbeauty blog Parc Cenedlaethol Eryri - Snowdonia National Park's Gethin Davies shows this needn't be a barrier.
By working with 15 different land owners he is improving the watery habitats of the amazing Afon Eden in Snowdonia. This benefits the rare freshwater mussels, salmon, otters and other wildlife!

Having given evidence to the committee we are deeply disappointed with the option not to rule out building facilities for nuclear waste in National Parks.
What's more using the York mine as a positive example is astonishing. We are talking about developments that will never leave the Parks the same again!
