A huge hip hip hooray for Clacton - Relay For Life, who’ve broken their fundraising record yet again! The Relay began in 2010, when they raised £24,500, and each year they’ve gone from strength to strength - hitting a high this year of almost £132,000! Incredibly, this figure is going to increase further as they still have events and fundraising before their wrap party in September. A huge CONGRATULATIONS and thank you to all 801 Relayers, 109 survivors and the Clacton Relay committee! 👏🎉

This is Emily, one of our newest and youngest Relayers, from Relay For Life Ascot. Since signing up to Team Hurry a few weeks ago, her team has raised over £1k, and Emily has personally raised over £150 by collecting ‘coins for cancer’. Please give a warm welcome to one of newest Relays – Relay For Life Rudgwick. Their first Relay takes place this weekend and they’ve already raised an impressive £33,600! Event Chair, Deborah, said, “Our Relay is almost here. We are so very excited and absolutely delighted that we have already exceeded our goal of raising £30,000 – the total seems to be rising by the hour! And it’s all down to so many people giving their time, creativity and resources for free. “I’m taking part in my ninth Clacton - Relay For Life and I can’t wait. It’s a very poignant time for me, as towards the end of 2009 I was asked to be part of the organising committee and that was the year my youngest daughter Ruby was born. I knew I had to get involved in this unique community event as I wanted to say thank you to Cancer Research UK for helping develop the treatment that helped save my life. I wouldn’t be here today without them. So not only did they help sa...ve my life, they also helped create another life in Ruby. I’m so lucky that my family support the Clacton Relay and myself. Ruby’s a particularly keen fundraiser and she’s definitely a future team captain in the making. I’m lucky that on Father’s Day I’ll get to spend quality time with my three children and that’s another reason why I Relay. To ensure that all dads who hear the words “You’ve got cancer” will also hear the words, “But you’re going to be fine” - and they’ll get to make special memories with their children for many years to come.” Happy Father’s Day to all the dads and grandads that make up our Relay family ❤️💕

Sharon, Local Fundraising Manager for Legenderry, pictured here with IoF Chair, Peter Lewis, said, “I’m delighted to accept this award for Relay For Life Legenderry. The committee is made up of the hardest working volunteers on the planet, and all credit for this award belongs to them.” We’d like to say a massive thank you to the committee, teams and survivors who have made this Relay such a success. Very honoured to be asked to take part as a survivor. The thing about surviving cancer is that not only does it change you fundamentally, it also makes you aware of the fragility and brevity of life and how precious each day is. I joined a running club last year, Reach running club in Derry has been a vital part of my recovery and a fantastic boost to my fitness and well-being. Looking forward to taking part.

This will be my first time taking part and I am so excited, I have a close friend as a survivor and also lost my dear aunt many years now to cancer. I am so excited and looking forward to to the day after listening to the organiser and how passionate she speaks about the event.

This is my 5th relay for life as a surviour we part of a team this year pick & mix my son iain and husband have surported me all the way trought my cancer i beat it will be five year s come oct i will keep fighting

They do a wonderful job and its up to everyone of us to do as much as we can and to raise as much money for this cause as possible.

The power and the positivity that you feel as you walk into the event is overwhelming, uplifting and invigorating all at once. I will walk the whole course myself this year and we will raise enough money to reach our goal. I can't wait to see everyone again. Here's to the Royal Relay for Life Ascot 2017
