Smashing time yesterday. Our grandson was 7

Years old and had a swimming party at Cascades. Louisa and Joe, helpers were great, organising the swimming party and the food.

User

It's my second home too, hope you don't get fed up with me.

User

It's a nice Sports Centre they just having a new gym putting my son does karate and we're waiting for the boxing gym to be open which he attends good swimming pool everything very friendly nice place

User

I feel the need to make a big shout out to a fabtastic swimming teacher who has a special way with children who need a little bit extra help. Firm when she needs to be, cutting some slack when needed but overall you can tell she loves the kids. Elka is her name and she has taught my little girl since she was about 6 months old working with her at the right speed for Ava rather then what the book of rules says a child should be doing by a certain age. Ava is now four year and four months old and made me stand up and clap her amazing achievement today as she swam by herself unaided. Thank you so much Elka for your special kinda of teaching and well done to my little girl I’m so proud of you xxxxx

Cascades is a very family friendly place, with waves and flumes, the pool is always warm so good for young children, the staff are all very friendly,

User

Absolutely love that Belinda is back covering classes, my legs however do not agree today lol

User

Very misleading on their membership prices told I would save two months payment by paying for year up front only works out at not even one month

User

They offer a lot varieties of membership s to suit everyone s needs.Staff is lovely especially instructors on some of classes I attended

User

Nice to see those bone crushing leg machines go at last...one niggle is the piped Kiss FM, too loud when most people have their own motivational sounds. Turn it down, better still off.

User

Need to be cleaner in the changing rooms and toilets

User

Council place really expense most b more cheap

User

Really wasn't impressed today when taking my 2 children as a treat swimming we arrived just before 5 paid 15 point to get in and by the time we got changed for in the swimming pool just after 5...then at 5 to 6 my children went to get another float and was told no and when I asked the life guard he said unless we were there for the disabled swim we had to get out...I was not told about this at the desk as would of thought twice about paying that amount of money for under an hour in the swimming pool...to add to this awell the flumes were closed and we were not made aware of this either..when going back to the changing rooms that were filthy...so overall not happy today and neither were my kids

Just been evacuated from a Cygnets where my 7 year old was having a swimming lesson. I'M DISGUSTED AT THE HEALTH AND SAFETY PRECEDURES and limited light upon the power cut tonight.

The swimming instructors quickly got the children out of the pool and stood against the wall using their ipads as light. I was happy with that. Whilst the patents in the viewing area upstairs were ushered out by a member of staff in extremely poor lighting down the stairwell using a little torch. The light on the wall was dull and if a fire was present would not have been seen through smoke. We were all told to wait in at the emergency exit. When questioned 'what's happening with our children at the pool side' her reply was 'Oh yeah, it's swimming lessons tonight isn't it'. The coridoor leading from the stairwell to reception was pitch black. People were using their phones as porches. My husband went to get my son via the pitch black changing room using his phone again as a torch. I'm 8 months pregnant and felt extremely unsafe. The lack of staff with inadequate sized torches and the lack of sufficient emergency lighting was despicable tonight. I am fuming at how you are allowed to open with such awful health and safety procedures in place.

My husband then had to get my son dried and dressed as best he could before meeting me in the foyer where the lighting was better.

I will be taking this matter further as I feel that if this had been a fire, there would have been serious injuries and casualties.

Have played badminton here plenty of times and most times have paid the standard £10.20. Last few times we got charged for all 3 people at £1.90 each making it a nigh on pricey £16! The staff didn't seem to understand that I can't play by myself, not their fault to be fair silly rule set by the people that are meant to encourage everyone to stay healthy if you can afford it! Hopefully they'll change the rule so when you book a court it means you can play with up to four people no extra charge! Wont come back till they do, Here's hoping...

User

Disappointed to hear that Claire Dumpleton is no longer doing the boot camp & spin classes on satdays she's an excellent instructor & gets the best out of me & others training........Get her back please xx

User

Cygnets health suite needs updating and the showers are terrible. Cold water and a dribble comes out was not impressed.

User

Thanks Cygnets gym, reduced service since fire, never been an hourly abs class since I joined as advertised and now you have refused me entry because I forgot my pass. I had photo id with me and the manager claimed she could not check my membership was current without my pass. What a load of rubbish! They have the computer in front of them. Appalling Service!

User

Terrible facilities. The acorn club took all of the female changing so no where to change 2 adults and 4 children. I understand that it's a safe guarding issue for the club but what about the safe guarding of the visitors. Do not run clubs if you cannot accommodate jo public.

User

Since my last review, Cascades has still not fixed the air con. But there are developments.

Loo roll is now available on top of the water machines to wipe down equipment :-)

So one of the hottest days of the year (only 24degrees), the air conditioning is not working and the upstairs gym at Cascades smells of stale socks.

The jacuzzi is out of service and the "spa" is just a place to pick up infections.

As for the changing rooms - well you need to see for yourself to believe how disgusting they are.

Roll on Cascades - there is a reason this place is offering £1 memberships!

User

Not impressed. Have filled in an online enquiry form and left two messages at Cygnet enquiring about swimming lessons for my 3yr old. 9 days later I recieve an long email telling me all about membership prices etc but doesn't actually answer my intial enquiry which I asked on the online form. Very frustrated!

User

Just taken my sons to cygnets, first time in years we have been, went as a family of 4 for something fun on last day of hols. Not only was it overpriced for hour we was in there half the pool was shut off for lane swimmers, half the lane swimmers were using the bit not sealed off and getting hump with my 7yo splashing!!!

The changing facilities weren't cleaned to the standard I'd expect and the baby facilities when not being used by one person getting themselves changed were that gross I got my 6 month old son ready out on the bench and even that was covered in hair and I had to wipe down first!

All in all we made it fun for the kids but won't be returning.

User

I'm so disappointed with how much cascades cost my children love swimming but for us to visit costs £24.50 seen as this country is trying to prevent childhood obesity I think swimming is far to expensive!!!!

User

I used the Health suite at both centres, the prices are different, often not working, used steam room and found more steam in the Ice Bar. Got a refund on two occasions now won't return and go to Strood....

User

For the second time in as many weeks, my daughters preschool swimming lesson was cut short, on advice of our tutor, because the FUN!!! pool is so flipping cold...where's the FUN in small children learning to swim in Arctic conditions. I am starting to resent paying premium prices for a sub standard service! The changing rooms are cold and draughty, not to mention filthy dirty, you need tetanus jabs before even attempting to use the showers...there are unnamed life forms growing in there, hair-dryers don't work, nappy bins are overflowing...the list goes on!!! Surely as we live on an island learning to swim has to be a more valuable life skill than being able to do 20 bench presses. Come on GCLL, get your act together...start spending some of your budget improving your swimming facilities rather than refurbishing squash courts or 'improving' your gym/health suite!

User

Can't believe that the center charges £1.90 just to go in and watch my son have a swim....I could understand a fair charge - 50p or something, but £1.90 is just plain greedy.

User

Based on cleanliness its disgusting , soon as you walk in the pool changing rooms it smells of urine , the baby changer shelves smell so bad that anything you place on there then smells ( last month i proved that to reception) .. today was no different ..

The pool white tile edging is thick with scum , yes ive scratched * FILTH & DIRTY * into it ( came out and throughly cleaned my nails ) lets see if its there when i go back ... ( as a child i know staff cleaned it weekly but i guess things have changed since the 80's !!! )

Walls , ceiling tiles all need a good paint or replacement * lots of tiles actually missing ( it does make a difference to the feel of the place and value of membership fees paid or £5.75 daily swim charge )

Oh and the speedo clock is missing from one end so if your a swimmer that times yourself ( yes i do ) then i suggest back stroke from the shallow end ( sarcasm) ..

All in all the best part of the experience here is the lovely staff in the reception who are friendy and helpful x
