Wow! Just come back from the most wonderfully spa stay I have had, EVER! The surroundings, the building itself, and the facilities where second to none. All the staff I came across during my stay couldn't do enough for you. The meals were so nutritional and beautifully presented, simply wonderful. (Thank you Daniel for your polite and attentive service during our dinner). The treatments were great, just generally a lovely friendly atmosphere. Your staff were all so nice, it makes such a welcome change. The only negative, which was my own doing, was not booking another night. (I will be stopping at least two nights next time I come).

Thank you Chamneys for one of best weekends I've had in years. And as Arnie says, I'll be back!¤śŖ

What a fabulous place to chill and properly unwind. The food is amazing too, and the staff canŌĆÖt do enough for you. IŌĆÖll be back.

User

Unlike everyone else here, I havenŌĆÖt even had my spa day yet.

I turned on the doorstep this morning but unfortunately am not well. I had read online that they charge for cancellations within 24 hours of the booking but the ladies at reception instantly took pity on me, allowing me to rebook for two weeks time. They were so so sincere in offering their condolences and even suggested I stay for a cup of tea or coffee before I head home to my sickbed.

Excellent customer service, genuine staff. I look forward to seeing you in a fortnight.

User

Lovely relaxing place, this is my third visit and I just love it here, staff are friendly and helpful and the treatments are always very good. IŌĆÖll be back again soon ¤śā

I went on a diabetic type 2 course which was extremely informative led by Sandra my room was excellent with lovely facilities overlooking the grounds on the back ground floor room with beautiful views. The treatments we excellent by well trained staff n treated me well being that I'm a full time carer. Food is what you expect from a health resort n well catered for my diabetic needs as I'm on a diet 8 week blood sugar diet the only problem was checking in or out with loads of others standing around not enough seats in reception n also surprised no meet n greet as u enter the building on ur arrival apart from that everything was top notch n will go again for another diabetic course n health evaluation.

Had a lovely day with a beautiful bump massage, lunch and chilled afternoon in the garden before a swim to cool off.

From the majestic entrance with its gated winding drive leading to the front of house with a monumental fountain to the very last minute detail to the mini footballs relating to the World Cup, present in the artistic flower displays, it was divine.

The staff were accommodating to any need, the hydro spa facilities were excellent, relaxation room was exactly that. My massage treatment was superbly carried out by a most attentive therapist.

Food choices were abundant and as fresh and colourful, enticing to the eye as could be.

The gardens surrounding the spa were well kept complimenting the classic stroke slick interior.

5 star all the way for me ’┐Į’┐Į’┐Į’┐Į’┐Į

A fabulous spa , probably the best one I have been to , the staff were fantastic, the facilities were amazing and the food was pretty good too !!!!!

I will definitely be returning, this was a fabulous treat for my big birthday from my daughter .

Out of all the champneys restores, this is the best they have to offer. My husband and I stayed over night in a beautiful suit over looking the back of all house grounds. I had been kindly booked in for baby spa treatments. The therapist were all very kind and friendly, with good treatment knowledge. The food is what I expected from a health spa, healthy (no fats and sugary drinks). The overall building is ok, could do with a little TLC. The staff were all friendly and polite and at this time of year, a little over run with people to serve. The reception area upon arrival should have more seating and a meet and greet, best system. ItŌĆÖs a typical old school hotel. We had fun none the less.

User

Just back from an overnight with stay with my husband. It was a lovely two day child free break. IŌĆÖd not pay full price but with the 70% off we get itŌĆÖs more than worth it. Food was lovely. WasnŌĆÖt expecting to have to pay so many upgrades on food though! Staff were lovely except a few grumpy ones in the restaurant. Room comfortable and clean. The building is old and needs TLC but made no difference to our stay. Unless you like healthy food your wonŌĆÖt enjoy it. You need to be open to trying new dishes! IŌĆÖd definetly go back, but only as I get a discount!

I enjoyed our spa retreat to Champneys, however it really didn't live up to its expectations.

Champneys is such a big name in the spa industry... we was expecting so much more for the amount of money spent on a 1 night retreat.

We loved every minute of it, the facilities and the food.... (we enjoy healthy food) if your not in to posh/healthy food then Ild suggest bring snacks lol. We also bought a couple of bottles of wine with us for the room, as everything additional was very expensive.

We was given room 69... the receptionist found this extremely hilarious and over the top laughed every time she said 69. We then checked back out with her and again she laughed the whole time and made sexual comments regarding our stay in room 69... it didn't matter to us, she was quite funny... but it got quite boring after the tenth time of laughing.

The room was extremely basic, more like a travel lodge room... the amount you pay - you'd expect more. Bathroom was quite dated.

User

Great place to relax and enjoy the spa and facilities. Food is excellent. It just needs a bar . Only wine and prosecco is available throughout the resort.

I get that theyŌĆÖre promoting healthy living and unhindered use of the spa and the consideration of all the guests but champneys definitely drop the ball with the limited alcohol policy. A nightcap would be nice to finish the day .

User

Great but short break, IŌĆÖll be back for much longer next time. ’┐Į Superior room design layout was a little noisy (I could hear next doors loud TV through my bed headboard). And could do with an updated bathroom.

Audrey in the shop was AMAZING & very knowledgeable. Food was great, nutritious & healthy. Great Yoga class with yogi Alison. Fab & fun Nordic walk. Not the best selection of nail colours for the pedicure, there were gaps in the shelves.

It was my birthday & the restaurant team gave me a surprise birthday pudding! Restaurant interior design was cool. Felt very welcomed by Julie on reception. All in all a very relaxing few days. In beautiful surroundings.

ŌĆ£It was OKŌĆØ is the right way to describe our visit today. We were left feeling underwhelmed and a little disappointed. We had fairly high expectations from such a well known name but found it didnŌĆÖt really deliver and have no need to return!

Facilities/maintenance - the facilities felt fairly basic and we found ourselves being done within a couple of hours. The only plus we found was the relaxation zone with the hot tub and water beds but otherwise, very standard. The pool had a scum line on the water level on the railings in and out, the waterfall feature had white scale all around the top, looking unsightly and there was cement grit under foot in one of the corners. There were 18/32 lights out (hubby is in maintenance and has been in pool/leisure industry so this was all noticed!) the handle to the sauna was hanging off and a bolt on a hinge in the ladies showers was hanging loose. All basic maintenance tasks that a superior establishment should easily have in check.

The food - pretty naff. We didnŌĆÖt order anything off menu so this only relates to the buffet for breakfast and lunch but we were less than impressed. I eat gluten free and found little to no choice over the two meal times and was desperate to leave at the end of the day as I was ravenous!! The soya milk had a film to it so god knows how long that had been left out! Tea was see through and had no taste to it.

Treatments - full body lava shell.... IŌĆÖve had better, but it wasnŌĆÖt terrible. Not so much her technique but have experienced better tricks than she worked (leaving the lava shells on the body to transition smoothly between strokes) and the oil was really just any oil, not any kind of relaxing/aromatherapy smell. Husband had a 25 minutes Champneys massage and again, heŌĆÖs experienced better, technique could have been better.

Staff - majority of staff would have rather been anywhere else, than on site today! Pretty much everyone we encountered was miserable and lacked any basic customer service skills. No service with a smile and no greetings in or out of the cafe, too busy having their own conversation to notice! To their credit, on check out they ask how we found the visit, I said disappointing and was immediately offered the opportunity to speak to the duty manager. He listened but only noted a couple of the points so not entirely sure it was all taken on board. Either way, the additional smoothies and gluten free cake weŌĆÖd purchased (to try and fill me up!) was taken care of for us as an apology.

So yes, all in all, an underwhelming day and would like to think theyŌĆÖll improve to meet the standard, their name represents.

User

I went at 33 weeks pregnant with my mum. We had a lovely time with a great % off and everything was fab with staff mainly being great (although the number of random men in suits and corporate tours were a little disconcerting when youŌĆÖre wandering around in your dressing gown!) and lovely facilities-great to finally have a lie down relaxing area.

However the food terrible hence the rating. While I understand itŌĆÖs a health spa, not everyone is going there to lose weight. The lunches gave us both awful wind (funnier than it sounds but still....not great) and the supper was incredibly tasteless. I never saw a duck leg treated with so little love! DonŌĆÖt get me started on desert. Lunch was a repeat of the day before and just boring. Yes, they want you to be healthy but that doesnŌĆÖt mean faddy air whipped ŌĆśbutterŌĆÖ, bread that is harder than cannon balls and dried up fish/chicken chicken and more chicken. The vegan chocolate mousse will haunt my wildest nightmares for a good long while. We ate better at the Sanctuary by far.

So yes...go and enjoy, take a secret stash of chocolate and prepare yourself for lots of unsalted and repetitive worthy food!!!

User

Great couple days time spent with my lovely friend. Have been a few times to Tring and noticed a big drop in service standards this time.

Terrible check in experience, person checking us in hardly made eye contact, spoke to another guest throughout our check in, no welcome drink. We felt like an inconvenience.

In the restaurant they ran out of clean crockery and glasses and hot food wasn't replenished quickly.

Asked for spare robes in room, waited 3 hours for them to arrive. Felt they were short of staff everywhere.

However, must say thank you to Kriztina in the shop. Lovely friendly non pushy service as usual.

User

Been several times not the best spa but local for us u dear an hour, not all treatment rooms are air conditioned which is not only uncomfortable for clients but the staff who work in them .....Julie on reception is great ...when IŌĆÖve stayed always had the large suite which is great overlooking the beautiful garden .....itŌĆÖs all in need of a coat of paint ...however still good

User

Very overrated

I was treated to treatments and one being my first meant to be for a foot and head massage which was a full body massage.

When speaking to reception was told you are meant to ask for what you would like ( isnŌĆÖt that the point of booking that treatment it is what it is) and that my second massage at 4pm to request just for foot and head.

The lady arrived to get me at 4.05 by the time we went upstairs and my treatment finished this was 4.18pm so you pay for a 25min massage but donŌĆÖt actually get 25min

WouldnŌĆÖt recommend only best but was the colonic

I live in Australia and brought a surprise Mother and Daughter Day for my mother and sister, who both have had a very difficult time recently. I have tried several times to get someone from Champneys to answer my message submitted on their website and also a separate email......both messages have gone unanswered sent nearly 2 weeks ago.....my mother did NOT receive her complimentary gift on departure as advertised. Please can someone from Champneys answer my message's and remedy the oversight....Thank You
