What a wonderful experience. Looked after perfectly from start to finish - delicious cocktails, excellent service and impeccable food. Can’t recommend highly enough!

We managed to get there in the snow last night and the greeting couldn't have been warmer. My husband and I had a fabulous evening celebratino our anniversary. The atmosphere, service and food were all fantastic, canot not wait to come back again.

We ate here last night. I also proposed to my now fiancée, the service was impeccable, food magnificent and the staff where so great in helping our night be amazing. Thank you.

Twice in a few weeks here as first lunch on a Sunday was so good. Had Friday night dinner to celebrate my birthday. Food delicious and the service attentive without being intrusive. The best thing for me is the lovely selection of gluten free food. Absolutely love this restaurant 💖

This is my favourite restaurant for special celebrations.We celebrated our wedding anniversary there yesterday.

The starter with belly pork and quail scotch eggs was absolutely delicious. I had the duck main course and my husband had the chicken, both were excellent.For dessert I had the carrot cake,the combination of flavours was superb.

The food is always wonderful at Chapter 1. Looking forward to celebrating there again soon.

Their place is pure bliss, I had a cookery course with head chef Mr Mcleish and never felt nervous with his knowledge, and the food is off the scale I went to a restaurant that held 2 stars and wasn’t a patch on chapter one, the service right through to you walking in and out of the door was fantastic, the josper steak is pure indulgence and I say everyone needs to visit chapter one.

The most delicious steak 🥩 champ and vegetables. I have ever had. Worth every penny. Amazingly talented chef, food so flavoursome andelted in the mouth. Wonderful service, looked after so well. Will be back.

My new favourite restaurant in this country. Thank you for a superb lunch.

Never Disappoints



We have visited this wonderful restaurant a number of times and mostly for special occasions. The food is consistently top class with a menu that makes it hard to make a choice ! Yesterday didn’t fail to impress again from the very pleasant and relaxed staff, great atmosphere and as before fantastic food. Thanks for making it a marvellous afternoon and will throughly recommend as usual

My favourite visit yet. Food was superb, service outstanding, what a joy the chap in charge was - even singing happy birthday to Mum whilst delivering a beautiful cupcake! Top birthday lunch, thank you C1.



I should mention that I don’t like roast beef, but it was the only “roast” they had on so I ordered it - amazing �

My family and I have been dining at Chapter one for many years. Yesterday I went with my mum and sister great lunch. Fab food and service. Big thanks to the Chef and all that worked hard to provide a fab experience �

My Mum and Step dad recommended this place as one of their favourite restaurants so we went for our first Anniversary on Saturday and absolutely loved it. Excellent, charming service and delicious food. Highly recommend and hopefully we will be back for our Libran birthdays in September/October. :-)

Just come home from a meal and can’t say enough about them. Firstly it was my husbands birthday and they had a lovely cake as a surprise for him and secondly as a person who is intolerant to all gluten, dairy and can’t digest sugar easily they went out of their way to accommodate me. Nothing was too much trouble and I didn’t feel like I was an ‘issue’ to them. A fab meal made even more perfect due to the staff and their approach, thank you.

I treated my husband to lunch for his birthday last week. Such wonderful food and excellent service too. We'd certainly highly recommend Chapter One and we're looking forward to our next visit!

Go to Chapter One quite a lot and it never disappoints. It’s a lovely restaurant and I enjoyed the food. Went there for my birthday yesterday and had a great selection of courses from the a la carte menu. Very yummy and will return! The birthday cupcake was delicious too thank you very much!

From the moment you walk in to when you leave you are treated with such a high level of service and attention it is outstanding. The food and wine on gourmet night is sublime. The attention to detail is of such a high standard, the talks / information are excellent. Highly recommended to all.

Excellent food, great selection of wines and outstanding service. It was a nice surprise to find this place in Waitrose good food guide. Will return again soon!

A lovely evening for my parents 59th Wedding Anniversary. We had pre dinner drinks at the bar and a lovely dinner. The staff were helpful and attentive. Highly recommended.
