Thank you to everyone who came and supported the summer fair yesterday- it was a great success ☀️ Our pupils enjoyed the fun and games , won prizes and got to meet Chester Cherry, our school mascot! Chester was designed by and named in a vote by Cherry Lane pupils. He’ll be attending all school and sporting events, although I’m not sure he’ll be allowed to play the steel pans again 🐻🍒

The year 6 children have been practising all year and most of them can now answer a times table question in less than one second! Can you? Please encourage your child to log in to TTRockstars and play as much as possible at home. TTRockstars really has improved their timetable speed, which helps in so many areas of maths. As of next year all year 4 pupils will be tested on their times tables.

Today we started Healthy Eating week with a Ready Steady Cook assembly. We had pupils help to chop, mix and prepare some tasty dishes. The judges and children enjoyed trying the freshly made omelette, stir fry and houmous 🍽

Our year 4 pupils enjoyed their walk around the local area last week. As part of their history topic they went in search of some Victorian buildings. They spotted some buildings that were nearly 200 years old and identified their features.

Yesterday evening saw a fantastic performance by the Cherry Lane football team, beating West Drayton in quarter final 3-2. An excellent game from two very good sides. Well done Cherries and good luck in the semi final! 🍒⚽️🍒⚽️🍒⚽️

Thank you to our pupils for the wonderful art exhibition last week. It was all inspired by the painting ‘Men of the Docks’ by the artist George Bellows 🎨

With only a month to go before the start of the SATs testing period in schools we would like to share this information leaflet provided by the Standards and Testing Agency. https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/ …/Information_for_…

There were wonderful Easter bonnets on display this week. Our early years pupils enjoyed showing them off in their parades.

Thank you all so much for your fantastic donations today! We have had so many that we will be selling the ones that we have left in the playground after school!
Edit: We still had some left over after that, so they will be on sale from 1:45 tomorrow in the playground.

🍒CAKE SALE🍒
Tomorrow there will be a cake sale held in school. We ask that children bring in donations in the morning. Year 6 children will then bring the cakes around to other classes in the afternoon. They will be 50p for a large cake, or 2 small cakes.
The class which donates the most cakes will win extra playtime!

🍒 Sports update!
Last Monday we took a boys netball team to Ryefield to compete in the borough tournament. They rounded off a fantastic year of netball for the Cherries, backing up the bronze and silver with another bronze. Well done boys.
Then a late night on Wednesday for a Cherry swimming team. Six children represented the school across a variety of events with a bronze and a silver medal being brought back from the individual events.
... Yesterday, our football team travelled to Whitehall and thanks to goals from Sherwin and Harry walked away 2-0 winners.
Well done to all involved; once again our children showed great sportsmanship and represented our school fantastically.

Another early Saturday morning start for the Cherries. This week we took two teams to the mixed netball tournament at Ryefield School.
The 'B' team played tremendously well to qualify from their group and were the only 'B' team to reach the quarter finals!
The 'A' team did incredibly well! After losing their first game they bounced back to qualify from their group, before showing their true class in the quarter finals and semi finals, reaching the final against Hermitage.
... After a closely fought contest, which finished 2-2 after normal time, they were unlucky to lose 3-2.
Once again, all the children that represented the 🍒 showed fantastic sportsmanship and represented our school wonderfully. Well done all!

More fantastic individual achievements from our super Cherries!
On Saturday 2nd Feb Grace and her 2 partners from Heathrow Gymnastics club competed at the King Edmunds acrobatics competition in Bristol. It was an international competition with 9 other countries competing at the event such as France Belgium, Germany, and Portugal to mention a few. Grace and her trio competed at youth level against 30 other groups in her category. I am extremely proud to tell you that they came joint 1st in their category receiving Gold Medals and a Trophy. What makes this more impressive is that the trio had only had 4 weeks to practice their routines together as a trio!
