It's not long now until our nurse Becky heads out to India on Mission Rabies and is looking for donations for this very worthy cause.
In countries where Rabies is endemic stray dogs and other animals ore treated with suspicion and sometimes are rounded up to be euthanised. Humans and animals are often in conflict as people are worried about the threat of catching this deadly disease.
Rabies is preventable and Mission Rabies is on it! Organising teams of volunteers to vaccin...ate street dogs and pet dogs, and improving and saving lives of people (children are the most at risk of Rabies as they interact with dogs) and the dogs themselves.
All donations are gratefully received and will help fund the Mission to eradicate Rabies.

Jack came in to us 6 years ago as an emergency as he had suffered a spinal injury. Mike operated on Jack's spine and he had a long road to recovery, but he made it. Jack is a very brave, plucky dog and he gave us this lovely card and cake to celebrate 6 years of good health, thank you Jack and his mummy!

This is lovely Otis, he came in to see Cam at the Elworth practice. Otis was being assessed to see if he could be a Pets as Therapy Dog,and of course he passes all the criteria with flying colours. Otis's brother Franklin is also hoping to be a PAT dog, but he is a little too young at the moment.

Our nurse Becky has volunteered to help Mission Rabies in India.
Mission Rabies is a charity founded in 2013 and 5 years on they are working in 6 different countries, with volunteers from across the world, getting to the heart of rabies-stricken countries and combating this disease with the combination of vaccination, education, technology, research and lots of hard work.
Rabies is 100% preventable. Mission Rabies is working to prevent needless deaths from this devastating disease and our Becky is going to be a part of it.

Alfie Bunny says, that even though he knows its rude to speak with one’s mouth full but he would like to talk about diet.
In the wild rabbits feed on high levels of fibrous grasses. Their digestive systems are designed to be kept in constant motion to get the most out of this diet. It’s important that you feed your rabbits a balanced diet that gives them the nutritional and emotional benefits they need to live a happy and healthy life.
High-quality, dust extracted feeding ha...y should make up 85-90% of your rabbits’ diet. You should make sure it is freely available and replaced with fresh hay every day. Commercial nuggets should be fed as a supplement to feeding hay or grass to ensure your rabbits get all the minerals they need. You should look for nugget products appropriate to your rabbits’ life stage. Make sure you follow feeding guides and don’t feed too many nuggets or your rabbits may become obese. Fresh greens can be fed as a treat to add variety and provide additional nutrition. Click the link below to download our guide to what fresh greens you can and can’t feed your rabbits.

Alfie bunny would like everyone see his favourite toy, and to explain how important it is for bunnies to be able to express their natural behaviour,
Rabbits need to be able to display their natural behaviours that they would display in the wild in order to be happy. The basics are Water, always ensure fresh clean water is available for your rabbits Food, access to their body size in hay and a small bowl of nuggets daily. Space, large housing with spaces to hide and access to ...a run large enough for them to run around in. Companions, rabbits should always be kept in at least pairs Enrichment, such as toys and activities.
And don't forget that we are offering every bunny client a FREE appointment with one of our vets this week, just call the clinic 01270 765555.

This is Rosie and Ruby, they are Alfie bunny's close personal friends and they would like to tell everyone about the importance of companionship for rabbits.
Rabbits are highly social animals and should be kept in at least pairs. Like us, rabbits can become lonely without social interaction, which can have a negative effect on their behaviour and health. Rabbits do enjoy spending time with their owners, however they naturally prefer the company of other rabbits and therefore ...should be kept with at least one.
Don't forget that all this week we are offering a FREE health check with one of our vets for all our bunny clients call 01270 765555 and select 1 for Winterley or 2 for Elworth.
