excellent long lazy lunch here for a birthday. Maitresse is quite wonderful. We felt very looked after and comping us champagne was a very classy move. Looking forward to coming back again soon.

From the starters through the main courses until the delicious desserts we had a wonderful travel!

The food is of course the main issue but the intimity and service you experience here is also what makes this a highly recomended place to visit.

Loved every moment - from A to Z - of my spontaneous and lucky visit. Food, drinks, ambiance, staff, decoration, music, soul, love for details and attention, everything combined was a super nice surprise "agreable". I will be back and also will I for sure promote and share this charming cute little place to my beloved "froggies" of London and its surroundings.

Hidden Gem! Positively the most genuine French Bristo this side of the Channel superb authentic food, genuine friendly efferent service. Affordable prices, easy access from Shorditch or Whitechapple. Wonderful ambiance with a cosy feel & lots of little extras that makes your visit special. If there is such a thing as perfect Chez Ellies is it!!

There is a lovely atmosphere in the restaurant and it is small without the tables being packed in close to each other.



The food is outstanding, relatively small portions but they are more than enough to fill you up. Staff are also extremely welcoming and attentive!

Had a wonderful evening for my husbands birthday. The staff were very accommodating & moved us to a quieter table as the party next to us we're very loud. This is a beautiful non pretentious little restaurant & I can see why it's so busy. The food was wonderful, authentic & not over priced. Although we are not local to this area would definitely make the trip again if meeting friends in London. Fantastic!!

Chez Ellis is a lovely little restaurant which is worth trying if you are ever in the area on leisure or business trips. The staff were all very kind and helpful with me and helped me choose a few dish's I had never tried before. The food was excellent and will be definitely returning there in the future �

A true gem hiding in Brick Lane.

This place is homely and adds nicely to the character of Brick Lane with a change to the expected. Full of atmosphere, very cosy and has all the traditional French touches you would want with a modern twist. Only let down by minimal elements of the food itself. One dish arrived smoking where the herbs were on fire (literally) when served and the chips served with the steak were very dry and over cooked, almost stale. French fries or other alternative side options would have been far nicer. The food overall was full of flavour and the produce all seemed of a good quality. The staff were very friendly, predominantly French which is a good sign, kind and attentive. I would love to go again!
