Hidden Depths - women of the RNLI Don't miss this fascinating talk at Chiswick Pier Trust. The RNLI is alive with outstanding women working alongside equally exceptional men, ensuring that as many people as possible who find themselves in trouble, either on or by the sea, live rather than drown. The volunteer crew were hailed by the people on board a small motor cruiser. They were desperate for help after discovering a fire on board. There was smoke coming from the stern of the vessel and so it was essential that the three people on board were taken off while it was still safe to do so.

Triple Oxford blue and the winner of 10 World Championship rowing gold medals and four consecutive Olympic golds, three with Steve Redgrave. In one of the classic sporting moments of all time, Sir Matthew Pinsent led the Great Britain coxless four to victory at the Athens Olympic Games in 2004. Just eight one hundredths of a second ahead of the Canadian Champions, the win booked Matt's place in Olympic history. Since his retirement he has worked as a sports broadcaster with the BBC.
