Chris Whitelegg Golf At The Shire London Golf Course Description

Chris Whitelegg Golf Professional GSEB
I began my teaching career some 25 years ago at panshanger Golf course .
This was a great place to learn as it was such a busy place and allowed me to develop my skills as a coach
There was a par 3 course there, that provided the perfect teaching base for
Juniors
It wasn't long before the complex was buzzing with new talent and i introduced my own certificate system and monthly competitions
The rookie club was formed and the coaching went from strength to strength, combining the Gosling Stadium Driving Range for swing training.
Membership of the Rookie Club soared to over 100 juniors
I relocated to Mill Green Golf Club, having been made redundant and worked again developing Junior Golf with Alan Hall and eventually Ian Parker (A good friend of mine)
After a brief spell at Brocket Hall I decided to dedicate my time to teaching full time at the A1 Driving range with Lee Cox , with whom i had done my PGA training
Another Rookie Club successfully blossomed here and I hired Tudor Park Par 3 course for monthly competitions
I taught many more adults during this time and enjoyed graet success employing simple techniques that had been so successful when teaching juniors
After a spell at Stevenage Golf Course and Driving Range I have settled at The Shire London as Senior Teaching Professional with my good friend and colleague Lee Cox

My teaching style reflects my knowledge, gained through The Golfing Machine concept and years of experience acquired through teaching adults and youngsters.
The Golfing Machine is the ultimate teaching manual, written in the 1950’s by Homer Kelly.
It is as relevant today as it was then and almost every style of teaching has its roots in the book.
It is neither a method nor a system, but instead, a detailed study of how the swing works.
I have completed Levels 1 and 2 Golf Machine which makes me one of 30 or so authorised instructors in England and allows me to use the designation GSEB (Golf Machine Engineer Bachelor)
It has given me the confidence and the belief to talk about swing physics and geometry in a way that youngsters and adults can grasp easily, my teaching ability has been transformed.
A good swing is about doing less to achieve more, educating the hands to follow rather than lead.
To this end, I use exclusive Golf machine teaching aids designed to create these simple movements.
I firmly believe anyone can learn to play this game regardless of age, sex or ability
