When you know it’s a great #summer

We are taking a brief break this afternoon for a couple of hours until the smoke clears from this burning car opposite us. Big up to the brave fire servicemen who were quick to get here and put out the flames from an exploding car. Thankfully nobody was hurt. Will update again. Road is closed by the way so make sure you avoid Lower Addiscombe Road if you are driving.

“In some Native American cultures, a dreamcatcher is a handmade willow hoop, on which is woven a net or web. The dreamcatcher may also include sacred items such as certain feathers or beads. Traditionally they are often hung over cradles as protection. It originates in Ojibwe culture as the "spider web charm".... used as a protective charm for infants.” (Wikipedia)
Come along this Saturday to meet Aimee, a young artist from Croydon and take a look at how she makes these dreamcatchers and how you could have your own personalised one designed while you watch, drink a coffee and take in the ambience...
Image taken is one of Aimee’s dream catchers..

We are auctioning this original framed photograph of the current first team of Crystal Palace Football Club (captured by an official photographer) in aid of St Christopher’s Hospice.
This is a cause close to our hearts having lost one of our dear friends to cancer last week. St Christopher’s is staffed by wonderfully caring people, their grounds are stunning and well thought out. Considering they are charity run we would like to do whatever we can to raise some money for them..., in memory of David Miller. We were able to raise funds last Friday at our music night donated by our very generous customers and we’d like to raise more.
So please share this event post with all your friends and family, (particularly Palace fans!) and let’s do our best to make a positive difference to the lives of others.
Starting bids at £50, you can place your bid simply via comment here, with bidding coming to an end on the 15th of August. The winner will be announced on the day.
Thank you for your attention and get your bids in folks!
Much love Café Adagio

A lovely surprise to receive this gift from a generous gentleman (who wishes to remain incognito), this original photograph of the current Crystal Palace football team is up for grabs tonight in order to raise money for St Christopher’s Hospice. We will start the bidding when the evening kicks off at 6:30 (yes open mic is still on!)
Highest bid wins...
Please share this amongst your friends and hopefully a Palace fan will be pleased with their purchase and the money going to a great cause.

Dear folks,
Given yesterday’s news about the passing of our friend David Miller I was considering cancelling tomorrow’s music night. However, after giving it serious thought, having known Dave for the last few years and how much he loved our music nights I think he would have wanted the show to go on...
So this was a notice to say (in case anyone thought otherwise) that open mic is still going ahead as planned, and will be held in Dave’s honour.
... I recently visited St Christopher’s Hospice in Sydenham, it’s a beautiful place with beautiful staff, and as they are charity run I’d like for us to do what we can to help those others in need of palliative care, so proceeds from tomorrow night will be donated to this worthy cause.
Thank you for reading and hope to see you many of tomorrow.
Stay safe people. Atif

Good people of Addiscombe, it’s in your hands. Let’s not allow this to happen to our town.
Support all of your local independent shops and keep the ghosts away.

Happy Monday! Here’s a note for music lovers...
As many of you will know we love music too. Especially live music from undiscovered singers, songwriters & producers.
Starting soon on Saturday afternoons we will be playing host to an eclectic mix of up and coming local musicians and bands who want to share their sounds with the world, or at least to LA! Gigs will be filmed live and clips shown on our new Instagram and YouTube channels “Sounds from the corner café”.
... Plans also include a forthcoming album featuring artists we work with, and Café Adagio’s own independent music label.
Stay tuned for further news. Meanwhile if you want to keep in touch with updates about these sessions then do give us a follow.
Peace Café Adagio

We love the new look Adagio. Although we miss the food, the excellent choice of cakes, coffee and drinks more than makes up for it. There's always something tempting on offer.

User

Lovely community atmosphere, the best skinny decaf latte anywhere, delightful and very welcoming host, Atif, with excellent staff. Food is always fresh, tasty and reasonably priced. Interesting exhibitions, including paintings, photos, vintage fashion and poetry readings. Definitely the best coffee shop for miles around.

User

Fabulous coffee, amazing array of cakes and wonderful, helpful, friendly staff. Somehow it has managed to attract equally wonderful customers who have gone from not knowing each other to becoming good friends. Adagio’s is such a lovely place. All the way from the great coffee and cakes to lovely art and customers.

Always greeted with smile from owner and wife. I wish I could come there more often as the food is always good. I will admit I miss the time when there was savory meals but the coffees and cakes worth going there. Nice and relaxing atmosphere with sofa and music. Some good events going on there. Highly recommended
