The City Music Foundation was established in 2013 to provide new opportunities to aspiring professional musicians in the early stages of their careers, both financially and through mentoring. The CMF will identify inspirational soloists and ensembles and make them accessible to a new generation of audiences, young and old, in the UK and abroad.
The founding trustees of the City Music Foundation identified the gap in arts patronage that is soloists and chamber groups, and founded the charity to help more musicians succeed in bringing their ambitions to fruition via a structured financial and mentoring support system, with the aim of bringing fresh new talent to new audiences in the UK and beyond.
By bringing together several established City-based institutions, including the Barbican Arts Centre, Milton Court Concert Hall, the London Symphony Orchestra, the City of London Festival and the Worshipful Company of Musicians, the CMF unites experts who share a common purpose in their commitment to support young artists beyond the end of formal musical training or education.
