Universities have always been known as the safe havens of free speech and free thinking, places where you can unreservedly express your thoughts and opinions; that’s why we believe its imperative for City to have a society where all students are welcome to discuss their various ideas and beliefs.
The debating society aims to create just that sort of environement; an arena where students are free to come and discuss relevant thoughts and opinions on current affairs within the boundaries of a structured debate.
Plus debating helps develop some of the most fundamental skills that employers are looking for such as communication, team work and public speaking. Everyone is welcome to join, whether you’re a seasoned pro or completely new to the concept, give it a go and you might surprise yourself!
Throughout the year we’ll be putting on loads of events, from socials to debates being monitored by special guest judges, so don’t hesitate to get involved!
