Exclusive Preview: Clacton Pier will be opening the doors in 1 weeks time on Saturday 21st July 2018, to one of its biggest re-development projects since the Pier was officially opened, on 27 July 1871. The £4 million development project has focused on providing Clacton Town and visitors with a 52 Week, All Weather, Family Entertainment Centre, that is finished to a high standard.
Traditionally Seaside Piers have offered facilities which are perceived as an occasional treat ...by visitors. However Clacton Pier’s new direction is to also provide a day to day activity lifestyle facility. Giving families somewhere to dwell that is relaxing and comfortable with a desirable ambience. Allowing children a safe, warm and stimulating environment to play and learn, whilst the parents can enjoy fabulous views of the coast. Plus, savour the good quality food and refreshments on offer at the new eateries. However don’t worry, visitors can still enjoy all the usual rides, amusements and comestible treats that they would expect to find here at the Pier.
Over the last year both the Managing Directors, Billy and Elliot Ball and their dedicated team have been slavishly working to a punishing schedule. Their aim has been to ensure the new undercover development will be ready in time for the Summer Holidays. As the Pier is a vital part of it’s community Billy and Elliot believed it was important to document this significant upgrade which will greatly enhance the seafront at Clacton On Sea. Also because it may also be of interest to many of the people who Love Clacton and Love Clacton Pier. So with out further ado here is a little sneak preview, teaser presentation of what’s been going on. We hope you like it :)
P.S. keep your eyes pealed for our full feature documentary presentation coming soon.

We have a great afternoon out here, my children are 4,7&9 and really enjoyed themselves. The young lad who was on the bungee trampoline was absolutely mint, between my three he didn't stop, helping them bounce, showing them what to do, making them laugh. He's exactly the type of employee that you need, someone who even when not being watched by their employer will still put 100% in and actually looks like he's enjoying his job.

If we were back in the area, I wouldn't hesitate to come back, thought it was good value and a decent set up.

My only negative is the pricing structure for adults to accompany little ones on rides. I think you should produce a leaflet, these are the rides a 1m child can ride alone, these are what they can't ride even if you accompany them, this is which rides they can go on with you. This didn't affect our day and is only constructive criticism.

We booked 2 bowling lanes last minute for a DIY surprise party for my daughter's 8th birthday with her friends (6pm Tuesday). This wasn't a pier run bowling party as we didn't know how many might come so just planned to run it as a normal bowling session with cake afterwards if allowed.

A lady called Jasmine was on "The Lanes" desk alone tonight until around 8 pm and coped extremely well with the chaos of children endlessly changing bowling shoes, getting our food and many drinks orders and clearing up the chip mess with speed (I did try to clear up as much as I could!). She also said we could use the side tables to have the birthday cake I brought in and even played Happy birthday over the speakers.. this was despite it not being a Pier run bowling party... something other places would have not allowed!

Everyone told me afterwards how much fun they had and we wanted to personally thank Jasmine for going the extra mile (we spoke to her also to say thanks). Employee of the month perhaps?? Joanna and family

Vicky and Denise at the boardwalk bar and grill were the best service ever, honestly they saved our faith in humanity today. My best friend lost her phone and they found it and kept it safe until we returned for it. Not only that but they served us lovely food and took care of us! I'm so far from home right now and honestly miss it but I felt at home here!. They deserve some massive praise for the stars they are, its people like them who keep companies strong <3

User

Vicky and Denise at the Boardwalk were absolute angels from the moment I arrived, they were very friendly and approachable and made sure we were catered for throughout our visit, they really stood out amongst other staff who didn’t approach us once.

User

Vicky and Denise are amazing they have been a great help today and had brilliant customer service really lovely ladies always asking if we needed any thing else and provided us with a great service!! Thankyou!!x

User

Vicki and denise gave the best customer service at the brodarwalk bar and grill today they made me feel at home always checked too see my needs were caterd for and i will return also theyre a real credit to the company! Thankyou for a great time.

User

Its great Clacton pier lots of good rides and good arcade with lots of good game machines in, Im looking forward to the new development being finished in July, especially the adventure golf course, Dodgems and Coffee shop....

Love the Aqua Blast Lagoon ride, Go karts, Para trouper and the Twister ride too...

User

Went bowling last night, £2.99 per person, per game, can't go wrong. However we got a very rude member of staff and we know it's because we went at 8:45pm and the facilities closed at 10pm, she also thought it was appropriate to stand texting on her phone whilst we were standing there. As we were finished, another couple came in at half 9 and they got the same treatment. Very sorry we came in 1hr 15 mins before you close!!

User

We come down here a lot as u are only an hrs drive and we have a fantastic time we have a ride top up card the staff are amazing but the only thing is the stall giving away goldfish as a prize I am a fish keeper and aquatic shop manager I find this very cruel to the animal can u please stop doing this

User

Had a good day on the pier yesterday, friendly staff, plenty to do. The only thing that let's it down is the lack of toilets.

User

Went for the day was very good day in all little bit dissaponted as we got bands for the fun fair rides book on line so much cheaper worth doing but when we got them we went off older girls went on big rides and took 4 year old on smaller rides was told it all the rides for the 4 year old with blue band so we went outside as she saw the red bus only to find that it not included was told u can only use that in the pier it tokens in this bit so went back to office bit to be told no that is right I questioned it said u did not say that and there answer was well buy tokens very rude and dissaponted as I feel u are miss leaded get told it all rides

User

Shame you're not able to take dogs on to Clacton Pier it would be good if you could beach was not too bad dog loved it price of food was ok sweets for a bit expensive or cheap around the corner in a little shop in the town centre but other than that was not too bad will definitely be going against

User

It is good for family, but disappointed about kids rides. There are not much rode for kids. They have just few rides for toddlers. I have two young daughters. When I took blue ribbon for them and red for son. My daughters can only rides 4 rides, but the jumping mat always over their ages, so they only can ride three. What's the point the price separates or different price for each are groups. Others than this it's a fun place.

User

I visited this place on Saturday, was extremely busy with a great atmosphere. Bar staff looked rushed of their feet, I got served by a lovely friendly woman Denise who even though was busy provided great customer service.

User

Fun pier but seriously let down by the ‘hook-a-duck’ stall giving away Goldfish as prizes and selling tiny tanks. It really upset my daughter and I to see this. I thought in 2018 people new better. My daughter thought teddy fish would be much better than real ones!

User

We had terrible experience there on Waltzer (Thunder Dome) with my 4 y.o. son. Our cabin was spinning too fast, much faster than others. I was shouting asking to stop, but operator even didn't look at the cabins.

My son was crying and to be honest I was thinking we both will die.

I have several bruises on my elbow as I was trying to hold my son, also my neck muscles are injured.

We found some manager who didn't really believe me, just told that the rides are checked every morning and I can go and ask for the first aid in bowling.

Will NEVER come back.

User

Very disappointed that it's "quids in" compared to Southend wristbands, however I would have to pay to accompany my 1.1m daughter into rides whereas at Southend I would be able to ride for free, but yet the 6 tiny tots rides are not suitable for her, find it very misleading that nowhere apart from on the measuring posts does it actually state accompanied by a paying adult, in the small print, doesn't state on any of the ride boards nor does it state it on the screens at the ticket office in which we was told it was, your staff are incompetent and rude, we shall not be returning.
