We made a short film about how we make CLOAK.
Designed, fabricated and assembled in our London Studio.
We hope you like it!

Thanks to @wallpapermag for featuring us as a watch that makes them tick πŸ˜€
They chose the same combination as worn by our studio pal @sash_scott - great minds think alike!
We recently updated our website with a new layout - let us know what you think.
... We also spotted a project on there today we worked on as part of @mulestudio. It's top secret that we worked on it so you'll have to just guess!
Happy Friday all,

Some lovely shots coming in from our Barbican shoot last week.
The beauty of the materials can be hard to capture but the man @roolewis has done a great job πŸ™Œ
We also woke up to find @wallpapermag featured CLOAK on their "watch designs that make us tick". Their publications have been a real inspiration to us over the years so it's very cool to see ourselves there.
... See link in bio to see more.
As always - get in touch if you have any questions or have any beautiful and interesting materials to share.

Yesterday we had a photo shoot in the @barbicancentre conservatory. Massive thanks to the Barbican team, @petegomori @roolewis @bronte.lavine @mattydickson and Emma. You all smashed it.
Whilst there we were quite taken by the raw craggy concrete. To create these the concrete was cast in the normal way, leaving a smooth surface. Then the whole site was drilled and sculpted with hand drills - inside and out!
... A utopian dream of public space, services, arts and housing the centre was built in the late 70s as a gift to the public from the City of London on a site that had been heavily bombed.
Love it or hate it we really recommend exploring the site and, if you time your visit carefully, seeing the conservatory and saying hello to the squirrels and turtles who have (very sensibly) made their homes there.
Happy Friday CLOAKERS

It's a good day when you get to use the word "nodule"..
This is agate. It is formed when cavities, veins and cracks in another stone are repeatedly filled by siliceous matter. As the matter composition changes over the years we see the beautiful changing colours.
... The material builds up on the walls depositing layers until a nodule is formed. These can be hollow if the flow of silica is cut off before the cavity is filled.
They are usually much harder than the stone they have grown in. This means they can be set free as the surrounding stone disintegrates.
So next time your are on a beach or river keep an eye out. Look for rocks with a waxy greyish coating with a rough surface - as if it was removed from a mould.
Ps according to a crystal website it: Stops the burning desire for things we do not need. Helps young children how to learn to walk. Helps writers express ideas in a marketable form.

One of the pieces of advice we often get is:
β€œYou should send some watches out to β€˜influencers’”
Maybe we should. But you know what? If we going to be giving away free stuff, we’d much rather be giving it to you - people who have followed CLOAK from the start.
... Not some professional pouter!
Every time someone you have recommended buys a watch we will send you any CLOAK accessory of your choice.
New face, bezel or strap and there is no limit - see if you can complete the set!
β€œHow will you know I recommended it” I hear you ask?
During checkout there is an 'order notes' box - all your friend needs to do is put your name or email address in there and we will sort the rest.

A beautiful cross section of a Nautilus shell.
The more we learn about natural materials we more we see how these materials are just the most recent form that these atoms are taking.
... Built of structures that were once living plants and creatures. It really gives you a feeling of the vast timescales of life on Earth.
Maybe one day there will be a beautiful rock made from all our left over Lego and Tupperware!
Take a look at Coquina - a sedimentary rock composed entirely of shells of molluscs, trilobites, brachiopods and other invertebrates.
Might be tricky on a CLOAK face but very beautiful.

Our search continues..
A beautiful patinated bowl we saw today at Bronze Age Sculpture.
Using methods almost unchanged for thousands of years they create incredible colours and textures. Best of all they are ready to experiment with us to create something unique for CLOAK.
... It's not going to be easy to choose!
Thanks @bronzeagesculpture πŸ™Œ

Whilst hunting for beautiful materials we've really started to appreciate the epic processes that create them.
This is a microscopic image of granite. It is formed as magma is slowly cooled within the earth's crust.
... The crystals that are formed can be seen in our black galaxy, black camo, blue lake and coffee coral faces.
The largest crystals are seen in black camo which is an Anorthosite from the Precambrian era.
Precambrian era I hear you ask? Only 4,600,000,000 years ago πŸ€“

Some lovely faces leaving our studio today πŸ‘‰ Coffee coral, grey arctic and blue lake 😍 All cut, polished and assembled in our London studio. We would ask which is your fav but no need to choose!

User

"Soooo, how do you tell the time?!" This is usually the second question..
"CLOAK is an hour hand only watch, and the whole face acts as the hour hand. As time passed the face turns and the indicator points towards the markings on the bezel. ... The big markings are hours and the small markings are 15 minute intervals."
Easy!
