This rare double sided drawing by Moore, ‘Seated Figures’, is now on show at the gallery as part of our exhibition 'Henry Moore: Influences and Influenced'. On one side are the curved and twisted bodies that recall his Shelter Drawings, while the other has two abstract forms and a sketch from the 'Helmet Head' series. The drawing not only shows Moore's experimentation with different materials and techniques but also the importance of his drawings as not just preparatory studies, but as singular stand alone works. The complete series of ‘Helmet Head’ sculptures is currently on display at the Wallace Collection
Please contact the gallery for more information on this work

Now on in the gallery - Henry Moore: Influences and Influenced
This exhibition examines the myth and legend that is Henry Moore. Alongside Moore’s own works are those by artists who inspired him, rebelled against his stature and contemporary artists still grappling with his work to this day. Definitely not a show to miss!

There are some wonderful works hanging in the gallery to take away those post TEFAF blues. These pieces by Miro, Calder and Lobo make the perfect Modern trio.

It’s the final day of TEFAF 2019 and your last chance to see Gauguin’s painted tambourine ‘Fleurs et oiseau’. Gauguin is known to have decorated only two tambourines in his lifetime, and he repeatedly returns to the flowers and bird in this work in later paintings. For your last chance to see this truly special piece and many others come to Stand 446 before 6pm today.

The age old paragone of sculpture vs painting continues at our TEFAF booth. Barbara Hepworth’s Four-Square (Four Circles) watches over paintings by Chagall and Sisley. Come to Stand 446 to see which you prefer.

Albert Marquet's dazzling Porquerolles is currently on display at our TEFAF stand . Painted in 1938, Porquerolles is a display of Marquet's subtle and nuanced use colour. A distinctly Modernist painter, in this landscape he focuses on the simplicity of forms and purity of tone. Porquerolles shows his extraordinary talent for painting the luminescence of light on water . For Marquet, water became a tool for abstraction, enabling him to develop his own intuitive minimalism. Hav...ing travelled through Europe in 1938, it was the idyllic isle of Porquerolles that truly captured his imagination. Infatuated by the area, Marquet returned the following year with his family to paint another series of canvases . . See this work and many more at Stand 446 at TEFAF open 11am - 7pm until Sunday 24th March . . . @tefaf_art_fair #artfair #albertmarquet #porquerolles #seascape #sailing #boat
