We have now been to this place to eat on several occasions. We love it, staff, food and the refurbisment just fabulous . We were given very special treatment today as it was our son's 10th birthday. Our servers today Abbi and Stacey went the extra mile ensuring he had a special meal. This was whilst attending promptly to other customers in the busy restaurant too. We cannot fault anything from any of our visits so far. Keep up the good work and thanks for making our son's birthday that little bit more special!!!!

I went in today with my son for breakfast and it was great value for money. Kids eat free per paying adult, you can have a cooked breakfast as well as Continental with your drinks also included. Staff were also very helpful and provided good service.

From entering for the first time as the cookhouse, decor is lovely and fresh, being welcomed at the front desk, for our table for lunch, to be told who was serving us for today, being told the specials on offer then returning with large bottle of cold water and glasses for the table, letting us take time to choose our food, menu has a variety of excellent choices and also a value menu. Food was excellent arrived quickly. Excellent g quality and quantity wise could not fault it. Cookhouse, your team in Kilmarnock are exceptional. Can't wait to go back x

2nd visit. ONLY because spent few hours at hospital. Today .. visited a few weeks ago, Sunday with 92 year old mam service was shocking, the wait for food was diabolical. Place wasn't busy Trying to pay the bill was shambolic.. 20 mins for a bill to arrive! Another 15 mins to pay bill.

Fast forward a few weeks.. what a complete difference. Lovely friendly staff, service first class. Food amazing. Place was really busy, but our waitresses were always smiling. Food arrived quickly. Had restored my faith in the place . But yes there's a but.. Today we got a 25% pleasantly but confused discount for the wait for our food!! Yet few week ago we was treated shockingly and got no discount.. #confuddled..

Tuesday 6th Feb 2018 our 1st visit found the pub to be very good, excellent service and good value for money with good portions and tasty food. 12th Feb thought we'd treat ourselves again. Same clean place, service good but portions small. I had the same thing Supersalad but this time the portion was half the amount. My hubby's fish (paid extra) was supposed to be larger size but when it came was on a larger plate but the fish was the same size as mum's small!!! If this is going to be the norm from now on then clearly we'll take our custom elsewhere. Keep it consistent Cottonmill.

First and last visit since it changed. Food wasn't good, people waiting an hour for food. Poor service. My niece got burned by a desert skillet that was just out of the oven. We weren't warned to be careful which the server said she did. No assistance regarding the burn, a customer from another table brought ice in a napkin for her to put on the burn. Lots of other minor probs

User

Soup was lovely but very small, Carbonara very nice, but the Apple crumble tasted awful, not the traditional crumble I expected so I thought, ok ill give it a try , it tasted very oaty n had too much I think nutmeg, I ate most of it but I wouldn't try it again. Why can't Apple crumble just have crumble topping, nothing fancy, just what it should be, place was very busy, staff were run ragged but we waited too long between courses. Left Lauren a tip as she was trying her best but it was too much for them.

Disappointed it was good before it changed. I had a burger the other half had chicken the burger was ok the rest was cold and tasteless, her chicken was good but the rest was tasteless and cold we waited for 40 minuets to get our food so won’t be back.

User

first time we've been in since it was taken over! waited 45 minutes for my meal! then it was cold! the so-called chef didn't start my friends meal until mine had been served and then she only got half the order and had to ask the waitress where her breadsticks were! when the waitress went and told the chef he had a couldn't be bothered attitude! the waitress did her best! i couldn't be bothered to complain about it being cold as after waiting so long i didn't have much time to get to an appointment! so wasn't gonna wait any longer to have it reheated! i had heard some good reviews about the food! but i know wonder if they had been to the same place to eat! will not be reccommending it to anyone and will not be back!! though i will reccommend they sack the bone idle chef!

Today was my second visit to the newly refurbished Cookhouse in Kilmarnock.

My first experience ( with my partner) was really pleasant and couldn't fault the food or service.

It was that good that I decided to take my mum along today for a treat.

However I found it to be a different experience all together.

The service was extremely slow, taking a very long time to order, being brought food and drinks and the bill at the end.

The food was cold and portion size had dramatically reduced in size. The burger was over cooked and the vegetables looked withered.

The staff appeared friendly enough and I could see they were working hard. So decided not to say anything at the time.

( Also it had taken that long to get the food in the first place, I didn't want to waste more time) .

It is strange to see such a massive change in the restaurant in such a short time.

Shame ☹️

Terrible service. Wasn’t given kids menu and struggled to find staff to ask for some. Slow to take order. By half 9 gave up trying to order kids dessert and felt like an eternity to get someone’s attention to ask for bill

User

So disappointing! Waited long time for drinks & meals. Wrong items being brought to table. Food sloppy, chips burnt, garlic bread undercooked. The chicken didnt look or taste like chicken, cheap looking & defrosted. No attention to detail. One waitress nice, constantly rectifying the others peoples mistakes. Gave up waiting for my dessert, friends came quite quick but was wrong. I had to say nearly refused to pay for main meal especially. Such a shame. Won't be going back!

User

Service was atrocious but servers were very nice and friendly. I could have cooked better food at home. It took half an hour for drinks to arrive (Pepsi and ginger beer). Very much doubt I’ll be back. The whole experience ruined my sons birthday.

User

Pre booked a table of 14 for a 50th birthday party. When we arrived on 30th May we discovered they had split us into 2 separate tables which meant we needed a megaphone to communicate with the other table. The service was as slow as a week in the jail. Mostly due to being understaffed and the restaurant being busy. The food when it arrived was terrible. A lump of pate as a starter with some toast for nearly a fiver. Smothered chicken where the chicken breast needed a chainsaw to cut thro it. We passed on the dessert as we felt with the quality of the 1st 2 courses it would be a waste of money. Tried repeatedly to get the bill as some of us had to leave before the other guests and eventually gave up. Ended up guessing our share and leaving money on the table. Turns out another of the guests had to demand the bill after we left.

We used to enjoy a meal at the old Cotton Mill regularly and this was our 1st visit since it changed. Can definitely say we will not be back. Dreadful and expensive

Hi.

our first visit to this establishment since the refurb and name change was last night Tuesday 13 th March at Kilmarnock. we were taking our mum out for late mother's day meal as we had all been working at the weekend.

the establishment was clean and fresh although the walls made it feel closed in catastrophic.

our waitress quickly took our drinks order followed by our meal order.

our starters arrived and this is where things go downhill steadily.

the minestrone soup was half filled cup , the pate was dry and tasteless and chutney tasted like dried out dumpling.and not very sweet.

our main courses were smothered chicken, lamb shank Rogan josh, lamb shoulder and carbonara. the chicken wasn't smothered dried and tasteless, the lamb dishes were fatty, and the carbonara was bland, although we could all smell the garlic off the oily bread it certainly didn't taste garlic.

moving on to sweet, my mother ordered the mini apple crumble and coffee, and we ordered the salted caramel popcorn sundae and sticky toffee pudding. both the sticky toffee and the sundae came together and we were almost finished these when the mini apple crumble and coffee arrived. the smallest ramiken ever with powdered nutmeg overtaking any other flavour that was possibly in this dolls serving.

suffice to say this was our first and last visit to your newly refurbished establishment.

worse meal ever from start to finish.

Food wasnt great, chicken was overdone, there was no beef on the sunday roast for 30 mins, the ‘warm’ chocolate cake was freezing! Defo wont be back 😩 used to love this place aswell!

User

First experience in the Cookhouse. Booked a table for 16.6.18, arrived on time and was promptly seated. Waitress arrived and took drinks order which seemed to take a bit of time getting to our table, there then was another large gap in having our food order taken. Starters came out in an acceptable time and were ok. Waitress didn't come back and clear the starter plates so I had to ask for them to be taken away when the main courses came out. My son ordered a kids hotdog but was brought a cheeseburger, this was quickly rectified after it was pointed out, my Mum ordered pineapple with her gammon steak but was informed that they didn't have any left so she accepted egg instead. The food was ok, the burgers looked a bit overdone and the gammon slightly fatty but again, acceptable. I had to go and find the waitress to order more drinks as she never came back to the table during the main course and again there was a wait for them (also informed there was no ice left) The waiter also had to be asked to take away the used glasses. Eventually someone took away the dinner plates and asked if we'd be having dessert to which we said yes, however no one came back to the table to take the order so I asked for bill. So we arrived at 1 o'clock and still hadn't had our dessert order taken by 2.30. Felt like the waitress had forgotten about us, as there were people arriving after us and then leaving before us. I'm quite glad we used a 25% off voucher, otherwise I would have complained about the slow service. Bit of a let down and wouldn't return for this reason.

our main courses were smothered chicken, lamb shank Rogan josh, lamb shoulder and carbonara. the chicken wasn't smothered dried and tasteless, the lamb dishes were fatty, and the carbonara was bland, although we could all smell the garlic off the oily bread it certainly didn't taste garlic.

moving on to sweet, my mother ordered the mini apple crumble and coffee, and we ordered the salted caramel popcorn sundae and sticky toffee pudding. both the sticky toffee and the sundae came together and we were almost finished these when the mini apple crumble and coffee arrived. the smallest ramiken ever with powdered nutmeg overtaking any other flavour that was possibly in this dolls serving.

suffice to say this was our first and last visit to your newly refurbished establishment.

worse meal ever from start to finish.

Food wasnt great, chicken was overdone, there was no beef on the sunday roast for 30 mins, the ‘warm’ chocolate cake was freezing! Defo wont be back 😩 used to love this place aswell!

User

User

OMG!!!! Who is running cookhouse & pub service is appauling... They have seating plan when u arrive and wait to b seated... But they need to employ someone who understands it lol.. Then they get drinks order wrong 1/2pint beer not rocket science.. But no I get pint... It's OK won't charge... 20mis for mains although it was empty.. Then can't eat fish too dry and batter like crackling.... It's OK we take away won't charge.. Wtf is all that about do left there hungry wenty to burger King... Stay away folks it's crap :(!!!

Shame ☹️

User

User

User

Disappointed it was good before it changed. I had a burger the other half had chicken the burger was ok the rest was cold and tasteless, her chicken was good but the rest was tasteless and cold we waited for 40 minuets to get our food so won’t be back.

first time we've been in since it was taken over! waited 45 minutes for my meal! then it was cold! the so-called chef didn't start my friends meal until mine had been served and then she only got half the order and had to ask the waitress where her breadsticks were! when the waitress went and told the chef he had a couldn't be bothered attitude! the waitress did her best! i couldn't be bothered to complain about it being cold as after waiting so long i didn't have much time to get to an appointment! so wasn't gonna wait any longer to have it reheated! i had heard some good reviews about the food! but i know wonder if they had been to the same place to eat! will not be reccommending it to anyone and will not be back!! though i will reccommend they sack the bone idle chef!

Shame ☹️

User

Service was atrocious but servers were very nice and friendly. I could have cooked better food at home. It took half an hour for drinks to arrive (Pepsi and ginger beer). Very much doubt I’ll be back. The whole experience ruined my sons birthday.
